I am really fond of this seafood Cafe! The food here is simply fabulous. The restaurant is right in front of horse shoe bay, and you can enjoy your meal while listening to the calming waves of sea. I am always sceptical when it comes to seafood, and this place offers the best quality. The price might be a little heavy on pocket, but the ambience, taste and the quality is worth it. We ordered the following: - Australian Prawn Skewers with Mango, Chilli & Coriander Salsa. Too good! We hogged on this delicacy in seconds. - Barramundi Bites with Sriracha Aioli & Lime. The flour to barramundi meat ratio needs to be appreciated and these have the thinest coating of flour and have a lot of meat in every bite. Again, no complains! - Natural Oysters (4) with Lime. The rustic and fresh flavour of oysters is raw and strong. Depends on your palate. Am not too fond of oysters but everyone at the table cherished it! - King George Whiting (battered and grilled) with Fried Herb Chat Potatoes, Lettuce, Cucumber, Feta, Onion & Tomato Salad, Lime & Tartare. It was a seafood lover's moment to rejoice. This fish is one of my favourites. They definitely did justice to its taste. - 300gm Porterhouse Fillet with Truffle Scented Smashed Potatoes, Red Chimichurri, Broccolini, Baby Carrots, Garlic & Thyme Butter. Loaded and heavy, this dish is a meat lover's heaven. - Seafood Platter for Two King George Whiting, Calamari, Prawns, Cockles, Oysters, Fried Herb Chat Potatoes, Lettuce, Cucumber, feta, Onion & Tomato Salad, Lime & Tartare. This was the star of the show, huge platter containing all types and varieties of seafood. Do order it if you love seafood and have a big appetite. Will definitely be smitten with.

It would be a 3.5 as it just doesn’t warrant a 4 in this case. We stopped for takeaway and the online order process is smooth and easy to use. Packaging of takeaway food is environmentally friendly. Two downsides. Fish could probably have spent a bit more time draining as it was really oily. The tartare sauce was tasteless. It tasted like cream mixed with mayo and did nothing to enhance the fish. Prices we’re reasonable. Just a shame about the taste.

Absolutely outstanding on all accounts. Kids menu was excellent! Drinks selection was great. Our oysters were incredible and the main course was among the best seafood meals I have ever had. Incredible work. I'll be back next time I'm in Goolwa!

I don't normally review but this was such a stand out example of bad customer service. The food and view doesn't make up for it. We arrived for our reservation on time at 10:45. We went to order and were told to stand in the long and crowded kiosk/takeaway line, even though we reserved a table inside. So after looking at the menu for less than 10 minutes, standing in line for 20 minutes and waiting for our food for another 15... The waitress tells us we have 20 odd minutes left to eat our entire meal before they "kick us out" for the next sitting! Even though we reserved a table and arrived on time! We asked how that was fair on us. We were met with shockingly zero empathy from the older woman who seemed to be running the shift. She just said coldly and condescendingly, "that's how it is". As our time was "running out", another waitress came over and shook our cups to see if they were empty before taking them and our unfinished salad away! I just want to highlight that across all the interactions we had with the same waitress/ shift manager, she had zero empathy for us and shouldn't be in a customer facing position if she behaves this way. It's sad that at this point in her life she has yet to learn how to communicate and handle situations with empathy.

Great little place to have a delicious dinner. We had the Steak and the Squid Salad. A little on the pricier side, but the food is well worth the cost. It is all cooked beautifully and you get a really decent portion size. The service was spectacular! It is all table service and the wait staff a friendly, welcoming and helpful. The space itself gets a little loud when it’s full, but so do most places these days. You also get a lovely view of the water rolling in as the restaurant is right off the beach! Will definitely be going again.

Got to be one of the best fish and chips I’ve had in a while, and in a great spot. We just had it at the cafe and it was brilliant.

We choose to get the fish and chips takeaway and sit in the park next door. Fish was fresh, cooked to perfection, the oil was fresh, and decent sized portions

Beautiful lunch overlooking the bay. Awesome views. Delicious food. Seared Australian Scallops for entree were stunning. 30 day Aged Najobe Scotch Fillet was divine. The Crispy Pork Belly with sweet apricot chutney was so delicious. I can't wait to return to have this dish again. Great service - we were running late and it was kindly accomodated. We went a bit past closing time as well due to our lateness but again this was accomodated beautifully. Our waiter was attentive and gave us really good service. Overall beautiful meal, location and food with excellent service.

Thank you to Harriet and all the staff for a fantastic lunch. You rolled with our birthday vibe for 10 people with such ease and a great sense of humour. Catering for both adult and teenage needs. The food and beverage was great. Those prawn tacos are amazing. Fresh oysters and yummy fish and chips, all overlooking the stunning Horseshoe Bay.

The perfect seaside setting. With seagulls flying en masse by the windows and the bluest of skies. Glorious oysters to start and fresh seafood. Every blessing for the future renovations - make it happen.

Took my dad here for Christmas eve lunch. It was mostly a pleasant experience. For an upmarket restaurant I would expect a perfect experience and they didn’t deliver. The first thing i noticed on arrival was the sticky floor near the table. So sticky my shoes took effort to peel as I walked and the sound 😟. Well first we ordered hot chocolate and soft drinks, we’re not into alcohol, only got a cup and not a mug like asking. Lady was happy to change it but I said it didn’t matter. I originally drove the 2 hrs because their online menu said pork belly. She then told me that they recently changed the menu. So I proceeded to order a number of different things to get to try a variety. Ok so the fish and chips was average. Nothing wrong but also not worth the price. The duck spring rolls had a lovely flavour and dipping sauce but only half was crispy and the other half was soggy. Garlic bread was lovely with a light crunch on the edges. The board was amazing, that dip was divine. Could have just ordered that and been happy. The crispy roasted potatoes were mostly soft and fluffy inside but were not crispy on the outside sadly but still tasted great. Their downfall was those fish tacos. They were yuk and the fish was disgusting and they got sent back to the kitchen barely touched. Then when i tried to complain about them i was met with bad attitude and degrading for my apparent inability to know good food. Which ruined my entire experience. I understand that they were busy the whole time we were there but did not deserve that treatment for saying we didn’t enjoy one of the many food items we paid a lot of money for. Otherwise i would still recommend the restaurant itself but suggest not to make any complaints about anything to others. The view was also lovely but just wished they had just one window open for some fresh air with so many people inside. Anyway they lost a point due to those tacos and ill treatment by one lady on departure.

Great food and service, as always. Today we had the flathead and the squid salad. The squid salad was delicious.

We were three friends who enjoyed a window seat away from the craziness of outside. The food and service was excellent and the room was like a retreat away from the crowds. It was lovely being able to sit and enjoy the view and not feel rushed. We will be back!

Been going to this resuarant for 8 years however, this year was a big disapointment. The food was below standard. No longer offered is the seafood platter for x 2 but now a subsandard altenative for x 1. I uderstand the resturant has changed hands and as usual, the quality of food presented has changed. New owners queezing out profit over

We run our own touring business - Ambler Touring. One of our favourite lunch stops for our #FleurieuPeninsula tours is this delightful, versatile Cafe that offers takeaway, ' on the deck' or restaurant style eating, with a perfect range of seafood option's of consistently high quality. Always a winner 🏆 with our guests (and us)

On a warm spring day, we made the decision to have fish and chips. Offering both an outdoor section for prompt fish and chips service and a restaurant section, our choice leaned toward the latter on this occasion. The menu presented an extensive array of options, spanning from the classic fish and chips to the more elaborate fish bouillabaisse. Our dining experience was enhanced by the captivating vistas of the beach, affording us a picturesque setting. Furthermore, the standard of service was nothing short of exceptional, as exemplified by the thoughtful provision of children’s coloring packs, which engaged our young companions. My personal selection, the crumbed whiting, stood out for its delicate and thin coating, allowing the true essence of the whiting to shine through. The freshness of the dish was palpable. In light of this remarkable experience, I am inclined to revisit this restaurant repeatedly.

The Flying Fish is the best place to eat!!! It is definitely my favourite!!! The restaurant is top end, food, service and value for money, not to mention the fabulous on beach location with stunning views across Horseshoe Bay!!! In addition right next door to the restaurant is a cafe style eatery with equally as high quality food and service. If that isn’t enough they have an ice cream serving hatch so you can grab a cone with delicious ice cream and take a stroll along the stunning beach!! You have to go to appreciate what you are missing if you don’t.

We booked dinner for my lovely friend’s birthday and pre ordered our food. The team was amazing at communicating with us prior to the event. On the night, everything went smoothly and the team was so friendly and professional and we were so impressed by such young and helpful staff. The food was all delicious and the service was also great. We will back whenever we’re at Port Elliott next. Thank you.

All 3 of us loved our meals. Not one complaint amongst us. The fish was perfectly cooked. The oil obviously clean. It was the nicest fish and chips I've had in a very long time. Staff were accommodating making my daughter a milkshake which wasn't a standard menu item. I would most definitely go again. Do yourselves a favour and go.

Fabulous place to enjoy a meal overlooking the bay! Unbeatable view while enjoying fantastic fresh food. Elizabeth was serving us, she also took our booking and was very professional and delivered the highest standard of customer service. A must try if you haven’t been before.

All the given stars for the ambiance, customer service and the quality of food. 1 missed star is because of the quantity, which is very very low. It would be great if you could give in more quantity xD. Thanks for having us guys.
