If my experience was based on food and atmosphere alone it would be scored a 5. The food was delicious flavorful and I enjoyed every bite. I have to be fair and write about the unpleasant experience with the doorman. We entered the restaurant and waited about 4 minutes to be helped. It was a couple in front of us waiting to be seated too. The doorman approaches us and asked if we were there for dine in or take out? I said dine in. He immediately asked for us to put masks on. Now I mention this because the couple before us who dined in wasn’t asked to put a mask on. Then moments later the doorman is seen walking around with no mask on.

DJ Khalad's restaurant: Parking is avaliable on the street, but you will have to drive around to look for a spot. I was suprised at the amount of seating inside. I thought it was smaller. It was a hip hop, casual type of vibe with the decor. Some food items are available depending on the location. Keep in mind, they have more than one. The staff is friendly, but the service is kinda slow. I finally received my drink have way through my meal. If you eat Conch, I recommend it as a good choice for appetizer. The Shrimp Croissant was very good as well. Never had something like that before. All the food was seasoned well, and tasted amazing. I would recommend this spot especially for anyone visiting the area.

The food was OK. The atmosphere is everything!! Just don’t expect to be wowed by the food. The presentation was nice but taste is mediocre. My server was great!! Always attentive . The restaurant is very busy so you have a bit of a wait for food. But that’s okay because the customer service is good. It definitely gives you a Miami party vibe. They have great music, tvs everywhere and there’s a club in the back. Restaurant is full of hip hop culture and is for EVERYONE. A beautifully mixed crowd of customers.

Went twice for takeout…snapper dinner was amazing! DO YOU HEAR ME! Shrimp and grits not so much, it was bland. Tried to go a third time on a Sunday about an hour before closing, wait time was super long and they had run out of everything by the time I got close to the counter.

😍🔥 the food and service was superb. Not only was out waiter nice and patient with out many questions about the food but the waiter from their next door bar was great. He came over and informed us about their happy hour specials and we literally had only two minutes left but he still took our drink orders and then delivered the drink to our table. THE FOOD THOUGH…OMG. The food was fantastic. I ordered the chicken and red velvet waffles. Y’all I have never had a red velvet cake or cupcake that tasted as good as those waffles. They were soft, fluffy, moist, and I didn’t even need syrup on them. I find myself on the flight home wishing I had gotten an order to fly back with 😂. They were just that good. My sister ordered the chicken meal and she chose baked Mac & Cheese and collard greens with it. The collard greens will definitely send an intentional moan escaping from your mouth. Whoever the cook was that day may have went to culinary arts school but they fried that chicken and cooked that food like they spent their entire life in the kitchen with their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother watching and learning from them all. That was my first and only experience at The Licking. I found out that they have restaurants located in other major cities including mines. My BFF said the ones in my city can’t compare to the one in South Beach Miami. So if you’re ever there please, please, please check them out if you want to give your taste buds a wonderful experience.

Firstly I would say the vibe of the restaurant was definitely the current hip hop atmosphere, nicely done. Our waitress Was horrible, I won’t mention her name but she was one of those that gave the very minimum when it comes to service because she knows she will receive at least a 18% gratuity that’s automatically charged to your bill. She did not check on us at all, as a matter of fact I had to ask the security guard to let her know we needed to order more food. The extra food we ordered took forever due to her taking so long to place the order. She finally became friendly or realized she was a “waitress” when it came time to pay the bill. I am an advocate for tipping well when good service is provided and I would have gave more than the 18%. Everyone else was nice and helpful, not waitress “J”

MY GO TO SPOT IN SOUTH BEACH EVERYTIME. IF YOU LOVE RAP MUSIC & SOUL FOOD THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. I ADVISE YOU TO GO MID DAY BECAUSE DURING THE NIGHT THEY RUN OUT OF SIDES. I WAS UNABLE TO GET GREENS AND YAMS BECAUSE THEY WERE SOLD OUT BEFORE CLOSING TIME. HOWEVER THE WAITERS WERE GREAT AND FOOD WAS DELICIOUS.

You can't go to MIA w/o pulling up to The Licking. Perfect mix of soul & seafood. Good, flavorful food like the family made it; and that's how it feels when I'm in there. *Lobster Bites- mix the two sauces they have & enjoy*

I ordered the Fried turkey wings with Mac and cheese, and candied yams. I've been here before the pandemic and I must say, the food was good then but now it's even better. Maybe they switched out the cooks and the recipes. Whatever the case is, keep up the good work.

Where do I start our server Roberto was absolutely amazing attentive, Accommodating friendly and did a wonderful job filling our request. if you come to south beach make sure you stop here ask for him. he will make sure your experience is pleasant. We enjoyed everything the food is the boom . You can’t go wrong . Just be prepared to spend. 10/10 for the food 10/10 for the server. They passed the vibe check !

Food was good but EXTRA EXTRA Salty. I ate here in Orlando and it wasn’t salty so I was so excited to introduce it to my mom and sis while we was visiting Miami going on a cruise. It has SO Much potential to taste amazing if they cut back on the salt. My mom and sis couldn’t finish their greens and Mac and cheese because of the salt. The food definitely looks pretty minus all the salt. Here was our plates

I ordered the steak and was not told that they only cook it well well done which was served very dry. I returned it for the Alfredo which came as we were leaving. The fries my fiancé had were 8/10 steak 3/10 the fried turkey leg he had was over cooked and over seasoned 3/10. The Mac and cheese was an easy 5/10 and needed more cheese. The seafood rice was hard and had no flavor 4/10. The snapper was 8/10 but we weren’t told it’s 8$ extra til we got our bill. The server was great and the music was awesome, the bartender was great as well and our mystery drinks were tasty.

I had the fried conch with green beans and collard greens. Best part is food was seasoned well. The collard greens were tough and need a little more cooking. Another person in my party had Mac n cheese and it looked really dry and the only cheese I saw was on top.

The food was delicious! Very fresh and cooked perfectly. I got the fried red snapper with red beans and greens. My cousin got the shrimp Alfredo. We both loved every bit of our meals. The only criticism was that the server forgot a couple of things we ordered, so we just had her take it off the bill. She was nice about it, though. This will make me sound like a fuddy duddy, but the music was just a smidgen loud. I did enjoy it, though, and the vibe. Prices are great for the quality and portion size!! If you like seafood and southern food, definitely check it out.

It took forever for us to get our food when we finally got it it was just okay the only thing I enjoy the most was the string green beans order them you won't be disappointed! I ordered the strawberry salmon I feel like the Salmon was dry and they could have held the strawberry sauce.

Man the food was amazing. Wings were tender as hell, greens were seasoned to perfection, Mac N Cheese was a little different but not too bad. Blueberry Lemonade was off the chain. I had some Chicken Rolls as well! They were bomb too! They have someone that goes around and takes your picture and sells you 2 for $20 with a quality frame! Recommend any day!✊🏾

Tasty seafood soul food. It’s vibe and good music. They bar to the side with some strong drinks. Definitely late good eats!

The customer service was awesome! Richie our waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the food dish combinations (what's tasty with what), & also the current (M.P.) rate for seafood. The Shift Mgr was also accommodating based on Richie's input. The Licking off 7th & Washington Ave is a 'must'!!

Really disappointing as I always try to give black owned establishments a chance when I'm traveling. I put in an online order with a delayed pick up time that's well over an hour from when I placed the order. It's memorial day weekend on SoBe so I'm aware everywhere will be busy so I check to make sure they update the status to pick up which they do. I arrive, head to the counter and asked for my order (my ticks is right on the counter) and they tell me "it's not out yet" gave me absolutely no idea of when it would be ready either. I end up waiting with two other orders that apparently got put on hold because they held up the entire kitchen try to do a huge catering order (that person didn't even seem like he got his order right either because he got money back) I should have demander a refund as it took another thirty minutes of waiting around for us to finally get our food. The attitudes in that place were horrible and you felt like you were bothering them just asking for an update. Simple communication and customer service could have made the process so much better. The icing on the cake is that I didn't even get the slice of cake I ordered. I put in for a refund and haven't been contacted yet. The food itself was just average at best and not worth the hassle it took to get it. Made us late for a concert and missed an opening act I really wanted to see waiting on these folks. Never again will I deal with this establishment. Avoid like the plague.

Nice atmosphere.. they play good music 🎶. Chef Ben came out and greeted me. As he should. He made great baked chicken I also had yams n Mac n cheese delicious 😋. Melina great bartender.

Great experience. I came twice in the same week. The service was good and prompt. Brittany was our server and did an amazing job with answering questions, tending to our table, and overall friendly. Also shout out to Chef Ron who checked on us and asked how the food tasted. Of course it was good. He went above and beyond by even recooking a new steak to perfection for my buddy. 5 Stars

This was a pretty good place, we got there when it first open, so that why you don't 😉 see alot of people. They didn't have my lobster Mac and cheese. But overall the food was good and the atmosphere was nice.

The food was really good, I have to say the best on South Beach if you're looking for a southern style home cook meal. Four stars because the service wasn't good from my experience. Room for improvement in that area but definitely give this place a try.

We were seated quickly.My waitress Tabi was amazing. But, however we really enjoy the food. The lemonade is very good and sweet how I like it. The fried broccoli and steak Alfredo was different but it was delicious anyway
