After looking at the reviews here to get information, we visited the cenotes and wanted to provide our thoughts and hopefully provide information you need in one place. First, there are two cenotes at this location. We arrived at 9am which is when it opened (despite listing that said it opened at 8am). We were the first ones there and got to enjoy both of them to ourselves! They are both wonderful and breathtaking in their own way. One of them sits in a more open area with views of the sky surrounded vines hanging down the walls. The clear water that reflects aqua color is breathtaking. A part of the cenote is covered with flowering lily pads that adds to the wonder of the view and enhances the experience. The other cenote is accessible via wooden steps and in more set into a cave. There is a long wooden dock along the shore with ladders to climb in/out of the cenote. The ceiling is home to birds in their clay nests. The water also reflects a turquoise color. I would highly recommend a snorkel for both cenotes to get a better view of the extended caves that the cenotes encompass. Second, the drive to the cenote may seem like you are in the middle of nowhere. Once off the main road, you drive along a narrow roads where you need to stop to let others pass by and a city that feels lost in time. I think it is Hacienda Cacao. The ruins of the city are a site to see and you pass by. As you enter San Antonio Mulix, you see a sign indicating the price of the tickets. The cost was $100 pesos per person for 45 minutes in each cenote for a total of 90 minutes. You can also rent life jackets and snorkels (we paid 60 pesos for the snorkel). The entrance to the cenotes are a little further up the road. Once you get in (someone at the gate collects your ticket), you can drive to either cenote. To maintain the beauty of the cenotes, you cannot take food or drinks into the cenote and you must rinse off before you go in. Additionally, no sunscreen is allowed to avoid polluting the water with a film of sunscreen. Hopefully this is helpful

Loved it. Came on a Wednesday and had the entire place to ourselves. Be sure to rinse off any chemicals you have on your body prior to getting in to keep the place pristine. There are some steps to get to the cenote but not super steep.

I have been living and exploring Yucatan for 11 months now and this has been one of my favorite cenotes. You get to visit two the first is an “open” cenote and the second is more closed in. For the most part it’s well organized and staff/attendants are pleasant. Changing rooms are available at every cenote location.

Top 1 cenote, feeling in the jungle, we were alone. The whole area is clean, the locals preserve both cenotes. After a route through Yucatan, was our favourite. The difference in the price between foreigners (100 pesos) and nationals (50 pesos) I don’t understand, plus asking for a tip every single time. This is a general reflection of our journey in Mexico.

A beautiful and scenic cenote. Take a lovely dip in the wonderful cool, crystal clear water.

Here you get two cenotes close to eachother but the first one (xbatun) is much better than the other. We just stopped for a quick refreshing swim on the way to uxmal. Xbatun is probably a better choice for diver.

Awesome! Definitely worth going. The water is crystal clear and with a little bit of luck you can enjoy it without other people. There are two cenotes in fact, both amazing and quite different. The price is 50 pesos. Don't miss it !

Great experience! Two small cenotes, not far from each other. The entrance fee for both was 50 for Mexican and 100 for foreigners.

This was such a gorgeous cenote. We were warned there were a lot of bees, but most of them were Mayan bees, which don't sting. There were a few wasps, but they weren't hanging out where we were swimming, so it was all good.

Me gusto mucho, esta muy padre el lugar. This Cenote is small but still very impressive. I loved swimming here and seeing the little fish and vegetation at the bottom. Please be sure to check the closing times, I believe they close at 5 so be aware.

Very easy to find and the people of the nearby village were very helpful. Nice and quiet little cenote. If you are ticklish keep swimming because the little fish tend to start cleaning your skin when you stay in one spot :)

Every cenote is different. This vone is quite small but has it's own magical quality. If you are into scuba diving you can rent tanks and equipment to explore the underground caves

If you arrive before 10, you will probably have this incredibly beautiful and peaceful place to yourself 💙 My personal favourite cenote, and I’ve visited over 10 different ones.

A great place to chill down and swim. The water is clear and deep. I could rent life preserver. It is possible to jump in to it. The entrance fee is still less expensive. You have shower and locker to. Next to the Cenote is restaurant with a small menu.

The place does not communicate well. When we call them, they told us they close at 17:00. We arrived at 15:50 and they already closed the ticket sale… very random policy. (We even tried to rush to get there before 16:00, after reading the reviews below but still no chance. Maybe next time, try going early in the morning..)

We arrived at 9:30 on a Thursday in Dezember. First people there, we had the cenote totally to ourselves. Drive there might be a bit challenging in a really low vehicle, but definitely manageable. The cenotes are just beautiful and in one you even get some fish nibbling at you. Definitely recommended. Also only 100 Pesos per person.

nice and picturesque but there's usually people around and also they charge a ridiculous 500mxn fee for bringing in a camera. mobile phones are fine though. someone explain the sense of this to me. as the cenote is not so deep it actually looked a bit murky underwater and there was also a filth/body oil film on top

Very nice cenote. Not too crowded. Open air

  • 4/5 Mike F. 2 years ago on Google
It's small, but if your lucky to have it to yourself for a while, it's an amazing, tranquil, idyllic temple of nature. -1 star: The 45min limit is a bit ridiculous (especially when there are few people), as is the camera rule (dslr only if you pay additionally, but mobiles are fine).

The cave cenote was Worth the drive part on a primitive road. The water is aqua and has a magical feel. Left my hair and skin very soft. The outside cenote is also nice, some small biting fish though. I didnt stay as long as it was pretty crowded for a small space and not much room to chill. I couldn’t see the restaurants mentioned.

A rugged dirt road led to a small paradise! First cenote we’ve seen so didn’t have much to compare it to. Arrived at 8:30 after reading they opened at 8. The ticket office didn’t open until 9:30 so we waited around for a bit. Allowed to spend 45 min in each cenote and a guide checks you in and out (keeps a ledger). You must rinse off before walking down the steps to the cenote. The first one is more open and the send is enclosed in a cave. Birds and bats flying above your head add to the natural experience! This was a pleasant adventure!

This is not a place you want to visit! It’s a beautiful natural cenote, there’s two actually, but the place is run down, smells bad and it’s not in good condition period. Use your time and driving visiting other places.

Very beautiful!!!! I loved seeing the micro bats flying above. It was not crowded with tourists at all which was what we were hoping for. And having the option to get a life jacket or not was nice.

Nice cenote but poor experience. We were charged 150 pesos each (from other reviews price was 100 just a couple of weeks ago) Were told when we bought tickets that both cenotes closed at 5 but once in at X’ Batún we were told the other had already closed at 4.30. Ignored when we tried to discuss. Feeling ripped off….

  • 5/5 Rene A. 4 years ago on Google
It is a very beautiful cenote to enjoy and to refresh from the intense heat of the region. The only problem is that might get quite full as many tour operators and people stop by there. So better try to arrive very early there. There are 2 restaurants inside the facilities where You can eat. We only try one of them and the food was very nice. Be aware that on summer season the area is full with dragon flies and it is really awful to try to run to avoid get bitten by the flies. So if You have small children take care for this situation during the wet summer season.

What can I say about this place. You really need to come see it for yourself. It's a bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive. Just keep following Google and you will get there it is a bit of a long drive and you feel like your going the wrong way as there are no signs to speak of. Also there are 2 cenotes here

  • 3/5 Romain G. 4 years ago on Google
You had to pay an entrance fee of 80 pesos for foreigner to see 2 cenotes. The cenote itself is beautiful but don't expect too much when you get there. It can get very busy as soon as some groups come.

When I visited it, it was nice just for a picture but the water was cloudy and a wee stinky. The other cenote was great for bathing. Sadly the area is littered, a problem that could be easily solved by the staff since they were busy killing time by playing with their phones.

(Translated by Google) It is one of the cenotes that we enjoy the most and the one we have visited the most. It is very quiet. Be nothing delicious, the temperature of the water is not cold, it is warm and in many occasions when the environment is colder outside the water becomes warm. Really recommended. The cenote is located in the town of San Antonio Mulix. Access costs $ 35 per person, you pay in the village at a hostel that is indicated with a large sign. You advance 100 m to the right and in another booth you leave the entrance cards. You advance 3 km of dirt and at the fork you take on the left for X'Batum, on the right is Dzonbakal.

(Translated by Google) I put a star because I can not put less: we have done a lot of road so far by 37 degrees outside and smashed road. We arrive at 4 p.m., the cenote closes at 5 p.m. and we are told that we can no longer come in to swim but just to see ... and that we still have to pay 80 pesos. A big joke, and without explanations. Run away and go see other cenotes!
