A-MA-ZING! I had a magical experience on my first ever dive, and I had the greatest instructor, Hannah! Just kind, easy to understand fun people who made the day fantastic. I’ve always wanted to try diving that always been scared to do it, and I couldn’t be happier than I did and then I got to dive with Hannah! The other divers we went with were fantastic as well - great people part of that community. We saw so many dozens of fish, lobsters, rays, eels, parrot fish and even a shark!Cannot recommend this place more.

We interviewed scuba diving places in Miami and surrounding areas up to 2 hours away and found this gem. I was choosing a company that I felt safe sending my 12 year old to get his certification. This company went above and beyond to make this happen, through bad weather and spring break!! Our instructor Hannah, was absolutely the most magnificent choice for an instructor! She treated my son like her own and taught him so well. He is still raving about her and this experience! Her style of teaching is very kinesthetic, making for every type of student to be able to retain the information taught. Not only did he learn so much and got his certification, but he got to see so much sea life!! Best birthday ever!! She was also so supporting of his passion for vegan culture and homeschooling, win win for us!

I have dove with Deco Divers (Tarpoon Lagoon’s dove boat) twice. Both times the weather wasn’t great, but that’s what happens when you get a storm. The staff were kind and they take safety as priority number one. First trip was in ‘17 to dove with a friend from the Netherlands that was visiting. Second was in July 5th of 2019 for my Advanced Course. Will be getting my Nitrox from them as soon as I get the time. Great shop and they have some really neat curio cabinets with some old treasures in them. P.S. my instructor for the course was Alexa and she had Greta patience. One of the divers was a young kid about 10/11 and she went through and made sure he was comfortable and had read up on the material.

I’ve been scuba diving recreationally around the world since 2011, in Australia, Asia, Middle East and Europe several times a year. This was my first time scuba diving in USA, and it was an interesting experience! The dive centre has all the required equipment to rent in good condition and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The check in process was straightforward and quick and we were on the boat within 30 minutes. We’ve done a couple of shallow dives at 30-40ft deep. They’ve coupled all licensed divers as the shallow dives are not guided unless it is requested for an additional cost. The dive sites (Neptune Memorial Reef and Rainbow Reef) were beautiful with lots of marine life. It was also my first time seeing so many huge jellyfish during a dive! Some of the main differences in my experience to diving in Europe, Australia and Asia were: 1. All units are different in USA so need to know how to sign for example 2200 psi as oppose to 150 bar. 2. All my previous dives with other dive centres outside USA, recreational dives are guided for single divers in a group at no additional cost, but here we were partnered with other divers, which did not go well for me as my partner was stressed and ran out of oxygen in the first 5-10 minutes of the first dive and we had to return to the boat! 3. In my experience with other dive centres outside USA, safety rules and hand signals are always without a fail reminded to all certified divers and potential presence of jellyfish or other potentially harmful species is warned prior to the dive, which was not the case here. I was surprised seeing so many huge jellyfish in the water which we needed to actively avoid. Unfortunately one of the divers were stung by a jellyfish right at the beginning of the first dive and had to return to the boat. All in all, based on my research looking into all dive centres nearby I think Tarpoon is one of the best dive centre in Miami beach with great staff, fully equipped boat and diving equipment. I also think Miami is a great place to learn diving as the water is warm, the marine life is beautiful and there are so many shallow reefs for first timers to learn scuba diving.

I love heading to South Beach and diving with Tarpoon Lagoon. You get a quality dive boat, superb Captain Ani, and experienced and friendly instructors. I generally dive the shallow sites, but the boat goes to all kinds of reefs and wrecks at different depths. There’s also pay by app parking under a building in the shade, as well as full marina amenities with deli, restaurants, and the stocked dive shop.

Absolutely amazing dive center. I did quite thorough research about literally every dive center in Miami and this stuck with me. Their customer service is next to none with instructors and staff who treat you like their own family. Their prices are reasonable especially compared to what others are charging. They have pretty good rental gear, along with a fully equipped store for all your needs. The boat has everything that a person could need from oxygen to life rafts. Their instruction is very well conveyed, showing complex topics with very clear concepts. Doing your certification or dives with them will have you set for a career! - Aryan

My dad and I took the scuba training class before the dive with Jerry. He was very knowledgeable and patient with us! He answered all of our questions and we felt confident about the dive later that day. Such a great group of people, very helpful, it was a great experience!

Thank you for an incredible dive day! The boat departs right outside the shop, which makes getting gear there easy. The captain gave the best and most thorough safety briefing I’ve ever gotten in my 13+ years of diving. Bonus point for showers on the boat and another bonus point for the freshwater bucket for my camera. Highly recommend! Also the shop is amazing and they have a great selection of different gear to chose from. Will be back!

Fabulous experience. I booked this on a whim - and it turned out to be the highlight of my stay in Miami. I never dived before. The patient instruction and education by Bruce was first class. He's a very thoughtful, funny and patient man. He literally led me around the bottom of the ocean by the hand haha.. Thanks Bruce and thanks Tarpoon!

Best Experience Ever! We came as a group of three and participated in the Open Water Certification class. From the very beginning, everyone in the shop was so positive and helpful in teaching and assuring us of how to start diving. Pat helped us do the orientation and get fitted for gear, and Bruce took over with our PADI instruction for the two-day course. We all arrived a little nervous but quickly relaxed as Bruce was so knowledgable, patient, good-humored and focused on our safety and comfort. I never felt like I was rushed into anything with uncertainty; every step of the way, Bruce made sure we had the confidence and understanding to complete the steps and enjoy the dives. We learned a lot of skills above and below water and we all felt so accomplished and motivated. Both afternoons, Bruce took us out on the boat (Deco Diver) with a larger group, and we explored two separate reefs each day. We saw tons of fish, giant grouper, lobster, stingrays, jellyfish and all kinds of beautiful coral. The entire crew at the shop and on the boat were just the coolest people to be around and 100% focused on safety at all times. I have to say, this was one of the most magnificent experiences I've ever had. It truly expanded my consciousness and made me feel so connected to the ocean and the people around me. I STRONGLY recommend you take the leap and try it out, and definitely do it with Tarpoon Lagoon because they are top notch, 100% focused on safety and they provide an unforgettable experience. We will be back to do many dives with them, and we cannot wait! HUGE THANK YOU to Bruce, Tarpoon Lagoon, the Deco Diver, Captain Ani and crew, the giant Grouper who made us all feel so honored to be near it, and everyone else who made this experience of a lifetime. See you soon!

Quite dissatisfied by the overall experience. The boat ride, scuba dive experience seemed rushed. Pat was the dive instructor who went with us. They focus on scuba over snorkeling. Snorkelers get no instruction or support. In addition to that, you got to wash your own scuba equipment outside the store before returning it. And everything just boils down to the tip!

This dive shop was awesome in helping me get my open water cert. Instructors Pat and Bruce made sure I was able to understand and absorb all the knowledge they had, which was above in beyond what you would expect, leaving me super confident underwater. The entire shop was an awesome group Santiago,Betty, Shane, making everyone there feel like comfortable. Highly recommend this dive shop

I hadn’t been diving in a year and a half so I was a bit nervous coming into this experience. However, my dive guide Bruce was awesome, funny, and very kind and answered all my questions while also making our group feel confident and comfortable. I am so glad I know this dive shop now. The visibility was perfect and it was a beautiful day. I highly recommend to dive with Tarpoon Lagoon when they go to the Neptune Memorial dive site. Thanks guys!

Very professional dive center that also manages to be fun and laid back. Everyone knows what they are doing and are extremely friendly and helpful. Great experience with Jake and the wreck diving course. He also gave me tons of tips to improve all aspects of my diving. The second day were two tremendous dives on the Spiegle Grove. Can't say enough good things about Jake and the crew at Tarpoon Lagoon!

Bruce our dive instructor was phenomenal! Really funny and knowledgeable human. We got certified a couple months ago and are so grateful we had such an amazing time with our first open water dives. We had the opportunity to get advanced open water certified but decided to wait to have an excuse to hang out with Bruce. Everyone else at tarpoon lagoon is very kind and funny, a great experience overall!

Captain and crew are top notch. Dive is well organized. Too expensive for snorkel and ride a long. Some Key Largo charters charge only $15 to $50 NOT $100! Overall, great day.

Enjoyable day on the water with dive master and guide Bruce. Safe, great company, and easy to learn from! Bruce is why I like joining others when I’m visiting from afar! Enjoyed how easy the shop made it to work with them!

My boyfriend and I flew from New York City to Miami to get PADI certified. We had the absolute pleasure of having Bruce as our instructor. Bruce went above and beyond teaching us what we needed to know above and below the surface. The crew at the shop took care of our diving needs and helped us rent and buy our own equipment. We will be back to get our deep water certifications through Bruce. 150% recommend this shop to take care of you with any of your diving needs.

Great Dive shop and great dive classes. Instructors are top notch and extremely patient. Pat and Mondo have a special place in my heart. My ears are really sensitive to the pressure changes and they made me feel comfortable during every step in the certification process. 10/10 highly recommend

Just finished my Advanced Open Water certification at Tarpoon Lagoon and Deco Divers as well as 4 fun dives after certification. Not only was it a good time but the whole process was very smooth. My instructor, Pat, and the rest of the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. The only hiccup was making sure my tanks were DIN compatible.

I never knew I wanted to Dive!! The Staff, starting with the Owners all the way down to the Dive Masters are incredible. Betty and Santi took all the anxiety and fear right out of me and gave me the confidence to really step out of my comfort zone. I felt safe and encouraged as i learned an incredible new skill. Dive Here!!

In response to my co-traveler’s review, I can vouch for me and my entire group that nothing was discussed with us. We were told that there were jellyfish in the water and that it was just a “little windy but shouldn’t be too bad”. A “little windy” is different from incredibly rough seas. We understand you can not control the seas but no refund or cancellation discussion was ever brought up. As a dive center and as professionals, if you believe that conditions are not suited for your snorkelers then a discussion should have taken place. I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of accountability from this shop and to place blame on your costumers is extremely unprofessional.

My sister and I took our Open Water Diving Certification at Tarpoon Lagoon, and our instructor was with Hannah and Maya. We had the absolute best experience. Extremely thorough in the content and techniques of safe diving and very empathetic and patient trainers. They also are hilarious which made the entire two days fun. The vibes are just really cool at this place, and you can tell they prioritize respect and kindness within their entire team by how close all the employees are with one another. Hannah is also specialized (or certified) in identifying fish. What made the experience even better was how good she was at finding the sea creatures in the water that someone else may just swim over. She spotted multiple really cool species like an eel hiding away, sting rays and two babies, huuuuge puffer fish, and many more. Lastly, I recommend buying your own goggles and snorkel gear at the shop, it was a game changer. Highly recommend!!

Amazing place with amazing people. Hannah is a fantastic instructor. Meghan is a wonderful receptionist. There was also a man on our dive and I didn’t get his name but he really helped me when I was getting scared in the open water. Definitely recommend.

I would absolutely not go here for snorkeling. Our entire trip felt as though we were on a scuba trip that last minute added on snorkels. The water was rough and there was nothing for the snorkels to see unless you dove down. Each of the reefs we went too were too deep for snorkeling. 10/10 do not recommend going here.
