I went to this place because a lot of American “expats” recommended it. It was not as great as I expected it to be. The waiter was nice, the place was clean, but I found the food to be rather bland. I had the fish cakes and the shrimp burger. The potato wedges were the most flavorful thing on the plate. I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

Generally some good choices, although the menu doesn't seem to change often. They make nice cocktails and as long as you enjoy a loud environment and the management sitting at the bar drinking oblivious to the lack of service it's an ok choice

Depending on the day, you get great service. I came with friends on Wednesday and the service was great. I came the following day on Thursday night and the service was slow.... Food is still good and the drinks good.

Let’s start with the positive: great atmosphere. Great location. Live music. The real issues? The service is beyond subpar even for Merida’s well known already poor service standard. The food was extremely mediocre with the exception of their wings (however, important to note we only tried the appetizers since they never brought our food out). Our waiter took our drink and appetizer order. I specially asked if the wings came with blue cheese or ranch sauce on the side. He told me ranch. I asked again to be sure - please note that Spanish is my first language - I told him I have an intense hate for blue cheese and he once again said that the sauce on the side is ranch. Welp, it turned out to be blue cheese, as I found out after my first dipping of the celery sticks and almost vomiting immediately after (I am pregnant at the moment so when I say my hate for blue cheese is intense, I mean it). He forgot our drinks and kept on bringing food (appetizers) without them. Once we finally reminded him of drinks one last time and he brought them out, we accidentally spilled one of the drinks right in front of him. He stood there and watched as we struggled to clean it up, wipe the table with not enough napkins, and didn’t move a single finger to help us or even bring us more napkins as he saw there simply weren’t enough to dry the puddle on the table. After seeing us struggle, he asked if we wanted to order the duck rolls, which was an odd timing all together. We said no, and he left as we were still trying to clean up the table. He never came back to help clean it. He kept on forgetting to refill our drinks the remainder of our visit even after we kept on calling him over to outright ask him for more drinks, water, coke, etc. these never came. We had to eat our appetizers without drinks… even the spicy stuff. I flagged down another waiter. Asked him to please give us some coke, water, or beer (literally anything) he said sure, asked what kind, I answered, I also asked for a second order of wings with ranch and status of our food order and he said he’d check. He brought the ranch later, but the drinks and wings never arrived. After sitting there for an hour getting slaughtered by mosquitos while simultaneously getting the worse service we’ve ever gotten, we decided to call it a night and leave. Had to ask him for the bill several times and wait another half hour for him to bring it. We left hungry, thirsty, and beaten up by mosquitos. I live across the street from Hennessy’s - I was genuinely excited to have an Irish pub right by my house. Unfortunately, sitting on a row of nothing but bars and restaurants, Hennessy’s really falls immensely short on service and quality of food. If they want to stick around, they really are going to have to do better.

It is a great place to eat and drink. It is a very good location and it is very rustic the food is very good. The fish n chips were good and the fish was fine the chips were good and the wine is very good. The beer is on tap here which is unusual for Mexico. And the lemonade was great. The orange juice was fine. The chairs were very comfortable and the table is so cool because it's base is made with a sewing machine it's so cool. The ambient was very good and the place also. The service was fine .I recommend it.

I was already apprehensive of this place and it unfortunately was worse than I expected. The Irish nachos were truly pathetic. They came out cold (restaurante was pretty empty so not sure why). They had almost nothing on them. The slightest dusting of cheese and a fleck of bacon. Also it was mostly tortilla chips which is very confusing for Irish nachos. The Caesar salad was bland, dry and definitely not something I’d order again. The burger saved the night. It was juicy and flavorful. It is huge! And the potato wedges were hot and crisp. We came here to watch a soccer game, they do have a lots of big televisions which were great for watching the game but I wouldn’t order the food again. It is overpriced and not good. But for drinks and live music, or watching sports it is a good choice.

Fun pub with good food and drinks. A good place to watch sports as well. Great staff. I even left a shopping bag there one time and they saved it for me.

Great food with decent portion sizes. I went here because I had lived in Ireland for many years and wanted to relive my experience by eating "authentic" Irish dishes. Our waiter was rude and didn't seem to want to be serving us. It was an early lunch and the place was almost empty. Not sure what his problem was. The guy out in front patrolled us like a sentinel and tried to grab my appetizer to put it in a "To Go" box before I was finished with it. Management should really train staff on customer relations so people feel welcome.

Been going to this pub/restaurant for years but this visit my oh my, terrible service! We sat outside and were literally ignored. My partner had to keep going inside to the bar to order. Plus our beers would be poured and sit on the bar with no one bringing to table. So when the beer arrived there was no head on it and was not cold. Management and owner must not care about the standard anymore. And there was a lot of staff - not busy when we were there. Even when we waved down the waiter he ignored us in favour of talking to other staff member sitting at the entrance. Tried to order a bottle of wine too from him but it never came. So we ended our meal short and left. It becomes rude and disrespectful at a point when the staff totally ignore you, but I'm sure they still complain about not making enough tips. No one in our group will ever go back there, so many good places now in merida, why pay to be treated like that.

This place is cute. Love the vibe had a great lunch there. The drinks are strong and delish. Had the crab cakes needed to serve larger portion of the tatar sauce but otherwise it was tasty. Also had the Fish and Chips to go. Great atmosphere, has an outside area and rooftop for cooling off in the evenings, could be a cute date spot too. Looks like they also have live Performances.

Great pet-friendly spot for those seeking an adequate spot to grab some food with your dog. Both indoor and outdoor is allowed so that was a nice surprise! The food is pretty good, too (don't expect some high accuracy UK fish and chips, but for being deep into Mexico, it's pretty damn good). The spinach dip is 👌👌👌 Prices aren't bad, beer is good, location is great for an evening out, and the staff are very accommodating to dogs (they'll even bring a water bowl for you). I've been back a few times and always enjoyed myself. I usually try to stick to lore local cuisine types, but being here for 6 months eventually got me missing some comfort food from home / my favourite Asian foods that can be hard to find, and this definitely serves up some of those staple European dishes (even if they aren't necessarily authentic, but finding some ingredients like dill in the Yucatan can be tough so ya work with what ya got). Checks off some basic ones like fish and chips, bangers and mash, a spin on shepherds pie, etc.

Hennessys has great tasting food and it's plentiful on the plate. Great Irish beef dishes as well as a large variety of American fare. Reasonably priced, good service. They have live music Fri and Sat. Many Expats hang out there. Patio seating available. Can be loud, hence 4 stars.

The food was great the service was good. But the atmosphere was just not for me. I'm not sure how to explain it. I also don't really like pets inside the restaurant. When I was there 3 people with 3 pets walked in. I have pets but would not bring them inside a restaurant. True service dogs are okay but pets no thank you! But the food is really good!

Solid beer selection at great prices with excellent service over long a beautiful street. Perfect spot to spend a few hours people watching. Service was great and we have nothing to complain about. We only had beer so can’t tell you how the food was.

I'm biased to talk about this place coz it's so close to my house that I come here a lot. The drinks menu is vast. Food choices are varied and whoever the chef is does a really good job. Good for solos or groups, this place is for those who like good stuff

Once again four of us went for dinner and a cold few. The curry dish, wings and Rubin sandwich all with fries was very good. ( skip the duck appetizer ) Priced well with very good staff.

We have eaten here a handful of times and have enjoyed almost everything! The Indian butter chicken that they occasionally do for a weekday special is some of the best Indian we have ever had! The staff are also very friendly and welcoming!

Year after year this Restaurant is very consistent in their quality. The food is exceptional...even for Merida. The staff are friendly and attentive. This is the very best Irish Pub I have ever gone to and highly recommend it to everyone who moves to or visits Merida.

Went here to watch some of the World Cup. Price point was fine and the service truly was excellent. However the beer didn’t taste great and it’s quite dark and dingy when the curtains are closed to watch a match. It’s fine if that’s what you’re looking for.

Mixed drinks were awful. 1st one (margarita) tasted like fabuloso cleaner, 2nd lemon drop was neither sweet or sour and my wife and I thought it tasted liked smoked turkey. Bar tender was rude too. Fish and chips are good though.

So, the food was good. Duck rolls? Get them. Tasty. But heck, my dudes. The service was some Keystone Cops stuff. I mean, I worked in food service for a number of times. And this was just cartoonish. We got there on a Saturday. 23:00, Google said they close at 2:00. Cool. Ask where we want to sit, we pick the terrace out back. A menagerie of waitpersons take orders, some on point, some messed up. We don't make any ado about not having plates, the mojitos being substituted with coffee drinks, the cuteness of stealing napkins from a neighboring table not being reciprocated with... you know. Maybe bringing us some napkins. And still, like, plates my dude. Here's the thing. I know. Woooow, we're in Mexico, and tHiS iS tHe BaDlAnDs, and oh-mygoodness, you just gotta expect blah blah blah blah, right? No! This country does do better than that, and that's not an excuse (especially when lackadaisical tendency is postured by the management). Don't chuckle at a complaint. You are running a not-cheap restaurant. We're dropping, like, $100 here. You know? And you're moving band equipment around? Stacking tables? Folks rushing to clock out? Hoping to have a nice time upstairs, and having some dude yell at us that our food is there on the table, and that we'd better get to it NOW, gash-durrnitt. Lights getting turned off around us, the... I mean, if you didn't want us to be there, why didn't you tell us? I mean, just tell us. "Who was your waiter?" Umm... Were we supposed to have one? It's OK. This is Merida. This was a Saturday, and there are plenty of other places. And, it's the end of Corona, and all kinds of stuff, and nobody knows what the heck they're doing. And, that's OK. I hope the restaurant reads this. You're a DAMM FINE RESTAURANT. Your food is solid. Your cocktail program is solid. Your location, great. Aesthetics, impeccable. But heck — coming from a guy who never complains? That's gotta mean something. I gave a 20% tip. That's because the waitstaff did the best with what they could. I admire them. Good people, and I appreciate their efforts. The problem is the management. The management of this restaurant is rubbish. Do better.

We went twice during our stay in Merida and enjoyed each time. The vibe is fun, live music on the patio, there are many attentive servers, and a large selection of beer. Would definitely return!

Great place to listen to good music and have a drink. Bartender was extremely friendly and knew quite a lot about beer.
