Unique technology museum for ship engines. The Kromhout brand is only available in Holland. We received a very friendly welcome and were even allowed to take our dogs with us. Anyone interested in ship engines will get their money's worth here. The gentlemen on site gave us a private tour of the museum, explained a lot and answered questions. Every now and then an engine was started for demonstration purposes.

We visited this fascinating museum on a Discovery tour with Avalon Waterways, where we also learned from a wonderful artist to paint in the style of Vincent van Gogh, with still-life examples mimicking those painted by van Gogh. It was amazing to paint surrounded by these antique, mostly still operational, motors! Great experience!

What a special museum full of working engines from the old Kromhout factory. The tour we received was truly fantastic and very educational. Explanation of the origins of the city and the associated shipyards. We'll go again soon!

I have visited the museum on that day, and I discovered that conceptually , the museum, isn't very well developed , because you could the engines , but there was too little written about the social upheavals in those years

When I first moved to Amsterdam 48 years ago, I could look out from my kitchen over the Kromhout wharf. It is wonderful to visit this historic spot all these years later to look around this historic ships' wharf and feel history so close by.

My favourite museum in Amsterdam! Great display of many old and working historic engines. Brought to life by a very enthusiastic team of volunteer engineers. Still on the original Kromhout shipyard site. Only open on a Tuesday morning.

Wonderful museum with working engines from 20 century. Little gem. I didn’t know before that Kromhout was a family enterprise which designed and produced engines itself!
