Nice building, didn’t go to a show. I will definitely plan a visit to the Music Palace.

I thought that the reviews were exaggerating so we only went there with 1.5 hours time. Turns out that the reviews were a total understatement: As a teacher I have to say, every Museum needs to be like this one!!! So much interaction, exploring, listening, seeing, doing (yes, you even get to dance/learn steps interactively!). It’s amazing what has been set up here in Merida and this museum deserves a lot more recognition! It is a must when you’re in town. As I mother of a 19 months toddler, I especially appreciated the kids room where my daughter got to try out and play all kinds of instruments! We both had a blast today and I’m thinking about returning during our last couple of days in town; that’s how much we liked it. Downsides are the limited opening hours (we arrived on a Monday to learn that the museum is closed on Mondays and tuesdays), the missing toilet seats in the restrooms and the hygiene (huge cockroach at the sinks 😖).

Was pretty disappointed in this museum. Most of it is just sound stations that play soundbites of various musicians and the rest is interactive screens that play different musical instrument sounds. Would have liked to learned more about the history of Mexican music, who the biggest and most influential artists were/are, etc. but most of this museum just seemed like fluff. Wouldn’t recommend, especially since the ticket price is 200 pesos for non-residents.

New white elephant structure in downtown Merida. The museum portends to showcase Mexican music but includes only a very limited selection of styles. The visit was guided, following the finest Soviet style, allowing for limited time at the exhibits and making visitors move on, lest they be left behind to wander and look at things at their own leisure.

Unbelievable music history museum with an industrial feel. Cool comfort in the underground, massive cemented area that allows participants to go through at own pace through the various eras of time. One of the best museums we have ever visited. Highly recommend this as a must do in Merida. On another note...the ladies bathroom had NO toilet seats for some reason?? And the handicap stall has no grab bars. Just a heads up for those that need.

Very impressive new building. Unfortunately, it was not open when I was there, but you can walk through as per my photos. It's definitely worth a look 👌

The museum is neat (and free!) There are many touch screens (English and Spanish) to either listen to songs, learn about music, or play with arrangements. Movies about music and dancing are interesting. There's a small room with instruments to try that the kids really enjoyed. Be wary of visiting with children as the security guards with basically stalk you to make sure they behave!

Awesome and Free! Definitely plan to return, just can't listen to everything in one visit! Lots of places to sit down if you want a break. Oodles of head sets for listening to different genres and performers. Excellent use of a wide variety of technology for displays.

The museum is very interesting and well equipped. For someone interested in music I would recommend at least 3 hours to allow to absorb all the exhibitions. Giving two star less as most videos are only in Spanish and don't have captions which would be useful for visitors not understanding Spanish. Also the individual rooms should have some/more sound proofing so that you can hear the actual pieces better.

We attended a #Candlelight Coldplay tribute concert here and it was amazing! The staff were great and the facility was beautiful. Will definitely be back.

An extraordinary place to learn about various aspects of Mexican music across history, geography, genres, and names, highly recommended. Great interactive displays. Although it was difficult to concentrate on listening while the music and narratives are coming from multiple sources in the same room. For newcomers, a map of the floor would be helpful.

The stations are very interactive. There were cool videos of singers and dancers. I learned a lot about the musical history of the Yucatán area. We spent 2 hours there.

This is one of our favorite thing to do here in Merida. This is so well done, every concert has been absolutely amazing.

A fantastic museum. Most descriptions are in Spanish, English, and Mayan, all genres of Mexican music are represented, and the exhibits are very engaging and interactive. My only complaint was that there was no gift shop. Really, an excellent museum.

For starters, the building is very beautiful. It´s my favorite cultural spot in the city. Just try to arrive early so you can find a good parking spot!

Awesome museum! So much to see, hear and interact with. Definitely give yourself enough time to go through it all.

One of my favorite museums in the world. The bias comes from my love for music, but it is so extremely interactive. It has all these rooms that you get in through a curtain and then all of a sudden you are living different Mexican music eras and visuals.

We went there to see an art exhibition. Well displayed, spacious and not crowded. Artworks were for sale and reasonably priced. Oil, pallet knife with scenes of the beach, harbors and other natural locales.

Wow. So much here. It's beautiful and comprehensive. Could spend a week of rainy Saturday afternoons and still not hear everything.

Very new, air conditioned music museum. Well done and highly interactive, skews more to children and families but adults would enjoy with or without kids.

Beautiful building! Closed on Mondays but open on holidays if they land on a Monday as in semana santa.

Really nice modern building just in the middle of the downtown. I would highly suggest to go: there is a free exhibition on the basement. I only wish there was a bit more focus on the ancient regional instruments.

When will they stop tearing down the beautiful architecture to put up these ugly modern looking buildings. Cancel culture.

👍👍 Excellent restaurant! We went twice and I ordered the same thing each time because it was so good - a biscuit, huevos divorciados, and cafe con leche estilo bisquets. The cafe con leche is so delicious and the way they make it in front of you is so cool! The biscuit is as good as what you'll find in...
