I visited my uncle at this facility this past weekend. The stench was so horrible that I could not stay long. It smelled like a sewer. My uncle was supposed to receive his nutrition at 2pm and it was not given to him until at least an hour later. Instead, they had given him medication that knocked him out. I could not stay awake during my visit. I do not recommend the facility and we are looking to move him elsewhere. UPDATE: My uncle was not cared for adequately at The Sands of South Beach. He had a bed sore and would complain of the pain regularly. He got Covid while at The Sands. He passed away in September of respiratory failure.

That place is horrible, from the moment you enter the smell of urine is terrible, I had a relative there and we had to get him out, in the notes they had said until they peeled and shaved him (which never happened). My opinion about that place is that it is a concentration camp

It's never an easy choice to have to put a family member in hands of a care facility; however, I would highly recommend this place. They have constant care for the elderly in addition to many activities that entices their interest and makes their day go by faster easily. My uncle is very happy at this place and Praises all of his nurses and assistants. Every time I have gone, they're very familiar with him where he's at and what he's up to, which gives me great peace of mind. If faced with another choice in the future, I would definitely go back to this place.

I have been volunteering thru Calvary Chapel Church at The Sands facility since 2006 . I have nothing but good comments for the loving and caring staff that I’ve meet thru the years . We have made long lasting relationship with many residents. In our weekly Bible study, we invite them to become part of a family of faith, we offer them love,community and fellowship , as they learn about their identity in Christ , they find true peace , joy , purpose and meaning 🙏

there is someone being abused and screaming for 2 weeks in the terrace, I called police. I called the management of the center several times about this matter, one time they simply hung up on me.

I recently went to the Sands of South Beach to visit my uncle since I live out of state. I haven’t seen him since July 2018 because I am a military wife. I must say since the last time I visited in the facility I almost wanted to remove my uncle. It’s one thing to need remodeling of the building but remodeling of the staff. (That was the past)!!!! I see different faces now with the head people and I must say a major haul over for the better. First person I always take time out to see is the admissions lady if it wasn’t for her I don’t know if my uncle would last long, The nurse on the second floor she was the sweetest thing ever she welcome me to the floor and ask if I was looking for a particular resident and she directed me back to the 1st floor dining room which they were having a event like a July 4 event which the residents look so happy with the music and entertainment. I went to stop by the 2 floor social worker which was a pleasure meeting her in person because we would always communicate over the phone as nice she is over the phone matches who she is in person. Overall I think people really need to come and meet the people who work here because it makes a tremendous difference when deciding to put a love one in a nursing home. Its in desperate need of remodeling but they have the right faces to exceed the families expectations.

I'm a medical care coordinator who visits members at facility and at my last visit, with my supervisor, we found the whole experience to be wonderful. The nurses, the admissions and administration staff were very helpful. The facility was clean, odor-free, with no visible hazards. It is a nice facility.

I enjoyed my last visit very much. My grandmother seemed to be in good spirits and very energetic. One thing that really stuck out was the overall smell in the hallways. Which was good, pleasant this time around. Unfortunately that isn't always the case. As usually there is a strong smell of human urine. Now considering the circumstances that's understandable, but a bit off putting. But as I mentioned before that smell was not present during this recent visit. So what ever cleaning products/protocols were used for the holiday schedule should remain in place all year long. Thank you for all the good work. Your efforts are being noticed.

I am very satisfied with the staff at the facility and the way they take care of my Mother. They are dedicated to her needs and treat her with professionalism and afection. Since she is at the Sands her condition improved physically and she is happier and smiling quite often... Special thanks to Nurse Adolfina who my Mom loves, Regina and the rest of the staff who are dedicated and always have a smile 😊 The facility and furnitures needs updating and I know the new management is working on it but the place is always clean and smells fresh and sanitized. Thanks Sands staff for taking such good care of our loved ones! Keep improving... well done RM

Excellent Physical Therapy. I am here because I need therapy to strengthen my core muscles and the PT staff has made great improvement with me. They know their jobs and deliver therapy with humor and class. Any problem or issues I may have had were addressed quickly. The administrator himself came to ask me about one issue I had and he completely eased my mind and reassured me. You're in good hands here@

The staff was very helpful. Next time I would like to have lunch with him. I will make arrangements ahead of time. Thank you for taking time such good care of my friend ❤️ .

Go and visit this place. You will come out with the biggest depression. There is a reason you don't see any indoor pictures. To me the heroes here are the people working there and shame on you Onyx Health. Old people should never be treated like this.

Had a meeting today in regards of to my loved one. Everyone was professional and displayed so much patience and kindness towards my loved you. My loved one has been there for over 3yrs and the facility has improved tremendously, from the structure of the building to staff. I am well pleased. Keep up the good work!😁

I received good care from all staff members including nurses, CNAs, and especially the Director of Nursing, Lynn.

The place is very clean and excellent. The people that work there are very friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful place.

Yesterday the Sands prepared a Thanksgiving day feast with some great live music and great food. Stephen thank you for your hard work; organizing a special event for my mother and all of the residents at the Sands.

Staff were friendly, helpful, wonderful, made my visit simple and enjoyable.

As a Senior Advocate and Placement Specialist, I wound up needing to use a skilled Rehabilitation Center, due to a medical condition. I knew what to look for, as I have been doing this for over 10 years now. I knew what my insurance covered and what questions to ask. The Sands is an exceptional facility. There are few places I would recommend, as my standards are high. The Sands is definitely in the top five of the 3 counties I service and over 100 facilities. You will not be disappointed!
