Well I think this will be a lovely hotel at some point in the future. At this time however, there are a number of issues that need to be addressed. Firstly they are very short of staff. The staff that are there are great, very helpful and always polite and smiling. But they are overworked and appeared tired. The hotel has no public transport transport connections, the drive is 1.5 miles long& I believe that local accommodation for staff is either very expensive, or at a distance that means possible new staff would have to drive to get there. Currently the swimming pool and spa are not finished, also the internal doors are very heavy and not powered, so as a mobility scooter user getting around is very difficult. The entertainment I experienced is excellent , I enjoyed both the Ed Sheran and the Elton John shows , they were first class. My overall impression was as I said at the beginning of this review, it will be a lovely hotel once it is finished and they have recruited more staff.

Great big hotel with top quality renovation recently finished. Choice of 3 restaurants, all good quality, loads of activities and superb evening entertainment to choose from. Cracking spa and swimming pool, and huge grounds to explore when the sun came out. Lovely and friendly staff, couldn’t find a fault.

Karen and Toby and Shelley couldn't of been anymore helpful. It was my partners birthday and they made our weekend very special. They are a great asset to this hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely go back as lovely hotel and the staff made it.

When we arrived by coach. One of the welcome staff met us. Once the coach had stopped, we had a short walk with our luggage to the hotel. Our door key was given to us upon arrival. The maps of the hotel can be confusing. The room were very clean and comfortable. A fridge was in our room that had a pint of milk as well as 2 bottles of water. One still water and the other sparkling. There was coffee and tea making facilities. Decaffeinated coffee as well as normal coffee. Tea bags and sugars. In the bathrooms were small bottles of shampoo and conditioner as well as body wash etc. The air-conditioning in the room was a good addition especially when it is particularly hot. There are lifts to all floors as well as stairs. There are lots of signs around the hotel to give you an idea of the facilities on each floor. There are quite a few café bars dotted around the house. Food was really nice as usual. Each day was a good chance to try new foods. You can help yourself or get the waiting staff to bring the food to your table. Usually get allocated an area for you to sit throughout your stay. Meals usually consisted of 3 courses. Starters had quite a few choices. Mains had lots of choices. Dessert was very nice. There is plenty of activities available on site. Ask at reception to find out what is available. The theatre was a nice size. There is a bar in there but not a full bar. But there is a bar which is not far from here that has a better selection of drinks available. The gym and swimming pool are available and are located outside of the main building. Ask at reception to find out what is available. Lots of activities are available around the hotel. Reception should be able to let you know what activities are available and when.

Where do I start, booked a deluxe room as it is a new hotel and wanted to treat ourselves, when we pulled back the nets we were staring at a yellow brick wall with blue tarpaulin over the top, it took 40 minutes to speak to a manager, who moved our room to a standard, better view but it was freezing, when we told the reception they said they couldn't Do anything about it. The tap in the bathroom basin couldn’t be lifted all the way up as they had put in a shelf that stopped it so you only got a little stream of water that took ages even to fill the kettle!! I had booked online for our meal times only to be informed that we had not booked. One night we waited 50 minutes for our starter of two bowls of soup!! The swimming pool, Spa and one restaurant was not finished which was a disappointment. The Manor House is beautiful and the surrounding areas are great if you can walk. My husband played golf and I joined him in the buggy, he said the course needed a bit of improvements especially the sign posting as sometimes we didn’t know which way to go. If you are thinking of going, I would give it 6 months to sort out all the teething troubles. We would go back just to see how if it improves. We both said that they opened too early just to make some money on their big investment.

Heythrop is a beautiful place. The cleanliness and rooms were excellent. The entertainment was very good. The staff worked very hard and were extremely helpful and pleasant. However, they seemed to be under extreme pressure, shortage of staff and technology not working properly. We will book again because the good parts of the holiday outweighed the discrepancies.

It’s a beautiful place, spotless, food and restaurants excellent.Loved the entertainment. Only criticism is should have two key cards,as I went to spa and needed my card but I would have left my husband in the dark. Also we booked theatre for 9.30 to see talon and there were no seats as the 8.30 booking had stayed there as no one checks you in!! Apart from that a beautiful place and staff very helpful

Beautiful accommodation, both our rooms and public rooms. Loved looking out at deer and hare and birds of prey. The staff were excellent and friendly even when short staffed.

The food was good but we did try to change venues to eat on a few occasions from the Market Kitchen to the Brasserie but to no avail! When we arrived in the room the stool had a broken leg, I reported it to reception who said it would be replaced but that never happened. Also the room was very hot and we found sleeping a trial! Plus the extractor fan in the shower didn't work so the bathroom was very steamy when you used the shower . Apart from that not to bad. The restaurant staff were very friendly 😁

Beautiful location and hotel. Good friendly service in the restaurants, a bit slower in the bar areas. The standard of food was very good. We enjoyed the spa facilities and entertainment (sometimes a bit too loud) and walking around the area. The evening Christmas lantern walk finished with carols hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows A lovely stay.

We booked this up last November to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary 9th June, having had experience of a Warner Leisure break June 2022 in Studley Castle Hotel where we had a fabulous time. We really enjoyed our three-day break here at Heythrop and apart from a few minor hiccups in the Market Garden Restaurant and seemingly Head Office and local IT systems not always talking to each other, the whole experience was really wonderful and we enjoyed it very much. There are two main entertainment venues, the Theatre and the Late-Night Show and the mix of main entertainment and supporting bands and singers was excellent. We saw Andrew Bourn in the Late Show who was fantastic and, in the Theatre, everyone was blown away by the Illegal Eagles, amazing tribute band. The food was very good with a nice choice of menus. We chilled out and were thoroughly spoilt throughout our stay. The staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay. Our second Warner Leisure break and we will soon be looking at the options for our third!! There was a consensus of opinion amongst many people that the booking of entertainment venues and restaurants could have been clearer…

First time Warners holiday makers. Always thought these were for old people, but they are definitely not. Enjoyed trying all the activities archery rifle shooting, laser clay pigeon shooting, bowls, croquet etc etc Amazing 20m pool and spa area, food 10 * shows and staff all amazing and friendly. Beautiful well kept grounds. Fantastic golf course, but did not try that, maybe next time. Well done Warners will definitely be recommending you to all my friends and family. 5***

Group of 6 and none of us were disappointed! It was for a 50th Birthday celebration. We will definitely be returning... Quick shout out to some of the lovely staff that I can remember their names... Nora and Nathan in Brasserie 32, Steve and Jordan in The Travelling Duke

The staff make this place! Harry at Market Kitchen was the best server any of our group of 6 had ever encountered. He was so fun and entertaining, but also efficient and helpful. The food is good and there are plenty of options. Matthew so kindly added an extra laser pistol shooting session just because our group were disappointed to miss out. The session ended up being full, and Matthew told us he’d come in on his day off just for us as he’d forgotten he wasn’t in when he added the extra session. He made the shooting so fun and accomodating for everyone, and we all enjoyed it so much. It was the best activity we did whilst staying, and Matthew really made it worth every minute. The grounds and hotel itself are lovely, but it’s the staff that really made our stay worth it.

This new hotel is fabulous! Staff still being trained up so some patience is needed but everyone is really friendly. The outside walk to the spa is a bit of a pain but it’s worth it when you get there - wear walking boots not flip flops! Excellent quality food and good range of menu choices.

Really enjoyed our break. The pool is a little shallow but still managed to swim a few lengths. Walking the paths to the private zoo - great countryside. Food was nice yesterday not so great the day before and went to same restaurant - brasserie 32. Service good. Room small but comfy bed - which is all you need. Entertainment on Tuesday night was a brilliant singer. Really enjoyed Ami. Team are very nice. Will be back!

A very nice hotel. Food was good. Rooms were good. A very stretched out hotel, so for those whom don't walk very well I think they would struggle. Especially as there are also a lot of doors to negotiate. Swimming pool a long way from the south wing.

Fabulous grounds and hotel Very long drive and long walk from south to north. Given high price the room was compact. The food was great, but service poor, no food served to me on first night despite chasing up 3 times. Wine took 45 minutes to come to table on 2nd night. The staff did their best Needs more staff and a manager managing. Lots of disgruntled guests and queues to get in for dinner every night. On first night chef got stuck in the lift. It's a shame. We are platinum members and been to many hotels in the group for last 20 years or so. Worst dinner service ever. Hope it improves.

A great 3 night stay in early December. An excellent experience! While we are too old to stay up for the entertainment we appreciated top quality service, wonderful main rooms with a range of seating. Too cold to see the estate but looks good. The only criticism would be the current mania for cushions everywhere Overkill! PS VG broadband.

An excellent short break at the hotel. The entertainment was first class, and the staff, who were attentive and pleasant, added to the visit. There are some nice touches added which make for an enjoyable experience. Certainly not moaning as our stay was simply excellent, but the website does not match exactly what is on offer. For example, the bikes that you can hire are locked away for the season and the Segways are not available until 2024. The website could have made this clear so as not to raise expectations. That said, it did not detract from our stay, but if these things are important to you, check before you stay.

This is truly a beautiful place. Once you have checked in, please take a really good walk around the manor house. Considering that this is a hotel, they have left so much of the beautiful within this building. I have attached some images to give you a sneaky peak. Take a stroll around the grounds, and if you're lucky, you may get up close to the free roaming deer. They are small but very cute. We opted for a standard room and found that it was warm, very clean, and very smart. We also had a garden door leading out to a small patio area with a table and chairs. Despite the issues with the hotel messing up 2 evening restaurant bookings, they did resolve them fairly well. When you are ready for your evening meal, you will be delighted with the high quality and superb taste. Everything we had over this weekend was cooked to perfection. I loved the restaurant decor, location, and atmosphere. The interior designer is very inspirational. The evening entertainment was just incredible. Each and every act was 1st class. We tried the silent disco one evening. I can't remember the last time I had so much fun dancing. It was hilarious. Take off your headphones and listen to the terrible singing of the crowd, not realising how bad they sound. I was such a wonderful 3 night break, and we will be going back.

The house is a marvelous piece of architecture. Rooms are very nice Our air conditioning was noisy All the employees were extremely polite but some did lack the knowledge to do their jobs efficiently especially when it came to waiting half an hour for our booked breakfast. The fact that some of the bar staff didn't know how to make the cocktails doesn't make for a good one. You do have to expect a fair amount of walking at this complex as it is spread out over quite a large area . Food good but they had run out of some items on the evening menu on the Friday night . Best to book additional activities early as they all get booked up

The staff were so friendly and attentive. The only down side was that the toilet bowl was very stained under the water and the floor had not been swept behind the door, so clumps of hair. I did mention this to reception twice, but it was not done. A bit of bleach and scrubbed would have done the job, closing the door would have helped too.

Great stay, but they still have teething problems. Lack of staff in restaurants. Need to check your bill as we were charged £25 for something we didn't have. Which was correct straight away.

This review for Heythrop Warner hotel. This is a one star hotel. While I paid Poor cleanliness, room ate not cleaned daily. Bed is not made up but the duvet is merely thrown on the bed. No soap, shower cap or bathrobe Poor dinner menu, the buffet is exactly like Beefeater. Poor breakfast buffet with stale fried eggs already hours before, asking for toast arrives immediately, cold and when you ask for hot ones they come after 30 seconds hardly warm. Obviously they only warm up the already made ones. Coffee is poured in freezing cups. So you'll never have hot coffee. You have to walk outside in the cold weather for 4 minutes to reach the SPA and the Gym. No indoor access but they don't tell you that on their website. Also, they don't tell you that the deepest point of the swimming pool is 1.2 meter. They tell you they have a lake but literally it is a pond. The receptionist are poorly trained without courteous greeting and communication.

A stunning property. Large well equipped bedrooms. Variety of restaurant choices and bars plus ample quiet rooms and lounges. Staff friendly and helpful with any queries. Only negative comment is regarding the access to the Spa & Swimming pool - as all the signs indicate direction which we believed it to be inside the complex. But - at present - this entails walking outside and under cover, which on a cold day / evening we were not prepared for. Once in, the facilities were good, but the pool itself is quite shallow .

A good, adult only hotel in this historic house. The shows and tribute acts were excellent and well presented within the main theatre and late lounge facility. Food and service fine. The reason for only 4 stars is that the electric bicycle activity was not available out of season, and archery and shooting were fully booked quite rapidly. it would have been helpful if this was advised at time of booking. Also there is some work being done to provide a permanent covered walkway and additional rooms between the main buildings and the spa and pool facility.

Great location, impressive historic building that has undergone impressive restoration. You cannot ignore the grandeur of Heythrop from the moment you enter the drive that takes you upto the House. Unfortunately after those first positive impressions everthing else we experienced was negative. Poor cleaning standards, inadequate staffing levels, queuing for evening meals and drinks in entertainment areas, poorly regulated air-conditioning, limited menu selection in Wellington Pub for breakfast and dinner, insufficient parking places and poor mobility access. Lack of variety in the evening entertainment, 4 days of vocal entertainment became a bit repetitive. We have been to several Warner Hotels and enjoyed ourselves without exception, our experience at Heythrop was that we won't be back or recommend it as a must visit location.

I only played golf so will give my opinion on that, cost was £40 a round for our 4 ball and we played on a Saturday. The golf pro shop is fairly small with not alot in it, outside you will find a range ball machine for the range opposite, there are about 5 bays but you can play outside off the grass if you like. The course itself combones fairly straightforward holes with some really stunning and difficult ones, shot selection needs to be considered as you can easily run out of fairway or leave yourself with no shot to the green. The greens were in really good condition with hardly any divots etc. Some of the bunkers are deep and difficult. Overall an enjoyable round and well worth a visit if your in the area or staying at the hotel. After the round we set about searching for a bar, you will need to go into the main hotel entrance, turn right and keep walking a fair old way and you will find one past the bistro 32. 4 pints £ 23.50 so usual hotel prices. Decent selection.

Adult only venue. Great location, well signposted. Warm welcome. Deluxe room located in Manor House. Good size to accommodate twin beds. Large bathroom. Senspa toiletries, tea coffee hot chocolate & biscuits provided. Great entertainment and food. All staff friendly and accommodating. Spa facilities excellent. Negatives - room too hot, unable to turn off radiator. Too few staff, I understand they had sickness. Venue very spread out and different levels so doesn't suit some disabled guests.

  • 2/5 Pritesh P. 1 year ago on Google
Awesome looking venue. Pitty that was the only highlight. If your are going for golf and expecting to get a bite to eat before 1130 expect to be told that hotel guests take preference and then told there are no options apart from a £15 per head breakfast buffet. We did get food after our round, and this was extremely disappointing as they charge premium prices and provide budget portions and quality. Really disappointed as the course was decent. Just the overall package let it down.

Went to this hotel with friends, quick check in. It is a long walk from the car park to the hotel a plus is they have a couple of golf buggies to transport people to the main entrance. The rooms are very nice I had to go to reception 6 times to ask for a bathrobe then I got 2 after 3 days. Some people were complaining about the service in the restaurant but we had no problems and the food was ok too. The entertainment was good especially the illegal eagles tribute band. The quizzes were good especially the interactive one. I had to go to reception to get bath towels and they came within 10 minutes this was the day before we left. They only thing that got my back uk was we went to the late lounge for a drink and because there was a cocktail class on the bar said to go to the travelling duke bar but the barman said we need to sit down to get served so couldn’t wait at the bar but we weren’t drinking there so to cut a long story short he did serve us and said the other people outside would have to wait while he served us very unprofessional. Lots of cobwebs in the travelling duke pub and a lot of dust on the tops of the partition seating in the late lounge theatre.
