This was our favorite temple. It was quiet and plenty of information to read along the site. We are still able at time of writing to get close and climb the different structures. We loved it there. And we love the many iguanas who decided to make this place home. Great value. $65 pesos each. Definitely worth the visit

Kate wanted to get out of the house, with recent engine work we did not want to go to far from home. The site is very nice, we opted for a guide at 500 pesos for a group. Another visitor joined us. His tour was the primary focus, his knowledge of the primary building and mask on the facade and paintings were revealing. With exception of one building I could have pushed a wheelchair through grass on the tour. Take water for drinking, bugs were not bad. There is a Public Restroom at the main entrance.

Due to objections by the indigenous peoples (from what I understand it's about revenue sharing), the entrance to this newer archeological site is blocked and the site is not open. We traveled a good distance to have the experience of these ruins so of course we were disappointed. But I am giving 5 stars to the folks that we're maintaining their presence in front of the entrance! This then left more time for the beautiful locally run cenotes!!

Wow this place was atmospheric. And we had the site almost to ourselves! Avoid the crowds of larger sites and visit this one while in the area - you won’t be disappointed. Well maintained, this lesser visited park is a gem. Bathrooms are available at the entrance. Memories come with the price of admission and can be kept forever.

Spectacular place! One of the few places you can still climb around on (more about that later). Well preserved (some restored) and wildly impressive. This is one of my favorite ruins in Yucatán. Few people, simple place, free to roam and reasonable cost. In regards to climbing around, please watch where you step, there is still a list of original stucco, carvings, etc. also be sure not to have sunscreen or oil on your hands. As you climb the stairs you will have o touch things on the way up and down. Help preserve this sacred place and stones. Thanks

It's very very hot so dress accordingly. It was a beautiful place and one of the only ruins they still allow ppl to climb. The sites are well maintained bring mesquite spray. Lots to learn.

Mayapan is an important place for understanding the history and prehistory of the Yucateco Maya culture. Visiting this relatively small archaeological site was one of the best experiences I have had of all the many sites I have visited. There were probably fewer than 20 people here on a Wednesday afternoon. Best of all there were no vendors following me around trying to sell cheap, Chinese made goods. One of the last sites where you can climb the the ruins. This now makes the experience unique. Highly recommended.

It truly was an amazing place to visit. We booked this through Carnival and really enjoyed the excursion. Our tour guide was phenomenal. I highly recommend this excursion. The site is breathtaking.

These are my favorite ruins visited so far because you can actually climb them. The views from the top are amazing. The whole complex has a couple of pyramids, astrological point and something else. It is full of funny iguanas. Guides are very professional and enjoyable. Sincerely recommend

Beautiful site, not many people visit it. You can climb every structure here. There's a drained cenote on the site, and you will spot many lizards of all kinds here. Highly recommend it! Entry fee 50 pesos.

This place is a must see! We went on a guided tour and then they gave us about an hour to go around on our own. You can auctally climb to the top if you choose. Be prepared for the heat. Bring plenty of water.

My wife and I visited these Mayan ruins as an excursion with Carnaval. It was an awesome experience to see all the structures. The Temple of Kukulcan was amazing! The steps were very steep, but the view at the top was worth it! I definitely would like to return in the future!

Classic Mayan temples and observatory in a small area. This was one of the last cities to survive before Mayan collapse. You can still walk up some temples but steps are really steep. This can get crowded when cruise ships come in to progresso.

You most visit this archeological site, is just impressive, you have all that Chichen has and even better as all the ruins are together, you can still climb the tallest Pyramid and it's very high, FYI back in the day Mayapan beat Chichen in a war, and Mayapan is consider one of the most important cities of ancient mayas. Go early as it is very hot. It was 44° C when I went.

Sehr sehenswerter Ort. Wenig besucht und vieles frei zugänglich. Ebenso kann die große Pyramide bestiegen werden und bietet einen atemberaubenden Blick über die Stätte und auch das Umland. Kostenloses Parken war hier ohne Probleme möglich.

You will love this place as there are little to no tourists wandering around the archeological site. Also, this is one place where you can still climb up the pyramid!

We had an English version tour guide who wear earrings shown us around the ruins. They're available to be hired at the entrance. 450 pesos per group. He is very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommend! I'm happy to support the local tour guide with a reasonable price. p.s. they also provide Italian, French, Spanish, and so on for tour.

Went as part of an excursion through Carnival Cruise lines. What a great day! The only thing that could have made this site more enjoyable would have been more time to enjoy all there was to look at.

My favorite archeological site in Yucatán. Mayapan is a must visit on your trip to the peninsula. On my visit, there was much to see. The Kukulcan Pyramid is amazing and the other structures were awesome as well. The main pyramid at Mayapan is one of the few remaining that allows you to go up to the top. The view from the top is gorgeous. There are no vendors and the entrance is significantly cheaper than other sites. I highly recommend Mayapan.

Probably as beautiful as Chichen Itza and not nearly as crowded. Pretty affordable and close to Merida. Great views and you can walk around freely without any worries. 10/10

WOW!! It's such a neat place to visit. Not many people, being able to climb up on the temples, was a great experience. It is a very physical climb to the top. You will find pottery scattered throughout the ruin area. Be sure to leave it there as it is a federal offense to take it out of the park. I highly recommend visiting the Mayapan Ruins. It was a little over an hour drive from Progreso.

Definitely take the time to visit the Mayapan Ruins you will not be disappointed! It's right off the highway about an hour from Mérida. Everything is accessible and climbable. There is cold water available and restrooms. Entrance price was about 70 pesos per person.

Nice Maya ruin that doesn’t have a lot of tourists. Entire site is compact and easy to get around. You can climb all the structures. It’s open at 8 am.

I love how taken care of the site was; they made sure to tell everyone to pick up after themselves & the location is in a quiet community, away from the city life. The staff is super friendly & knowledgeable! I would come back here to experience this all over again.

This Mayan city boasts a condensed variety of temple structures all of which can be climbed on and is the only cite that allows this do the the reasonable size of its temples. Clean and informative. A great way to spend a couple hours in the jungle and get a little exercise on those climbs.

Trip totally worth it!!! Only about 1h from Mérida. Our guide was super nice and explained us quite a few things about this site. PS: visit made on Wednesday, 29th September 2021

Beautiful place with so much history. A great place to go too if you've always wanted to ascend one of the pyramids. If you do decide to climb however, please do so with the absolute utmost care.

Ruins of Mayapan was so cool. Our tour guides Adam and Darius were amazing. They were so knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We really enjoyed this tour and learning about the history behind this site. Thank you Adam and Darius.

😐 This is a very very small cenote, set in the middle of the town. Neither swimmable, nor particularly interesting geologically. If you're passing through the town, it's maybe worth a look. But not worth going out of your way for
