This is *the* place you have been searching for - especially if you have previously trained before and are seeking those intangibles. Finding a good place to train is hard, it's a moving target between scheduling, quality instruction and access to a wide gamut of training partners (skill/size). I trained for a few years down south and never found another gym that really felt like "home." After the first few classes at Inferno, it was clear it was the type of place that made me fall in love with BJJ/Muay Thai in the first place. You can't go wrong here regardless of where your fitness goals are where they evolve. If you want to get in shape, great... if you want to train towards having a first fight or grappling match, you'd be hard pressed to find a more conducive environment.

The Inferno jiu jitsu team has changed my life, and I am better for it… I had tried prior gyms but could not grasp the techniques or strategies. Now nearly 9 years at the Inferno and loving the process. The coaches are professional. The classes are detailed for beginner and still challenging at advanced levels. I did not expect to find friends, but now have enjoyed relationships that I cherish. Inferno TPC in Marlboro NJ is a great place to train BJJ.

I've had nothing but a pleasant experience training here as a beginner in Muay Thai (kickboxing). George was very welcoming and patient towards all my inquiries. All the trainers are very knowledgeable, courteous and genuinely care about helping everyone improve. The environment is very clean, friendly and great for all types of trainers from beginners to advanced. I've learned a lot here and as others have said, within a couple weeks I was the one giving pointers to newcomers. This is the perfect gym whether you're looking for perfecting form, technique, or simply an alternative fun cardio workout. Each workout changes things up and you learn something new, all while meeting like-minded individuals with diverse backgrounds.

It has been a year since I started going to Inferno. I'm very lucky to have found this amazing place. I'm very thankful to coach George for creating such a welcoming and positive atmosphere without toxic masculinity. I'm very thankful to coach Chrissy and coach Macho for the amount of energy and care they give to the students. You are incredible. I highly recommend this place to all.

I’ve trained at a ton of martial arts gyms all over the world the last 15yrs, none as good as Inferno. The instructors and facility are world class and everyone is treated like family.

I began training at Inferno a few years ago and can't say enough good things about the school. The facility is clean and well maintained. The school is a great place for students of all levels of BJJ & Muay Thai or no experience at all. There are classes every day including morning classes so, even with a busy schedule, you can always find a time to train. The instructors and students at Inferno are also some of the nicest folks you'll meet. If you're in Monmouth county, and are looking for a place to train, you have to come to Inferno and check it out.

Inferno isnt just a gym it is a Family. It is a very clean facility, great atmosphere, fantastic coaches and a wonderful place to be. It is not just a gym it is a home with loving caring teammates and coaches. As a female training jiu-jitsu I can say in the beginning I was nervous starting new things but after a few weeks of training i became more confident in myself and made the best decision of my life. almost 3 years at inferno and still one of the best decision I have ever made. I highly recommend Inferno to everyone friends and family too

6 Years ago, I walked in to The Inferno TPC. Living in the Marlboro area for about a year and not knowing many, Coach Steve welcomed me and made learning Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai fun and exciting. The rest of the team was, and still is, just as gracious as he. I not only got to know many people, but I formed great friendships with many and consider my teammates family. Everyone is supportive and will go out of their way to help each other. I joined The Inferno with a simple goal of losing weight and being a healthier person. But along the way, I have accomplished so much more than I ever thought I would when I first stepped foot on the mats. If you're looking to get in shape, learn martial arts, or just change up your workout, come to The Inferno TPC. You wont be disappointed!

I started training at Inferno 5 years ago. As someone that has been training in multiple disciplines for over 15 years, there is not a gym better for all of your needs. I have trained at several facilities in the past, and the instruction, cleanliness and professionalism of Inferno Training & Performance Center is unmatched. The instructors and students are all extremely friendly. By far the best place around for jiu jitsu, muay thai and/or wrestling instruction.

I started training at Inferno in 2016, from the first minute I walked into the gym every instructor was welcoming and caring.Even with zero Jujitsu and Muay Thai background the instructors and students made me feel comfortable. Everyone there is willing to teach and work with you. The gym is clean and well kept .

Steven Barnett, the owner has created a fantastic environment for all things fitness and mixed martial arts. I highly recommend visiting this gym and asking for Bobby Freda the manager of the gym. I also have been teaching here for many years. Stop by and train.

I have been training for 6 months and it is the best decision I could have made. Coach George and Coach Steve have created an extremely welcoming environment, and everyone I have met so far has been incredibly helpful and friendly. They really take the time and go out of their way to make sure you are learning and progressing. It took me a while to walk in the door while doing research on BJJ schools in the area, but my only regret is that I did not come in sooner. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. If you’re thinking about starting in BJJ, just come in and train with us. You will be amazed at the results.

If you are looking for a gym to begin your martial arts journey, look no further, this is the best place around ! Excellent coaching staff who have created an extremely welcoming environment for all skill levels. Inferno’s gift of martial arts has changed my life and I could not imagine training anywhere else.

Over the course of our first year as we trained, Inferno had become a second home for my family and I. From day one, we trained with incredible and welcoming people in a judgement-free environment. A year in, we have grown as people and athletes, made friends and have LOTS more to look forward to. George and Steve, thank you for creating and maintaining truly a one of a kind place. Friends and allies for life.

I’ve been training at Inferno for a little over a year now and I can confidently say it is truly a great place. Everyone there is extremely welcoming and friendly. The staff is very accommodating and I have zero bad things to say. I have been treated with the upmost respect from the start and the gym leaves me nothing to desire. I have met countless great people here and have learned a ton in the process. By far one of the best experiences I’ve had and probably the best decision I’ve made in my life is to start my jiu jitsu journey at Inferno.

Inferno is a great gym with great coaches, great people and tons of classes! Regardless if you are new ( like me) or have been training for a while, the coaches will spend time with you during class to properly instruct you on what you should be working on. This has helped me learn without hurting myself, like I have done at previous kickboxing classes in the past. I highly recommend checking Inferno out.

I have been training at Inferno for over 3 years and I could not imagine being any where else. The level of instruction and training partners are second to none. If you are looking to get into the best shape of your life, increase self defense, or compete in martial arts you can do it all here. I highly recommend anyone stopping in and seeing what this place is about.

I started BJJ elsewhere and was really fearful when I decided to find a new academy a bit closer to home. I ended up going to a Friday open mat with a buddy of mine who trains here and had an amazing experience. Instructors are super friendly and the environment is extremely clean and laid back while still preserving the tough workouts needed for this to be a competitive academy.

My husband and my two sons 5 and 10 train here. Everybody loves the facility and the coaches! Even as a mom on the bench, they make you feel like family. I highly recommend this gym if you are looking for great training and great friends!

Love this place, staff treats you like family. If you’re trying to get that old school gym feel with modern and clean amenities this is the place for you. Unlike many “martial art gyms” this one actually does more than just make you break a sweat, you truly will learn the art you’re purseuing; Bobby the gym owner cares about every single member and you’ll feel that from day 1. Only thing I can ask is for more weekend classes, hopefully that comes in time as the gym grows

Inferno is a truly great environment. The facility is nice but the people really make it. Everyone is always eager to learn and eager to teach. You can tell there's a true love for the sport.

The owner, George, is absolutely amazing. He encourages people to start their journey within the sport. The gym is absolutely beautiful and the classes are run amazingly. They have great merchandise to buy with the gyms logo on it. They aren’t money hungry but rather passionate about changing someone’s life through this sport. This gym is extremely affordable and you most definitely get the bang for your buck. Would highly recommend this gym to anyone, Inferno is worth it.

Hands down the best gym out there. I joined many years ago, took a couple years off and when I came back and it's like I never left! I'm always welcomed with open arms. This group is seriously like my second family. We hang out together, attend each others weddings... I can't imagine going anywhere else. The people are amazing, the coaches are incredible at what they do and this place is SPOTLESS! Seriously the cleanest most spacious place to come to. I highly recommend this to men, women and children of all ages. It's so much more than a gym. THIS PLACE CHANGED MY LIFE & I AM FOREVER THANKFUL <3

I walked into Inferno 6 years ago and was welcomed with open arms. Training there became a routine and quickly became a home. This gym is more than a gym, it’s a place where everyone truly cares about helping each other and seeing each other succeed. This gym is a family who celebrates weddings, birthdays, and achievements together. I will forever be a member at Inferno and know that no other gym could compare.

Like many Americans, I have struggled with weight issues my entire life. As we all know, sometimes there are underlying issues that contribute to obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle that need to be addressed. As part of my journey in the path towards wellness, I decided to research some gyms in my local area. After my research, I decided to contact Inferno in Marlboro. I spoke to a gentlemen named George Tampa. From my very first conversation with George, I felt very comfortable and at ease. I knew this was the place for me! I started taking classes a few weeks ago, and let me tell you: my inner voice was correct. George and Steve have been very welcoming and run great classes. They, like the rest of the students I've trained with, have been very kind and patient with someone like me, someone who can be a slow learner at times, but nonetheless determined to learn. I've grappled with students at many levels in a non- aggressive, supportive environment, and in my estimation, I've gotten better within the first few weeks. I've also taken one Muay Thai class that was amazing as well. In just a short time period, Inferno has helped me improve my self confidence, discipline, and mindset. It has helped me overcome obstacles and is an integral part of my self development. I promise anyone, if you take the initiative , it will do the same for you.

I dropped into this gym all week while visiting family in the area. All three instructors went out of their way to make me feel welcome. They also lent me a gi everyday since I didn’t bring mine with me. Glad I found somewhere to train every time I’m in NJ!

  • 5/5 Matthew C. 4 years ago on Google
Training here was probably one of the best decisions of my life! Been coming here for almost 2 years and I am very glad I found this place. The coaches are friendly and amazing teachers and the team members all help each other out to become better at the sport like one big family. I always leave this place feeling better about myself because of the environment created by everyone here. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to learn some martial arts.

Inferno, the place which I have been blessed to be able to call home for the past 3 years. A place which has contributed greatly to my development as a person, and a place which has given me greater purpose as a human being. Coaches Steven Barnett, George Tampa, Andrew Vuocolo and UFC Veteran Kurt Pellegrino work together to create an environment which not only acts as a family where we care for one another on an off the mat, but a unit where each and every student is attended to, ensuring constant progress and growth not only in Jiu jitsu but off the mats as well. The group here is tightly knit with its arms very open and warm to anyone with the common goal of improving as a martial artist. We are all one here, constant aspirations to compete and improve, not to mention Professor Steven Barnett, who is always training, leading by example and with his goal to make inferno the best school possible and have as many training partners as possible, opening an academy available to us students in Puerto Rico and a Partnership with schools in Belmar and a few more schools across NJ, complacency is not a thing here. With an array of training partners of all genders, races, sizes, skills, however you want to break it down, I’m glad to be a part of it and can guarantee you will be amazed at the energy that each class brings and what it can do for you.

As an outsider who has been in a different atmosphere his entire life, watching and listening to how Steve, Andrew, George and Macho work and the culture they have developed is truly inspiring. Definitely worth signing up and seeing for yourself.

I walked in that place about almost 2 years ago, it was my first time on a mat and I barely spoke English at that time, coach Steve was very patient explaining me basic Muay Thai stuff and I had no doubt about signing up. Felt a good energy since day one. After that I jumped into classes and all of my teammates were always helpful and friendly. I’m grateful to be a part of this team! 💪🏼

I’ve been here for 3 years and I have never felt more comfortable with the atmosphere I’m surrounded by and how the people make you feel like you have a new family

There is a reason why I am there 3-4 times a week since spring 2016. Excellent place to learn and practice BJJ and Muay Thai. Coaches are dedicated and folks are second family. Place is well maintained and clean. Every week there are plenty of classes covering both gi and no gi, from basics to advanced techniques.

I started with Inferno about 2 years ago, and I can honestly say that the experience has absolutely changed my life. From the very first day I started I was welcomed to the team, and have formed some of the most amazing friendships. If you are looking to change your life, add to it, or pursue something fun and exciting this is where you need to train. I have the privilege to train all over the country, and no other academy comes close to what Inferno has and offers.
