👍👍 Great food, great service. My favorites from my most recent visit are the BBQ Chik'n Mac and Cheese and the Sweet Heat Chili Over Rice, for which the cornbread is the perfect accompaniment. Lots of GF options too. Can't wait to come back and try more of the menu 😋 People often mention cheese, vegan, sandwich, chicken, empanadas, Vegan, menu, good, great, Buffalo,

We ordered via Uber-eats, therefore I cannot rate service not atmosphere. To Beginn with, i would actually rate the food 3,5 but since there is no half, i rounded it up to 4. Food: Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Pizza, Empanadas (3x Spinach and 3X Cheesesteak) Mac N Cheese and Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese. Pizza: Taste was good but the pizza base was too crunchy and not at all soft. Mac n Cheese was alright, but dry; but the buffalo chicken version made it a little more juicy and therefor more tasteful. I would definitely recommend the buffalo chicken version over the regular one. The empanadas were also alright. Unfortunately we did not try the Philly cheesesteaks that our friends ordered and were drooling over, perhaps this could be nice as well. (Maybe next time!) Long story short, love the concept of a vegan fast food place and will therefor recommend it. Enjoy the pictures and videos.

I don’t ever leave reviews in fact I never have but this is some of the worse vegan food I’ve had. I got the margarita pizza an it looked nothing like the photo on the site and tasted like cardboard. 0 flavor. The cookies were Aldi very chalky. Empanadas were ok . You can find much better places with a similar menu I’d suggest doing that .

I have been wanting to try this spot for so long and I finally got the chance. I called in my order of the chic'ken cutlet sandwich and yes it's 100% vegan. When I arrived I parked locally on the street. I walked in and a man that was cutting up food asked if he could help. I told him my name and he said a few more minutes. My food came out about 3 minutes later. I paid a little over $17 and left. When I got home I dug in. The sandwich was huge. It had a good taste to it as well. I definitely would like to try more things at this restaurant.

I was a bit underwhelmed by the food and don’t think it lived up to the hype. The max and cheese was very dry and didn’t have too much flavor. The “pulled pork” sliders were okay. I give them an extra star for good portions but I don’t think I would be back.

So glad Freakin Vegan is so conveniently located because they are AMAZING!! Vegan comfort food at its finest! The Buffalo chik'n mac and cheez, the potato bowls-soo good! I literally crave the breakfast tamales they are out of this world!! It's counter service but if you wanted you could eat at a small hi-top they have in front. Even if you are not Vegan I guarantee you will enjoy anything you order from here!

Disappointing. They burned the bacon in the croissant I ordered. For eleven dollars, I want a nice sandwich. My previous order was great tasting/quality, but it took a long time. I knew they were at a new location so we figured we'd give it a while before we order again. This time we still had to choose replacement empanadas, and were given one we chose and a random different flavor. They didn't taste as good as last time. The country chikn bowl had undercooked potato chunks, and a small amount of chikn for a 14 dollar bowl. Maybe if they minimized their menu it'd help. Wish it was better since there aren't too many places around.

Tried their broccoli and cheddar empanadas, buffalo chicken Mac & cheese and pulled pork sliders at VegFest. The max & cheese is very good and creamy and great with the buffalo chicken- couldn’t tell it was vegan. I liked the empanada dough. The pulled pork sliders were a little on the sweet slide but also good.

Stopped here after an event nearby after reading all the reviews…my Chkn Parm was delicious!!! Sometimes vegan meats can taste artificial or “rubbery” but my sandwich was tasty. Portions were generous, as I had to wrap half of my sandwich for later & it was piping hot when I picked it up. The owner was very friendly as well. Looking forward to trying something else off the menu when I’m in the area again.

My boyfriend and I live 30 minutes away but still had to make a second trip here to try more stuff. The menu has something for everyone, it’s so hard to pick what to order haha. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and I have two feelings. If I could cook like this at home for my boyfriend he would be vegan and we will definitely be back for more !

We love to grab empanadas at the farmers market from Freakin Vegan and chat with the owner who is super friendly and patient. We're so excited about the new Ridgewood spot. Been twice here so far and it is truly delicious. Highly recommend the Philly, the bbq cheesy waffle fry sandwich, cole slaw, empanadas, and desserts when they have them available!

We love their food. The empanadas, mash potatoes bowls and pull pork subs are amazing and we can’t wait to keep on trying the rest of the menu!!!

We love the cheese steaks here! Today I stopped by and I have a new love. Their mushroom empanadas are like the mushroom soup I loved as a kid in portable form. Caramelized onions, chunky mushrooms, they’re a real comfort umami bomb. Freakin’ Vegan is just a wonderful place - great food and great people!

It takes a lot for me to rate something with 5 stars. I have been vegetarian for 16 years, finding a place that's whole menu is Vegan is awesome, wish someone did it sooner, but it was overwhelming having so many options that all sound delicious. Luckily I ordered in store and when I had questions, the owner was right there to answer them all, which helped me make a decision. I chose the Philly Cheesesteak sandwich because the owner explained to me how they make their own Seitan, and thinly slice it, then slightly sear it during the process of cooking the ingredients for the sandwich, which created a much more pleasant mouth feel than some other restaurants that toss chunks of rubbery seitan on their vegan options. I'm not Vegan, and still do eat real cheese so I wasn't expecting to be blown away by the vegan cheese used on this sandwich but to my surprise, while I definitely notice the difference, mainly in its texture... it was about the closest I've ever had to MELTED vegan cheese, and works well with the texture and flavor of their thinly sliced seitan. I ate half the sandwich without adding hot sauce, and it's seasoned perfectly... I just like my food spicy so added a bit on the second half and it was even better... but I could eat it as is, all the time, without complaining. The roll it came on was fresh, and upon unwrapping the sandwich it was not soggy, which I was happy about. I don't know what they cook the ingredients in, but they didn't taste or feel greasy... they were light and airy which I also enjoyed, but that didn't prevent the sandwich from being appropriately sized and filling. Ate the entire thing, enjoyed every bite. I'd like to get this with fries one day.. all that said, it was nice to finally be able to enjoy seitan, Freakin Vegan gets it right.... looking forward to trying the Italian Sub next, and the FV burger since that was likely the best priced vegan burger in all of Bergen County, NJ. The music playing inside was absolutely the kind of stuff we'd listen to outside of the atmosphere there, the owner was very friendly and professional in his appearance... the place was immaculate and lit well... parking was very easy, and we will be back! Tell your friends, if you're vegan or vegetarian - this place has something for everybody and I'm sure they'll have even more exciting menu options in the future. Right across the street from Wholefoods in Ridgewood, go get some 🍻

Freakin' Vegan has amazing food for all! We just went, as they are having a soft opening, and we are so glad we did. The new menu items are sooo good. We went with non-vegan friends, and they could not stop raving about the food. They already asked when we should go back to try more. It is a great takeout spot! Kurt, the owner, is so nice, and he and his lovely wife prepared our large order with great customer service and attention to detail. His recipes are amazing and we really want him to bottle his BBQ sauce for sale. They are still getting everything ready, so patience goes a long way. We are always happy to support a small local and vegan business 🌱and excited to see when they are fully open. Go check it out - It will be the best decision you make today! 💕

I wanted to like this place because I am currently not eating any meat . I got the chicken empanadas and the chicken Mac and cheese and did not like either . Both had very strong flavors - maybe it’s just my own taste preferences but if you’re not a person who isn’t picky I wouldn’t purchase . Maybe the Mac and cheese by itself would have been better . If you’re not a picky person then maybe it’s for you .

I bought the toonah sandwich, it’s lacking in flavor did not eat it. Also had the cheesesteak empanada it was dry needs more cheese. The chick’n empanada was just ok. The Buffalo Mac n cheese was dry need more cheese but it was good and the broccoli and cheese was the last one. To me flavor is lacking in general

First time coming to freakin’ vegan with my family. Oh my god! Everything that we order was freaking delicious and fresh. We ordered the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese, buffalo sliders, chicken parm, and chicken cutlet sub. I can’t say it enough everything was well cooked and delicious. I’m will definitely be back. 😊 Recommend to anyone who’s looking for a fresh and tasteful meal.

This place is now a definitely a favorite. We were iffy in between from the experience from last night from another restaurant. And we’re also in love with the one we had reviewed before but this definitely takes the cake. Meatball sandwich, mac & cheese and empanadas is definitely a win. Especially if it’s all vegan. The store owner is very friendly and caring about his customers he was very friendly to me and offered a lot of insight and other places especially because I’m a new vegan. I highly recommend this place make sure you give him his business he definitely deserves it. Don’t take my word for it come try it yourself.

I was in a pinch and found Freakin’ Vegan close by for lunch while on the road yesterday. I ordered the (Plant Based) Shredded Chicken Empanadas, a Buffalo Mac n Cheese Empanada, and a Chicken Parm Sub. I was not disappointed! After paying for my food and about to walk out, I was greeted by one of the chefs with a slice of plant based pizza to make up for the wait. After devouring the slice of pizza that tasted very traditional, I dug into the shredded empanadas which were amazing. I’m a bland eater most times so besides the hint of olive, it mainly tasted of chicken, rice and cheese. (With the right sauce, these would satisfy anybody, so order the sauce of your choice if you want full flavor). The Buffalo Mac n Cheese Empanada was next, and did not disappoint. Although the Buffalo flavor was not as strong as I anticipated, it was still delicious and had a great ratio between the crispy shell, and Mac noodles inside. The Chicken Parm was saved for dinner. I felt like I was on a cloud while eating it. As a plant based eater, I rarely get the equivalent to the real thing, but this was it! This place is a hidden gem in my book that I will return to.

Very uninspiring. Having read the reviews I was looking forward to trying this place. The Philly empanada was almost hard to eat. If there was any “cheese”, onions or peppers in there, they got by me undetected. The crust was okay but a little too dry. The mac and cheese was a huge disappointment. I had some when it first arrived and reheated it an hour later and it became an oily messy 🤮 First time in my life I think I never finished a pasta dish. There are so many ways to make inspiring vegan food and this is just throwing a bunch of oily fake ingredients together to mimic their non vegan counterparts. I would not recommend.
