Such a calm and quiet place on the national highway way is a rarity. Was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness in which the place is kept. If all government institutions are kept this way, the world will be a much better place. The grass is well pruned, the place is not littered at all. The restrooms are neat and clean. You can just come here to relax and meditate. Highly recommended. Only con - there is no parking space. You'll have to park your vehicle on the roadside under the sun and dust. It would have been better if a covered parking is provided.

Wonderful place! Calm and silent, even though it is adjacent to the National Highway. Well-maintained and very clean, with friendly staff – surprisingly, the government departments sometimes work better than private ones. A must-visit place if you are rear Trivandrum.

Located by the side of national highway. Couldn't find a parking place other than the roadside. The memorial is built by government on the property donated by the family. We can see the huts used by kumaran asan beautifully preserved. The other buildings are well built but not utilised to their full potential. Those who love kumaran asan should visit here at least once

A small memorial which gives you a quick glimpse of the life of our great poet Shri. Kumaranaasan. Could visit once in a while to relax amidst the artful sculptures and garden. Entry fee 20 per person(above 5 yrs). Could take photos but need to take permission(separate ticket) for capturing videos.

The memorial pays homage to the great Kumaranasan. It houses the humble home he was born in, also has a museum depicting the various important events & achievements in his life. Situated by the side of NH47 near Thonakkal, there is also a horticulture nursery & a book store housing his literary works. Parking area is not available, but cars can be comfortably parked by the side of the NH.

The Kumaran Asan National Institute of Culture, situated at Thonnakal, Thiruvananthapuram, carries the memories of the great poet. It is the first memorial dedicated by the Government of Kerala to a poet. Prof. Joseph Mundassery, the then Education Minister, laid the foundation stone at the birthplace of the poet in 1958. A committee appointed by the Government carries out the administration of the institute. Exceptional personalities in the field of literature, culture, social work and the like are included in the committee. The institute was bestowed with national status in the year 1999. Thonnakkal was selected as the ideal location for offering a tribute to Asan by EMS Namboodirpad decades ago. It was probably the first time a government took over the conservation of a poet’s house in the state for posterity,” said the CM.The sculpture is only the first installment at Kumaranasan Memorial. More sculptures depicting his poems are in the pipeline. These sculptures are expected to be completed in another three months. . . It is best for visiting in evening time. Rs20 are charged from adults per head for entry. Can come here with friends family and couples. Though shooting facilities are available. Closing time 6pm

Calm and quiet place on the side of National Highway. A great place to spend the evening. You can just come here and relax. Such a well protected and neatly maintained historical place. Very useful to those who want to know more about Mahakavi Kumaranasan. Those who want to improve their vast knowledge in Malayalam literature can vist here. You can buy variety of books here. Parking is troublesome. Otherwise great experience there.

This property encompasses the residence of one of the triune poets of modern Malayalam language. There's a museum giving a glimpse of his literature works and his life story. There's a beautiful garden surrounding it and spending an hour or two would be worth.
