I highly recommend staying at the Mangrove Bay Hotel on your trip in Pohnpei for many reasons. They have free shuttle service to and from the airport which is a plus. Upon checking in the front desk (located upstairs) staff members were very helpful with all of my questions and needs (RiRi was awesome!!). The front office is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm every day. In the front office they have beer, soda, chips, candies, oatmeal, ramen, and little travel necessities you may need. They have free coffee or tea with hot water and a microwave. (No microwaves are in rooms only the front office). They also have souvenirs you can purchase as well. Also something that I wish I would have known ahead of time which I love and is Eco friendly instead of buying a bunch of water bottles the night before just inform them you would like to purchase for $5.00 a water jug and its a massive water jug that is sure to last you a few days. I highly recommend asking for it upon arrival. The front desk will also call you a taxi which is $1.00 per person for in town rides. There is 24 hour security. OHH! They have bananas hanging at the door of the office and they are free! I didn't know till the last day. The location is right outside of the town and I timed myself walking at a normal pace it took me about 30 minutes to get to the Tourism Center which is in the middle to beginning of town. There is plenty of grocery stores, markets, and places to eat that take about a 10-15 minute walk. I know this was a big debate somewhere in a review or question. The room was amazing! Each room has 2 beds, a TV, a fridge, and silverware, plates, cups, mugs, bowls, and the most amazing view! We did not have our room cleaned the time we were there but im sure the service was good. Beds are comfy!! Wifi is spotty but its still nice to be able to connect. There is a sushi restaurant directly located next to the hotel which is open for lunch and dinner. You can also order Arnold's which is $1.00 delivery fee. Since the sushi place does not serve breakfast you can call Arnold's the day before and have them deliver breakfast to your room at whatever time you choose. Also you can eat Arnold's in the sushi place if you arent a fan of sushi but your group is. The Pohnpei surf club is located downstairs in the hotel. Amazing service there as well. They have a bunch of activities for you to do such as diving, surfing, land tours, or hikes. As well as recommendations to places to shop, eat, and hike. As stated in another review check out is at 11:00 am but I mean come on......if that's the check out time that's the check out time...... You can store your luggage in the office even if you have a late flight the security is able to open the door and get it for you. They also provide 2 kayaks for free use for hotel guests or $10 for non hotel guests where you can kayak to the nearby wrecks and mangroves. I highly recommend this as it is really worth the time. Between the beautiful up-kept hotel, the amazing location and view, and the friendly staff members my time in Pohnpei was well spent. Thank you again!

Excellent staff. Incredible location and views. A/C and King sized beds. Safe location and amazing, responsibly priced Sushi restaurant across the parking lot from hotel. Free airport shuttle and dive shop downstairs. Can't recommend highly enough.

Post COVID, it’s very quiet in FSM. The hotel is ok. We first booked the “basic” room downstairs, which was the only one showing available online. It has a strange layout and the furniture looks very old. Had to move to one of the regular rooms on the second floor due to a shower issue. It’s much better. The layout is more open, the balcony is more usable. The view from the balcony is lovely. Too bad the restaurant nearby does not serve breakfast, although there is coffee in the mornings in the reception area. Had to go to a different place to get breakfast - which is quite a hike up, since the hotel is located down a hill by the bay. The dive shop is operational but they don’t get much work these days. On the bright side, as two divers we were the only ones and could call the shots on the dive sites and the pace. Best to arrange ahead of time if you’re only here for a short while, we only had one day and were lucky to make it work. Some people were turned away because there was no crew for the day they needed. The dive guide was friendly but not overly enthusiastic - don’t expect detailed pre-dive briefings.

Stay here if you are coming to dive, surf, snorkel etc. Restaurant and bar are good albeit slow and a bit inattentive. Best to walk up and order and grab drinks at the bar rather than wait for them to notice you. Food is worth the wait though. I did a couple of snorkeling trips and was very pleased. They also offer a boat trip to Nan Madol which is a must see ancient site and visiting by boat is the best way to experience!

Charming Beauty by the bay! This place was one of the most magical places we have ever stayed in, especially in this part of the world. Built with a touch of class, and on the edge of the waterfront it comes with all the attributes you would expect in a charming Romantic retreat in a destination blessed by nature like Pohnpei. Absolute stunner and sweet!. In fact, this place was one of the reasons, why we chose Pohnpei over the other islands of Micronesia! LOCATION: Lovely location right on the edge of Mangrove bay with great views of the Sokeh Rock and harbour and marina DINE + DRINK: Travelling to far flung & still untouched destinations rewards you with a lot of surprises. But they are typically around sightseeing and history. We surely didn't expect to stumble upon such a stunning location for a Sundowner and a Meal with view in a place like this. The bar on the edge of waterfront is simply spectacular. However the food is limited to Sushi bar and other simpler items, though they allow delivery from a local restaurant called ARNOLD’s that is not too far away and has great selection of delicious food ROOM: I stayed in Room #8, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Spectacular View of the Bay in front and the lovely Mountains & harbour; SIZE: Very spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Super Tiny bed that was not the best one you would expect from a place that took care of all other needs; BATHROOM: Very small bathroom with Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Low quality, So bring your own Cosmetics! FACILITIES:Be prepared to get into a pure pacific ocean chill-out mode! No gym, pool or any other facilities. But you have the option to take their free kayaks and go around the bay which is highly recommended SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to Front office girl who was all smiles and friendly with all the services including airport transfers. So were the staff at the Bar. HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi connection - that is a bit slow - but works well all over the property. No Television in the room though, So be prepared to connect dearly with your loved one or family! :-)

Cant give a proper rating/reviewas we stayed in the marina on a sailingboat. After four days in the open sea sailing from the Marshall Islands and coming here it is probebly the best thing that has happened in my life. I think i cried when the marina dude said we could use the showers FOR FREE! To top it of, the restaurants servers seriously delicious sushi, so many varieties i dont think i will ever get bored. Also friendly staff in the restaurant and in the dive/surfing center. Even though we were not guests of the hotel they have taken such care of us. If i were to stay in a hotel in Phonpei, this would be it.

Staff is not as pleasant as they could be... bed not comfortable and the place is isolated. Stay closer to Kolonia and not have to walk up a steep hill to get 'anywhere'. They say a 5 minute walk to town, but its 5 minutes just to reach the main road, and more like 25 minutes walk to the center, I didn't use housekeeping all week and kept my room spotless and yet when time to check out, I realized I had been on the wrong time, due to their clock in the room being incorrect, and failed to check out right at 11 am... reception charged me a late check out fee even after explaining the mistake. I was given 5 minutes to vacate and even though it was closer to 10, I was still charged. Also, hardly anyone around all week, so this must be a way of recouping money... Very tacky and they lost a customer and any referral for $30, which I plan to charge back to my credit card.

Lovely, clean and spacious rooms with large and clean bathroom. The rooms have great air conditioning, mini fridge, views from private deck and wifi, although in some areas its stronger than in others. The sheets and towels are nice and soap is provided but bring your own shampoo and other amenities. Although the hotel is on the water Pohnpei is surrounded by Mangrove forests rather than beaches so expect to go by boat if you want to find a beach type of swimming experience. This 8 room hotel has no on-site restaurant but easy breakfast delivery from Arnolds arrives faster than most mainland room service and the charming sushi bar right across the parking lot sits over the marina and serves fantastic sushi and bar food. The hotel has free coffee and bananas in the reception area. The onsite surf club can arrange tours. The friendly staff picked us up at the airport even though we arrived hours late, Thank You!! We only stayed one night but will definitely come back for a return trip.

Sitting on my balcony as I write this looking down on the Angelfish swimming. Beautiful view of the harbor. This hotel is brand new, having just opened two months ago. VERY friendly staff. Great price! All the creature comforts of home including free internet and cable tv. A load of laundry done by the staff was $10.00. Most asian hotels charge that much for one shirt. Great location for water adventures with the Pohnpei Surf Club below us, and easy $1.00 taxi ride to all the best restaurants in town. A three course meal at these restaurants (Cupids or Ocean View) will cost around $9.00. The freshly caught tuna is delicious.

Great location in front of ocean. Clean and kind staff. Good Wi-Fi speed. Soap is including, so bring shampoo and toothpaste too. I like the outdoor deck too. Bar has awesome sashimi dishes too. Highly recommend.

Great place--great/safe location, great view, nice people, clean. My only objection was the very LOUD music booming past midnight at the hotel-owned restaurant, adjacent. It made the stay unpleasant.
