I just recently (in june) attempt to get help here. I came in to do the evaluation, completed all the paperwork then was told I'd have to come back later that day (chose not to as my anxiety was bad with 1 trip out my house.) I came back & completed the evaluation, loved the lady who did it, she was great. The 1st appointments with the therapist, susan, she never called me, the 2nd time I was transferred to her supervisor who I left a detailed voicemail for, never received a call from her either. Susan did call for the 3rd appointment (18mins late) the 4th appointment set up she did not call for a 3rd time. I called to ask for a new therapist to be transferred to Susan's supervisor as I have to go through her to get a new therapist only to reach voicemail again, in the middle of leaving a voicemail a recording said message deleted please start again. I do not recommend south community.

Very disappointed with the experiences I've had here with members of my family. In a few instances we ran into a staff member who was simply unwilling to explain what we needed to know in order to take the best course of action in treatment/therapy. Basic minor breakdowns in communication have resulted in unnecessary stress and confusion. A company that presents itself as a community resource for help in mental health should hire people who are empathetic and able to assess if the clients are comfortable and understand fully what is being said to them. They are not to make assumptions of clients before they are even allowed to explain their situation. They should also be willing to speak with family who are supportive of the client and want clarification on aspects of visits, not become impatient, defensive and shut down conversation in a rude manner. What's unfortunate is that many people are unable to afford insurance or to go to private treatment facilities and this is their only option. So there's no real incentive for a place like this to "be better" because they have more clientele than they can probably handle. This system "works" for them. It's just incredibly disappointing. I hope this facility is the exception and not the rule. Also, please instruct staff not to yell over the phone and air they're person problems for the whole room to hear, it's very uncomfortable.

South Community is very deceptive in how they choose to conduct their business. I am highly dissatisfied in their phone appointments, specifically with the mental health therapists a Ms. Parthina to be exact. I made multiple appoints by phone only to be met with little to no effort on behalf of this company.

Been a patient here for some time. The front desk very very rarely picks up, returns or answers calls. Today I've called four times and have been hung up on after being put on hold for a few minutes while trying to simply ask what time my appointment is.

South Community has been working/ assisting my daughter Lilly Fugate since preschool due to emotional issues and outbursts that were extremely severe. Now that she is regulated on her medication after quite the battle. The receptionist that I spoke to today said that she tried to contact me once and my mailbox was full, which is not my fault. She never spoke with me which is definitely a form of neglect and negligence! She said that Dr. Mike didn't have any openings until June 29th They refuse to continue or give my daughter any refills after knowing her history for many years which will lead her into horrible withdrawal due to Concerta being a narcotic not to mention suicidal idealations as a result. If there is any repercussions of this action or lack thereof there will be a lawsuit before sunset today!!

Terrible experience. They closed my case after they themselves messed up my appointments. Now I am in withdraw from my medicine because they won’t prescribe me any medicine and want to do another “intake”. It was there fault for missing two telehealthappointments. They never pick up the phone. Nothing seems to be a priority for this office. Needless to say I won’t be back or recommending their services.

Case management is pretty much non-existent, it's mostly just an accountability buddy to sit with you while you figure everything out on your own. No help getting the proper paperwork, no one with any familiarity with the disability application process, told to google to look for services in the community when I'm already isolated and overwhelmed. They can barely keep staff, so everyone is in training and overloaded. Supportive employment was actually helpful, but then I lost that since no one properly explains how to maintain your services. The process to get started is also truly miserable; multiple hours of just sitting in their horrible waiting room, over multiple days. And all to never get appropriate help. It's just sad.

Awful LP assigned to me instead of a psyc dr. for meds. I'm not listened to, I'm treated like an addict asking for meds I can't have (no matter how many times I repeat I don'twant them), I'm being manipulated and pushed to take meds every visit we have for something I'm not diagnosed with on a hunch she has, they RARELY answer the phone at the main line, and their support staff makes LOTS of mistakes & is not very helpful when things go wrong. Their office also plays games with you.. it's tough on someone with mental health issues. Not recommended

*note- I’m updating this after receiving the “response” from south community the same day I posted my review I have been a client since 2016 and have had countless problems, especially within the past year. I have only been able to focus on fighting for the services they already agreed that I need; there has been no room to even make progress toward living a normal life. Instead, they have put me through more trauma I will need to overcome. The staff have knowingly left me in dangerous situations and immediate crisis more than once while telling me there isn’t anything they can do. I tried speaking with the client right’s officer to navigate some of my concerns (particularly not receiving agreed upon services) and it left me more hopeless. I recently found out that my “team” was sending emails about basically surprising me at my psychiatrist appointment to confront me and tell me I’m expecting too much. Meanwhile, I am not getting the basic needs met, let alone having my medical needs addressed. 🧐 Advocating for yourself here will not get you help. Kelsie (nurse practitioner) has been absolutely wonderful though. She is validating and supportive and encouraging and compassionate. ***update*** While the services have significantly decreased in both quality and frequency, this year I did not receive any of the services that were promised to me. My trust was broken by your agency. After years of trying to get the services you promised and going through your grievance procedure while either hearing nothing or being blamed, your scripted response is completely what I expected. I should not have to post my personal health information online in order to get a response from the agency that is supposed to be helping me.

I had an appt at 9:30 and did not talk to Jenna my Prescriber. I did not get a call from her until 10:30 am. Jenna had an Emergency with her first client and the nurse knew Jenna was running late and did not bother to say anything. I have had other problems with calling the office and no one answering. If you don't have to go there I would not recommend it.

The front desk ladies, some not all,are a bit rude. They saw me standing in front of the glass sliding window and did not bother to aske me what I needed. I waited until she called someone up there and I confronted her then. I understand they get frustrated with clientele, but please be professional and do not be mean. People who come here deal with different issues, even if you hate your job, be professional.

Due to HIPAA I am unable to discuss the details surrounding my review, but just know this place does not give their patients the time, attention or resources they deserve causing additional undue stress and trauma.

My girlfriend turned to south community years ago when she was in crisis and they have been consistently failing her ever since. From a complete absence of case management to failing to find her appropriate housing. They were aware of her trauma symptoms and used them as justification for their poor, half hearted attempts to reach out and "help". She has dealt with countless representatives of the organization and nobody will take the time to even fully read her file, which should be the FIRST thing you do before contacting the client. She has attempted to follow the proper channels to get help and south community continues to act defensive about their own failings and pass blame at every possible opportunity. She tried to go through their grievance procedure and they did not document her complaints. She filed a second and they claimed to not find evidence. She appealed and they admitted fault but did not fix their client rights violations. The CEO, Lisa Carter, deflects every time she is asked directly. The impression i get, after seeing documentation that corroborates everything my girlfriend has been dealing with, is that South community is not interested in "hard" cases. They may be okay for your basic therapy services, but do not count on them if you are in crisis, and certainly not if your life depends on it.

During quarantine--when meetings with a therapist or psychiatrist had to be over the phone--they either called too early or too late rather than at or near the scheduled time, so I ended up missing the calls. They regularly would call or mail to let me know that they had to reschedule an appointment due to the place being closed, and due to the scheduling receptionist apparently not having noticed that. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Receptionists were sometimes rude--early on I had to ask them a couple times to use their phone so I could call my ride and let her know I was ready to be picked up. Once the lady angrily dialed the number herself, then snapped into the line "she's ready" rather than pass me the receiver, as though what I was asking was somehow a major inconvenience. Besides rude, this is unnecessarily infantilizing. After this incident, my ride stayed in her car in the parking lot with a book so I didn't need to call her, but it shouldn't have been necessary to arrange this. The waiting rooms often have loud obnoxious children and/or people talking loudly on their cell phones. Receptionists need to do something about this, particularly when it comes to adults making unnecessary noise. The last thing someone with anxiety/noise issues needs is to come and wait in a place like this. My therapist seemed at a loss as to how to help me--one session ended with her handing me a photocopied sheet of paper with "mindfulness" printed on it. If I was 8 years old and just learning about this concept, this might have been useful. As it is, I was underwhelmed. A woman assigned to help me get back into the workforce didn't respond to my calls with questions about the process. The most positive experience I had regarding SC was when I made the decision to stop dealing with them. Going there and/or interacting with staff just made me feel that much more depressed, anxious, angry, and helpless. If you try them out and they manage to help you, great. But don't be afraid to walk away if and when that's no longer the case.

My therapist Tanda is absolutely amazing! She reaches out and cares very much! She takes her time and listens and gives advice! Dr. Songer I have been with her many of years! She is the best doctor in the world to me! I trust them! And I truly care for them both very much! I would never want to leave south community as long as I have them! Thank you very much for being there for me and caring for me! I love you both!

I absolutely love my therapist, Decruz; and my PA, Kelsie. They always accommodate my needs and they are genuine people. However, the only drawback to this whole outfit is that there isn’t a nurse on-call after hours.

South Community has been my place for therapy since 2004. I have had a number of therapists and a couple different psychiatrists in that time. Each one had something to offer, if I was willing to listen. I recommend South for anyone who needs mental health services. There have been hiccups in services, but they always get resolved.
