My family and I had a wonderful experience kayaking for the first time! The best part, they are pet friendly and allowed our fur baby to kayak with us. He had an amazing time. Staff was super helpful, and the park was very clean and huge! We enjoyed 2 hours kayaking, which wasn’t enough time to explore the entire beach. We will definitely be returning and suggesting this place to our friends and family!

When entering Miami Beach you can't help but smile when you spot this cheerful mural. This is the largest mural ever approved by the city of Miami Beach and is 50 feet high and 120 feet long. Completed in October of 2016, the Welcome to Miami mural was painted by David "Lebo" Le Batard. Lebo was born to Cuban immigrants and was raised in South Florida. Inspired by American cartooning, fine art, indigenous art and Egyptian hieroglyphic, his art work includes murals, paintings, and sculptures. He is a pioneer of Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism, an art form that uses cartoon imagery, rich color, and unique lines to create layers of meaning. Lebo has a showroom in Wynwood and a studio in Miami Beach. His art can be found all over the world and his has done corporate partnerships with Norwegian Cruise Lines, Lulu Lemon, Harley Davidson, Audi, Google, Microsoft, Redbull, Ketel One, Bacardi, and Ferrari. American. Murals are on display at the Airlines Arena in Miami, Calle Ocho, Hart Plaza in Detroit and Hotel de Artes in San Francisco. About his art Lebo has said "'My aim in creating is to explore the purest, most spiritual elements of the arts and sciences (from astronomy to history, from music to physics) and to interpret them through the language of cartoons, giving them a unique and vibrant voice. After all, cartoons are a primordial form of expression that have always combined images in order to tell stories. We have only to think of rock paintings, hieroglyphics or religious iconography for our proof. In reality, even when we look at Picasso's work after 1905, it all becomes very hard-edged yet organic. The very essence of cartooning. The Welcome to Miami mural is on the side of the historic Roosevelt Theatre along the Biscayne Channel. The left side of the mural features a monk parakeet. Native to Argentina, Uruguay and other South American countries, they were introduced to South Florida in 1969 through the pet trade. On the right side of the mural is a native Florida flower, the night blooming jasmine. Lebo said that "A big reason I chose to highlight the Monk Parakeet for this project is its unique nature as a tropical species. Not only can their interesting squawking be heard throughout the area, but you can also see their family nests located in palm trees all around Miami Beach. Below the parakeet and night jasmine blossom is a stylized wave pattern inspired by the Art Deco movement, another trademark of Miami Beach. The lifeguard stand also captures another Miami Beach highlight with its delightful one of a kind feel, as it stands dotting the Atlantic". I really like the pop art feel of the mural which gives vintage postcard vibes. Since its creation the Welcome to Miami Mural has been a landmark for visitors to Miami Beach. Take your picture in front of it and let everyone know you are in Miami.

Visitors to Miami Beach will receive a warm and bright welcome thanks to a new mural by David “Lebo” Le Batard. The “Welcome to Miami Beach” mural was completed in early October 2016, the result of months of hard work and planning. “I had to go before City Council and present my design to them, and it was a nice, democratic process,” Lebo says. The brightly-colored mural depicts one of Miami Beach’s iconic Art Deco lifeguard towers, a monk parakeet and a jasmine flower. Of course, the scene wouldn’t be complete without a bright sun and a beach serving as the background. The mural may not resemble the typical style seen in Lebo’s Postmodern Cartoon Expressionism art, but he says he purposefully designed the mural with a pop art feel. He did so to accomplish his goal of creating a “modern-day postcard” people could share. Lebo’s mural is the largest approved for the Miami Beach district, measuring in at 50 feet high and 120 feet long. The artwork takes up the wall of the abandoned Roosevelt Theater, which sits on the Biscayne Channel. “It’s over water, so there were a lot of logistical and physical challenges,” he says. “You had to climb down a sea wall, get on a paddle board, paddle to the wall, put on your safety gear and connect to the building.” By welcoming visitors, locals, art lovers and others from around the world to Miami Beach, Lebo hopes the mural can serve as a landmark for the area 🙏🏻Please like 👍🏻this description below⤵️

This is a Florida State park, and it is awesome! Nestled in the midst of high-rise buildings, concrete parking lots and shopping malls is this little gem. It is awesome to start your day kayaking, cycling, or just have a picnic. Well worth the price of admission. The park staff is great and makes your visit even better.

Fun tourist stop! What you see is it - just the mural. Parking is best at bank on the corner so you can shoot across the water.

Very nice park. Kayaking was fun. Only complaint is not enough signage or directions. If you don't ask, you won't know. For example, one sign read "use lots 5 and 6 for parking," yet lots aren't numbered, you have to count them.

There are not enough words to describe the beauty of this incredible oasis in the middle of the chaotic city of Miami. Florida state parks our big on nature, you’re not going to find rides in amusements you will find Florida. The Oleta River State Park is everyone’s pathway to the famous Haulover Inlet by 🛶. The park is also an excellent example of where city meets unspoiled Environment... The park is constantly dealing with the changes of the urban landscape and the treatment of the park by it's users.

I took my six-year-old grandson on his first kayaking experience. He loved it. Oleta provided the perfect setting. It was quiet, uncrowded, feels secluded and adventurous.

Fun quick picture spot. It's more enjoyable if you take it slow and enjoy the water view and take some pics, even with traffic staring haha.

The peer was closed and I came here to fish. It wasn't announced in the front entrance that it was closed and it would have been nice if they at least did that.

Beautiful Oleta River park near Sunny Isles Beach is one of the largest urban parks in the Miami area. It’s amazing to have such a big natural area surrounded by busy metropolitan cities. This is a nice place to take a break from the hussle & bussle. There's a lot you can do here. I always had fun swimming at their beach, bicycling on the bike paths, & hiking through the woods. Truly a wonderful place for anyone! Also if you like cocoplums there are many heavy bearing bushes near the front entrance by the ranger check in station – yum! ❤🌳🏖🏊‍♂️ Thanks to all the friendly park staff :)

This was a unplanned activity and it was great. The employee's were very nice and they answered all of our questions. Equipment was clean, they sold everything we might need. At the end we even picked up some souvenirs and they were not over priced. Loved it will visit again.

Secret Gem in North Miami. I feel bless to live 10 minutes away from this place. You can canoe, kayak, swim in the beach, picnic, walk trails or have a family barbecue. There are plenty of trees for shade by the beach and the water is really low. You pay about $6 to park. Amazing peaceful place!!! Just go see it.

Loved this hidden gem in Miami! Hit the mountain bike trails- glad to see a variety of levels- from Novice to black diamond advance! Afterwards enjoyed a nice picnic at the sandy beach area by the small pier. The water was shallow for quite a ways to sit and enjoy with a really nice sandy bottom. Great day in the park- looking forward to return visits!

Always lovely to be out in nature :) Boat ramp available for personal boats, kayaks, inflatable tunes, etc.- go to lot 5! You can also rent a kayak at the park, if you don't have your own. We loved the beach area, and the fact that you can access it by boat/kayak. Gorgeous views and sounds, great experience for the whole family. We strongly recommend spending the day at Oleta River State Park! We recommend taking water shoes, as there are lots of rocks at the beach area, which hurt our feet, this was specially hard for the little ones so they wore their crocs in the water for comfort. Pet owners: dogs are not allowed at the beach area, but we saw a few and it didn't seem to be too much of an issue. We also saw dogs on the kayaks, so it seemed like an overall pet friendly park. We might bring our furry companions next time, to enjoy the day at the park.
