I’m the kind of person that loves to try new things…I never want to go to the same place twice ESPECIALLY when on vacation & visiting somewhere I may never have the opportunity to visit again. I like to do and see as much as possible in the time I have…That being said…2/3 dinners were spent at Catrin and the only regret I have is that we aren’t staying longer to go again! The food was so fresh and so flavorful…the corn, tamales, shrimp tacos and the black pork…incredible!! Margaritas and mezcalitas perfectly made. And the staff…the kindest, friendliest, most welcoming! Roberto took care of us at the bar and the 2nd night we showed up he had a huge smile on his face when welcoming us back. Catrin felt like a home away from home. What an incredible experience. Thank you for helping to make our 1st trip to Mexico so overwhelming wonderful!

Very attentive staff. Great cocktails. Amazing food. The Tuna Toast is so tasty I went back for more. Go early or make a reservation.

El Catrín is a hip gastropub that specializes in Yucatecan food. It has a cool vibe, especially out back on its patio with its large bar and funky artwork on the walls. It is located on a trendy street with other great restaurants, just off Paseo de Montejo. This will be a go-to spot for us. We started with the guacamole and chips which was accompanied by a menagerie of sauces. We had the chicken skewers on a bed of spinach which were tasty. We also had the pork tacos which come with bone marrow. The marrow may not be everyone’s taste, but for those like me it’s delicious in an almost primal way.

Pretty good restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Good flavors and presentation. Two negative things from my experience: the cocktails are pretty pinche and are done in a few sips. It is also not a great place for solo travelers, they do not allow you to mix and match the tacos even if they are the same price. It comes with three tacos of the same kind only. would be better in a large group to split dishes.

Such an experience!! We thought the mural alone was worth visiting, we did not know it is a show every hour as it moves!! Amazing atmosphere, very good food (we had the rib-eye taco’s) and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Definitely go when you visit Merida. Tip: a table at the patio to see the mural!!

The food here is absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Some of the best food I've had in a very long time. I would not recommend the desserts. But the food is amazing! Jesus was our waiter and he was very attentive and friendly. Overall we loved our experience here.

Probably the most creative place I've been to in Yucatán. The menu had some very interesting and original options, and the food was absolutely delicious! Service was impeccable, and the video projection in the courtyard area was an awesome touch! Highly recommended!

Probably the best tacos I've ever had (Gobernado y Lechon). Their Ceviche is the most unique I've tasted. Catrin is a must visit in Merida! Generous portions for your entire group and salsa sampling you won't forget. Their seasoned chips were also a delicious delight.

Wow, wow, wow! Que magnifico! Come for the incredible regional food, stay for the Senor Esqueleto light show where he comes to life and dances to Thriller and more! And all very affordable! We had a giant group (Orthopterists' Society) and all had a wonderful time! And, of course, we ate many bowls of guacamole con chapulines!

Very chill and good service. Ordered Arroz with octopus and shrimp, taste of tomato sauce and char grill had a perfect balance. Octopus is tender and shrimp is fresh. Also tried the seafood stuffed pepper , be cautious- it’s very spicy even for a person who has high tolerance on spicy level. Atmosphere is also quiet. The backyard is very fun lighting during night, recommend a walk!

Catrin was a nice find! The bar menu is extensive. The entree menu is quite small. The restaurant seems geared to the bar and small plates. Vegeterians, this place has great options. I had the roasted beet and cauliflower steak. The beet was marvelous, with a sweet crema and pistachios. The cauliflower steak was very welcome. After weeks of meat, having just vegetables was necessary. It is too bad they don't serve more vegetable plates! Another unusual find was the tiramisu of Mexican cheeses. Not a traditional tiramisu, which is great, but full of unusual cheeses that will surprise.

We’ve only been in Mexico for a couple of days but dinner at Catrin has been a highlight so far. Fantastic atmosphere especially in the garden, amazing cocktails and really great food. Service was brilliant and very helpful, we are travelling with a coeliac and there were heaps of choices, the staff really knew which dishes would be ok or not -

Make a reservation for the patio. Google said not too busy after 8pm but still had to wait for a table and then were seated inside. Cool place with an extensive, online drink menu. Take a few minutes to look it over before ordering. The margarita cocktails were excellent. The food was all flavourful and well prepared. Started with Aguachilie shrimp and chapolines. Didn't find the chapolines added much but the slivers of tomatillo were a nice touch. Nopales salad was nicely dressed. Lechón tacos and Michoacan pork we're both great but the later was a more hearty dish for the same price. Overall it was a good experience and I will go back...but with a patio reservation. Fun fact, the cashier crochets the coasters.

Went to Catrins last night with a foodie friend from Palm Springs, California. Were we impressed! Atmosphere's fabulous! Great art, lighting and a cute little shop. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't sit outside to fully appreciate the stunning light show. Full up. MAKE RESERVSTIONS! Our servers were attentive without being a pain, and quite charming. They have an original menu. Our starters were a beet dish and great guacamole. They also provide gratis blue and white corn chips with a flight of nice dip sauces. Then a unique watermelon salad along with beer marinated brisket. I'm in love... Without a doubt will go again..and again...and again. Though this time with reservations to sit in the darling courtyard.

Delicious Mexican food. But the salsas, wow! The salsas were amazing!! We ordered the guacamole with grasshoppers, and totally loved it. The margaritas also nicely mixed. Don't miss out, this is a great place to have high profile Mexican food in Mérida.

Beautiful place and food, but really weird vibes. We asked for a table for two, but there were told there was a wait, so they'd take our number and call when one came up. An hour later we were told there was only room at the bar. We persevered and have it a go as the food looked so good. Turns out there was some sort of event so we were never going to get a table... Not sure why we weren't told that in the beginning. Luckily the food was worth the weird vibe.

It was the best food experience which we tried in Mexico ( Yucatan and Quintana Roo)! 🥰 We could highly recommend this place for food or drink! There is magic atmosphere especially in the court in background. We had a guacamole , Tacos de Filete de res en costra de Queso Frito and beers. Everything was just amazing but the Tacos was definitely the most tasty which we have had in Mexico. We also would like thank you for waiter which provide us service at the bar! 🍻🍽

Food, drinks, vibe & location - 5/5! We had various dishes around Tacos with chicken and a few drinks. Nothing of it was NOT delicious! The backyard has a very impressive light-show on a graffiti wall. Make sure to sit outdoor even if it‘s a bit dark. Certainly a recommendation!

very cute spot, service was good, they had pretty good shrimp tacos & margaritas. They gave us a complimentary bone marrow that my meat eating friends said are good!
