Progreso Cruise Ship Terminal

Tourist attraction Cruise terminal

😐 Our cruise stopped at this port. It is not like any other port we've been, nothing there and kind of primitive. But get on a bus a go explore the town, it has beautiful beaches, great food and lots of interesting places to see. People often mention port, terminal, great, shopping, nice, vendors,

Docked here and enjoyed the shopping. There was a free shuttle bus that took us to town for more shopping. So we did more shopping. There was a little place to get beer and drinks. Also ice cream. All and all it was very nice. All of the shop owners were polite and spoke English as much as possible.

It was a port stop on a Disney Cruise. It was fun, will definitely take another Disney Cruise.

Less scenic than other Carnival terminals, however it smells much less of sewage. Unless you take an expedition bus to the Mayan ruins, there is little to do other than grab a few mementos from the shops on the pier.

The terminal itself was cool, sales people are a little bit aggressive. Once you get on the bus and make your way across the 4 mile causeway shopping in the open air market can be very aggressive and competitive don’t decide to make a purchase until you have insured you have bargained for the best deal multiple vendors have the same products and multiple vendors have multiple booths or stores. Make sure you know the exchange rate ahead of time.

A nice cruise port in Progreso MEXICO! It is a military port, so there are active naval ships in the port as well. We loved the Mayan actors at the terminal as well. It's a cute location filled with shops ready for you to buy duty-free.

The terminal isn't bad, but it's under heavy construction. There's a decent shopping area right there at the port, but if you want to go beyond that to a beach or venture into local territory, you'll need a ride. I'd suggest getting an excursion to a private resort if you're not a fluent Spanish speaker.

Nice terminal however be mindful of some of the people on the terminal who will try to scam you out of your money. Someone offered to take a picture of me with my camera and then requested a tip. There were three men dressed in costumes.

The busses are free, they take you to the bus station & can take you back to boat. They sell tours at bus station that are way cheaper than cruise. Bus station is about 5 blocks (aggressive shops along the way) from beach. Beach is fenced off & $35. Recommend the drink armbands b/c drinks are expensive. We did technohotel all inclusive package for $50. Had a great time & they took us directly to the boat afterwards. Carlos was a great guide and the service at Technohotel was AMAZING! We will be back.

Progresso cruise ship terminal is one if the least favorite terminals we have ported in. One interesting fact though, it is the world's longest pier! That being said, taking a bus is a MUST. *Once off the pier* We booked an excursion through Carnival and ended up opting out of it. It was a $170 excursion. No food or drinks included and they told us AFTER WE BOOKED we would not be able to get in the water because the beach was closed. No thank you! 8 hours in Mexico with no food, water or swimming? RESEARCH BEFORE GOING ON ANY EXCURSION!!! We took a short bus ride off the pier and into town. We walked a few blocks to the local market where we ate authentic Mexican food. It was the best ever! Handmade, fresh empanadas for $1 each! We then walked through the rest of the market and headed to the local beach. We got 2 chairs and an umbrella for a total of $15. Be careful! If they offer to bring you drinks, DON'T DO IT!!!! My friend got a bucket of beer (6) and they charged her $50 and added a hefty tip on top of that. Either bring your own drinks or go get them yourself. And don't leave items unattended! Not a safe place to do that.

Clean port, welcoming staff and vendors for tourists. When disembarking it was easy to find where we needed to go and on reboarding was fast and easy.

We visited this cruise ship terminal on a recent vacation. Compared to the other ship terminals during our stops, this ranked the lowest. Paying attention to details like cleanliness, goes a long ways. Especially as a vacation destination for tourist. Very difficult to get to the beaches as well. I would not recommend it very highly.

The terminal was great but there was quite a bit of rudeness from passengers trying to get back to their ship.

It was beautiful, but vendors are very pushy. You can find whatever souvenirs you might be looking for though, so weigh the options for yourself. There are large signs that are great for photos as well. All in all a nice port
