Excellent Mexican, Yucatan restaurant. Good selection of food. They cook very tasty food. Portions are normal sizes. Good price. Attentive staff. There are English speaking waiters. Very pleasant atmosphere. Nice Latin American music. Great place and great value for money!

This place will give you you the best Yucatán dining experience of your life. This obviously comes as no surprise to the locals but this is easily one of if not the best restaurant in Merida. I was heading elsewhere and my Uber driver detoured me to this place. Reviewing each dish is a waste of time, because everything I invested in this establishment was life changing. This place perfectly embodies the taste of Yucatán, so this is a must stop. The service is also extraordinarily seamless and the camaraderie and pure joy of the staff is on full display . I’d be excited to see this place garner the first Michelin star in Merida. You

Fantastic place, and lovely museum. Food was great, very tasty dishes with nice presentation. Cuisine is very traditional and worth visiting. Service was outstanding and amazing venue. The museum was small but very nice. However, not the best food we’ve tried at Merida.

Although it is a restaurant for tourists, the ambiance is great. Waiters are friendly and enjoyable. The food is exquisite and prices are a little above average, but it is worth it. One more thing: if they say the sauce is hot, the sauce IS HOT! No reason to doubt it. 😂

At first we thought this was only a restaurant and weren’t sure if it’s a museum as well. The restaurant has a courtyard and the museum is located on the side and in the back behind the restaurant. The food was dry and lacked flavour and need a lot of salsa to make it taste good. The restaurant provides a small amount of salsa with your food and you'll need to ask for more as the amount that come with you meal is hardly enough. One thing going for them is that the staff is very friendly and the service was really fast. After your meal take a walk through the museum to learn more about the regional cuisine and how they used to make it.

This place seems like it has tourist trap written all over it, but I was pleasantly surprised. We thought we would avoid the crowds if we went in day time on a weekday, but it didn't make a difference. We ended up taking a seat at the bar to avoid the 30 minute wait for a table. We were confused though as when we walked in, there were several open tables. We ended up ordering the sampler plate for 2 people, which ended up being the best option. The chicken breast was my favorite, but everything was good. This was honestly the best meal we had in the Yucatan, and the price was quite reasonable. I will note however, at least if you're eating at the bar, you will need a smartphone to view the menu, as it is only available in digital. And as others have pointed out, at the end of the day, this is a restaurant first and a museum second. The museum part of it, is more about village life and cooking methods and much less so about recipes and the origins of the actual dishes. And I will take a gander, that you probably need to order something at the restaurant to be able to visit the museum.

If you are going for dinner, it's not a museum, just a restaurant. There is nothing on the menu to explain any significance to the dishes and our server was so tight-lipped that he dropped off the chips and dip without explaining what the scoops/dips were (For those playing at home, the lighter-colored one was a pumpkin seed dip in an unusual presentation - I think the other was black bean based.) We were bummed that the "museum" part was not in effect for dinner. The waiter didn't answer questions and the menu didn't include any additional reading material, but we were far more bummed that the food wasn't as good as what we'd had for lunch down the street. We sat, with empty glasses, for over an hour before we gave up and flagged down our server to bring us the check. The whole experience was well past underwhelming.

What an experience! I was very positively surprised. The food was super delicious, especially the cochinita! I got 4-5 tortillas for this. It was really delicious and rich. By the way, the atmosphere is also fantastic. I liked it very well.

The best part of this restaurant is certainly the genuine Merida style courtyard where you can have a pleasant dinner in plein air. Delicious cocktails, an appreciable variety of wines and the food is tasty and well prepared. The worst part of this place is the welcome desk, disorganized and a bit unwelcoming where 5-6 ladies ask you to wait on the side of the entrance without having barely idea of the table shifts or even the approximate timing of the next table to be released. Booking is highly recommended!

This without a doubt a world class restaurant. We were in Merida for only one week. We walked by one Thursday afternoon and dropped in for cocktails and a snack. We were so pleased we came back for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I can honestly say I have never eaten in the same restaurant three times in one week a town in a country where we don't live. Everything about this restaurant makes it special.

Two stars and that is because we had friendly service and the drinks were good. Food was cold and tortillas were dry; not fresh. The food was bland and not seasoned well. You can get street tacos that are fantastic for a fraction of the cost. I’d say this place is a tourist trap because of the atmosphere, it is very beautiful inside but the Mugy especial was not tasty even though it was well presented. The dogfish empanadas were a weird texture inside and again not seasoned. Nothing was served with any truly spicy salas which you would typically get. We came here because of the google reviews. Wouldn’t recommend.

THIS PLACE IS GREAT!!!!! Amazing Mayan food, and a gorgeous space too. My wife and I ate here two years ago, and have been wanting to come back ever since. It was even better than before! The complimentary bean dips with chips are out of this world. Tonight we had the sausage appetizer and a stuffed vegan squash, plus cheesecake flan for dessert. Left full and incredibly happy. We will be back!

Authentic Yucatan restaurant. The decor is beautiful and the vibe was amazing. We were very full so we didn’t order much. But I love the sopa de Lima! Very flavorful lime soup with shredded turkey. Drinks were delicious too.

Indulged in delectable Yucatecan cuisine at this gem. The diverse cocktail selection perfectly complemented the flavorful dishes. The charming decor added to the inviting ambiance. Highly recommend for anyone exploring Merida.

7/10 - Content, but no flavors or experiences exceeding the less pricey and well-published establishments in the area. Their menu is deep and has a great selection, but beware if you are vegetarian. I estimate 10% of the dish options are vegetarian. I ordered two "starter" items. The food arrived quickly and in an attractive delivery. Everything was well dressed. 1. Panuchos. 9/10 - Great dish. It isn't too heavy. It was a little too greasy, but I didn't mind. 2. Mukbil Pollo Enterrado. 6/10 - nothing good nor bad about it. It was bland and felt like a blend of every Yucatan dish I've eaten in Merída. It had one flavor I now call "Merída". The service was good and the staff was very attentive. Lovely outdoor seating. I gave the place a +1 point for the outdoor seating. Beautiful. Probably made everything taste +1 better than it would have in a different restaurant. I hope this helps. If you are looking for Merida food options I have left several Merida food reviews you can see on my profile.

Upscale local cuisine. Appreciated the restaurant has its own museums shows the history and tools of cuisine. But feeling bad about that 2 ladies who was making Tortillas as the part of exhibition… also wish they offer simpers for one person

One of the best places in Merida to eat Yucatán food. Even being a bit touristic, it is a place commonly chosen by locals as well because it preserves the taste and flavors of the real Yucateca cuisine. Everything, even the tortillas, are made by hand and Cochinita is buried like the ancient style (you can also see it). Do not miss the free tour guide around the museum. It is an amazing experience

Don’t miss Museo de la Gastronomía Yucatan for the most incredible and authentic meal you can imagine in Merida! We had the sampler of authentic, native dishes and it was incredible. The cocktails were off the charts. To top it all off, a very friendly wait staff. Most importantly, an excellent vibe all around.

It's a really nice restaurant with amazing atmosphere and people. They offered information about the main traditional dishes in a 15 min tour for free with Carlos, who is well prepared and prompted to answer questions. They were really kind and ordered and even waited for my Uber (20 min after-work hours) to arrive. I will definitely come back and recommend it.

Best spot for a nice dinner. They serve Mayan food. The food is good value and very tasty. Cocktails are tasty, and they have a good selection of beers (some local micro brew). The garden seating area is amazing. The decor is really nice. The place is very clean. There is a little museum attached that you can visit! There are some good Mayan food options around, but this is the best.

This restaurant was an amazing experience all around. The ambiance was classy and the interior had trees and vegetation growing in a courtyard/dining area. My table was in a room off from this courtyard but the tables were larger (for big groups) and the walls were adorned with amazing art. Not to mention the floor tiles looked like original Spanish tiles still colorful and vibrant. All this was just the place itself now the food I ordered was on a whole other level. I started with the Turkey Lime Soup that was so delicious and went down so quick and easy. Then I had this absolutely amazing chicken which I forget the name of at this moment but it was seasoned and wrapped in a banana leaf then placed and buried in a fire pit to cook. It came out on a really hot sizzling skillet and let me tell you that when I opened the leaf the chicken was so moist and tender, it literally fell right off the bone. I couldn't recommend this dish even more, it was worth every penny. If you're ever in Mérida Mexico I'd make it a point to go to this restaurant, 10 out of 10 would dine again!

Best traditional meal we had in Mexico. The place is massive they must do 1000-2000 covers a day but each room in small and the service was good. Food was amazing. The first and second options in the entree section are amazing. The egg tamale was mind blowingly good.

Good restaurant where to try traditional food. Service very attentive and friendly. There is also a little exposition area where to find traditional tools.

I was absolutely stunned by this restaurant! The food was delicious. I got the cochinita pibil and it was very yummy. I loved how traditional the restaurant was. After dinner, we went through the museum and saw the traditional Mayan ways of cooking. There were women making the tortillas for the restaurant, and underground ovens! I was stunned. If you have an opportunity to come here, do it! You will have a phenomenal experience.

Nice place although not a WOW compared to the many new restaurants popping up in Merida. The food was fine. For starters the shrimp were excellent, the vegan patty I could not eat. The 'vegan' stuffed cheese was very good and I was told that the turkey tacos were very good as well. My Sangria Yucatan was interesting. No dessert. Check out the back of the restaurant, very beautiful gardens... not sure how you get seated there.

If you want tacos there are much better and cheaper places. If you want great ambiance and atmosphere or wanted to try other dishes come here. Great layout and decor. Very airy and roomie. Don’t forget to walk out back to see the history part. To sum it up average tacos and great decor. I had Yucatean special and found it all good but for the price I was expecting to be wowed.

On a Sunday night on Merida, not all places to have dinner are open. Also it is difficult to find taxis. This restaurant was about 12 blocks from the hotel. After waiting about 15 minutes for a taxi to appear, we decided to walk. The temperature was perfect, as it had rained during the afternoon, reducing the Mérida heat. The restaurant was an old house in the center of town, with the typical galleries and center garden with trees. They kept all trees, however covered the earth with cement, so tables and chairs could be placed. The restaurant has excellent typical local food, and if you have a party of 4 you can share 4 different dishes and tastes. This is a must visit place.
