Muy épico el arriamento de la Mega Bandera
We came here during the 2024 Navidad / año nuevo. Really incredible history, sights, people, and activities in this area that would be hard to miss if visiting CDMX. All of the great views are capped off by the anthropology and geology of the area - the whole plaza was built on top of Aztec ruins and is slowly sinking at a whopping rate of 20 inches per year.
Public square where many events take place. On this day, a free concert was taking place. There were lots of police in the area, so I felt safe. The crowds were well behave. I didn't see any drunken people. The plaza is constantly being clean!! Awesome place to visit and a must do when in mexico
Nice crowded place 😜 You hardly get a chance to see much as you don’t want to be pick pocketed 😉 and the traffic jams 🙈 As this is a huge tourist place, I wonder why Mexican government don’t ban cars/buses in the area. Lovely Christmas decor.
This is a massive plaza. I would’ve liked to come when they have massive events here like I know they do. When we came, however it was a very large open space with small exhibitors and streetside performers. Be ready to steer clear of the tourist poaching rooftop bar staff. They will try and call you into everything.
The scenery is very pretty. Heavy foot traffic. Mainly, though, I get it. The grind is real. You have a job to do. However, you will not be left alone here. People will constantly be offering you deals, trips, food. Beggars here are everywhere. Also the workers from la terrace or whatever are relentless. They will crowd you and say the same. Damn. Thing. Over and over even if they just saw you 1min ago..
I’ve been to El Zócalo a few times, and each time it’s incredibly crowded. On my last visit, I didn’t feel entirely safe. There seemed to be a lot of people watching, which made it hard to relax and fully take in the experience. I’d recommend being cautious—avoid wearing too much jewelry, as the atmosphere can feel a bit heavy. While the square itself is impressive, it’s difficult to appreciate its beauty when you’re constantly aware of your surroundings. It’s still a must-see for its historical significance, but keep your guard up to truly enjoy the visit.
So massively impressive. No pictures or videos can do it justice. It is one of those, you must experience it for yourself type places. Especially since we were there during a protest over the discovery of a mass grave by the cartels. We did not know it at the time. We simply saw over a hundred thousand people camped out in tents. It was physically and emotionally staggering, both positively and negatively. In summary an experience you do not easily forget.
Worth the visit at least once to the historic zocalo. It's a massive plaza with a giant Mexican flag. Many events and gatherings are held here, although there were none when I was there. Viva México!
Hermosa imagen ante tus ojos
I’m very surprised that looks very spacious and more peaceful because there is not more chaos with the cars going around. I enjoyed walking there and there is lots of security( police ) it is. Must visit

This place is worth visiting for its architecture, it houses the oldest church of Mexico City and has a double organ. It depicts the life of Jesus since birth. It has the most unique tub of ‘Holy Waters’ for baptism.
No visit to Mexico City is complete without spending time in the Zócalo. It’s the beating heart of the city — always lively, always full of history and culture. From here, you can easily explore the Metropolitan Cathedral, the Templo Mayor ruins, and the National Palace. Street performers, cultural events, and political demonstrations often happen here, giving you a real feel for Mexican life. Pro tip: Climb up to a rooftop café (like Café de la Gran Ciudad) to enjoy an amazing aerial view of the plaza. Day or night, this place is mesmerizing.
Such a great place to visit during the holidays as they always decorate it. Everyday at sunset they lower the flag and it’s such an amazing sight. Def recommend visiting and the subway is right underneath!
Muy bonito tienen que ir
For sure a very interesting place to be , where the Aztec civilization began and the symbolic buildings of the Colonialism (Spain). It’s a blend of feelings and emotions. The cathedral, the museums and specially the people makes the main square of Mexico City a unique place to visit.
Siempre será un placer visitar el zócalo capitalino. Es impresionante ver sus edificios su gente, caminar por sus calles y disfrutar de todos los museos que hay por la zona, que regularmente ofrecen accesos sin costo.
