If
you
have
visited
Mayan
ruins,
than
this
museum
is
a
must,
additionally
it
provides
an
escape
from
the
searing
heat
of
Merida.
For
an
English
speaker
it
would
be
nice
if
everything
was
translated,
or
if
an
English
speaking
guide
or
portable
audio
phones
were
available.
On
one
side
is
a
nice
short
bit
on
evolution
and
evidence
of
the
giant
meteorite
crash
off
the
coast
of
Yucatán,
believed
to
have
caused
the
great
extinction
of
most
dinosaurs,
long
before
our
human
ancestors
emerged.
On
the
Mayan
side
we
learn
about
early
Mayan
myths
of
origin
from
an
egg,
not
unlike
many
indigenous,
Asian,
even
Finnish
myths.
The
Museum
artifacts
trace
several
stages
of
Mayan
culture,
up
to
and
including
colonization.
When
we
got
back
to
our
hotel,
a
review
of
the
Spanish
only
Museum
brochure
indicated
there
was
a
theatre,
which
shows
a
3D
video
on
the
Mayans.
We
wish
we
had
known
that.
Maybe
because
we
visited
on
Sunday,
the
theatre
was
closed,
as
was
the
restaurant.
