Mill
No.
5
is
one
of
the
success
stories
of
a
reborn
Lowell.
My
wife
and
I
often
take
visiting
family
and
friends
here
on
weekends
because
the
ambience,
variety
and
surprises
are
always
a
hit
(and
our
guests
like
to
return
-
it
grows
on
them).
On
weekdays,
when
many
of
the
Mill
No.
5
shops
do
not
open,
I
walk
over
anyway
for
the
Coffee
&
Cotton
or
the
Mill
City
Cheesemongers.
This
indoor
village
is
more
about
nurturing
and
conserving
things
of
human
value
than
it
is
about
being
hip.
In
some
ways
it
is
quite
conservative,
reusing
from
the
past
what
still
has
vitality.
Shopkeepers
and
venture
owners
get
a
chance
to
take
a
leap
of
faith
to
share
with
others
what
products
and
creations
give
them
joy,
hoping
to
do
honest
business
and
thrive.
Not
everyone
succeeds,
but
many
do,
and
new
ideas
come
along
to
fill
any
empty
spaces.
I
am
lucky
to
live
within
walking
distance
and
to
observe
the
courage,
persistence,
imagination
and
success
of
Mill
No.
5.
Yes
it
does
have
stairway
entrances/exits
in
addition
to
the
single
elevator,
and
signs
are
mounted.
