So pleasantly surprised by this food experience. Started with fried pickles that were perfectly fried to a thin golden crisp with a spicy mayo. They were abundant in quantity and super enjoyable. Hubby had a Reuben, which is a go-to for him, and it was a good meat to sauerkraut ratio, not overly greasy or fatty. Came with crispy golden steak fries. He gave it an A for taste and value. MIL enjoyed a chicken burrito that was the size of her head. It was jam-packed with chicken and beans and smothered in salsas and sour cream. It was a lot of food in a hearty delivery. She loved it but did leave some of it untouched at the end of her meal due to its sheer size. I had a classic club, triple layer turkey, and bacon in perfectly sized sections. I opted for ranch over mayo, and it was a great sandwich. Everything tasted fresh, and I also got the crispy fries. They were the way I like them - not oily and crispy golden steak style. Overall, we were super pleased with our stop into the Grog. We had kind and attentive service by Melissa and left full and happy.

This is a nice local restaurant for good food and good vibes. Make sure to make a reservation to avoid waiting, it can be quite packed for dinner. I highly recommend the mussels, it’s very fresh and real!

It's not bad! Definitely a cool bar with great beet and cider selections. I added a bowl of ClamWin Chowder and it wasn't bad...very thin, but had lots of class and potatoes. Service was great. I'd come back if in the area.

My honey and I had dinner here one night when we visited the area and it was great. I had a little trouble finding a drink they could make that wasn’t full of sugar but the food was awesome! We got two entrees and shared them. We got the sweet corn risotto because I was so curious about that, and the marinated steak tips. Both dishes were delicious! Mashed potatoes were on point! I would love to visit again and try something else!

For the amount of food you get, the prices are decent and it felt "cozy." (We had lunch there.) Here's where The Grog didn't live up to my standards: 1. There are very limited healthy options if you want something other than salad. Dishes are either deep fried, have heavy cream or tons of butter in them. 2. Sandwiches come with fries. You couldn't substitute a small garden salad or fruit for the same price. 3. I ordered a sandwich and requested that they not put bacon in it. I got bacon. 4. My friend ordered the salmon for lunch assuming that she would get the lunch price, but the waitress charged her the dinner price. She didn't even ask my friend which one she wanted. The Grog refused to give her the price for lunch which was so wrong.

The Grog is one of my Newburyport favorites. Been visiting it for years and the food is always delicious and well prepared. They have lot's of seating and a good beer selection too.

The food was very good. Staff was nice, polite, and accommodating to our requests. That atmosphere was okay. The interior is very dark. Everything is dark wood and low lighting.

Wow… Bouillabaisse is delicious! Grog burger is excellent! Key lime is amazing! Fish’n Chips is generous! Catherine our waitress was caring, profesionnal, the best!
