Pretty cool remarkable historical monument in one of the busiest roundabouts in Merida, Paseo de Montejo, Monumento a La Patria, or the Homeland Monument, was the work of the Colombian sculptor, Romulo Rozo. It was inaugurated in 1956 that tells the story of Mexico from Tenochtitlan to the mid20th century. This is a priceless treasure and a must-see for any visitors in the area.

A stunning monument that combines elements of European and Mayan heritage of the city. It is a very unique statue, but after about 5 minutes of staring and taking pictures there is not much else there.

What a fantastic homage to the history of this country and representation of the beautiful states of Mexico. I saw reviews about graffiti but it has been cleaned off since those. I echo other reviews that getting there is a small challenge, but with patience there always ended up being a gap to run across quickly.

This place is beautiful. I recommend taking the city tour which is hosted by Oliva and ends here at this site. It explains the symbols and calendar monument well.

Located at the Paseo Montejo blvd. This structure has a lot of detail and history. It is a must see place in Mérida. If you are driving you can park on the designated spaces on the Paseo Montejo and walk over, most parking spaces are shaded by the trees. Crossing the street to the monument is very tricky because it is a roundabout and cars never stop to let you in, cross safely and quickly. Free for anyone to visit anytime

Beautiful modern Mayan inspired monument. It's worth the walk to check it out and walk around looking at all it's aspects. Be careful crossing the roundabout to get there.. it may not be apparent at first but there is one crosswalk with a police officer kind enough to stop traffic.

Monument is really worth visiting. It's a shame that it is a bit destroyed by vandalism. You need to go through a busy roundabout if you want to go around it. There was a policeman who stoped the traffic for us which was nice.

Very cool feature for a group photo, a short walk from many restaurants on Paseo de Montejo. After 10pm, still lit up and best for pics without traffic👌

Nice place to walk to and take some photos. It's at the end of the avenue and not much more to see past the monument

Took an Uber from Centro just to visit the monument before we left Merida. Both beautiful and impressive. Wish our Spanish had been better so we could have enjoyed the inscriptions.

Located in the middle of a busy round about. Worth a quick picture. Sadly it has been vandalized by graffiti but still nice to see.

Unfortunately, it has some minor vandalism but is very impressive nevertheless. It's worth the walk. Good to something worthwhile as a centrepiece of a roundabout

Beautiful landmark. It's worth taking a tour to understand the history behind it or download the app visit Mérida so you can so it without a tour guide. The government has an information booth for tourists near the Hyatt and fiesta Americana hotels.

When you visit it you can see that there are over 300 handed cut figures, which will represent the history of Mexico from the financing of Tenochtitlan until the mid-20th century. This is Amazing art You can take great pics here . Is kind of hard to get close because is in the middle of the street and there are so many cars .

Must stop for all tourists visiting Mérida. I particularly suggest visiting on a Sunday while the road is reserved to bikes and pedestrians.
