Great museum and was fun to bring the Cocoa lid we found in central Australia back to the place it was made.

Small is beautiful. The history of the once world-famous Van Houten Chocolate is fun.

Very friendly and helpful ladies explaining some of the exhibits. Good overview of Weesp history and I especially liked the paintings. But the lady who was trying her English made the experience.

This is a beautiful museum, but a bit uncomfortable, "you have to make it a bit cozy yourself" ... but absolutely beautiful objects to see.

(Translated by Google) Van Houten chocolate, Weesper porcelain, beer and the Weesper Moppen, not to mention the Dutch Waterline, never made the link with Weesp. in other words you must have visited this museum..... Do it! (Original) Van Houten chocolade, Weesper porselein, bier en de Weesper Moppen en niet te vergeten de Hollandse Waterlinie nooit de link gelegd met Weesp. M.a.w. dit museum moet je dus bezocht hebben..... Doen !

In moderate or bad weather, it is worth a visit. gives the history of Orphanp and Wooden chocolate, and much more. If you are in Weesp, go there.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful town hall with a museum about Weesp and van Houten on the top floor. Two prison cells in the basement. (Original) Prachtig stadhuis met op de bovenste verdieping een museum over Weesp en van Houten. In de kelder twee gevangeniscellen.

Beautiful small local museum. Part of the building still functions as council house. In the past it used to be a dungeon too, with two cells for maximum 4 prisoners, which are visible too. When we visited there were two exhibitions of two major companies that were based in Weesp in the past: the Van Houten chocolate factory, and a porcelain factory. Especially the Van Houten story was interesting; who knew that a Dutch company had a breakthrough chocolate processing invention, and became a global front runner in marketing, advertising with American movie stars, and having billboards in the Rocky Mountains and along the Suez Canal, among others. Very interesting indeed. The personnel was rather friendly and informative. A very pleasant experience!

(Translated by Google) Weesp is known, among other things, for the porcelain, beer and cocoa of Van Houten. Book a tour if possible. Nice to combine with a walk. (Original) Weesp o. a. bekend van het porselein, bier en van de cacao van Van Houten. Boek een rondleiding indien mogelijk. Leuk om te combineren met een wandeling.

Don't expect a big museum, but few rooms of this beautiful buildings are dedicated to the history of Weesp though its most popular and famous things: porcelains, chocolate, beer, the river Vecht and few interesting paintings. Moreover you can visit the old Palace prisons. A nice historical visit in the great environment of Weep and its city center.

πŸ‘ Waiting for Uit & Meer (the burnt down restaurant next to the fort) to re-open. They were always such a great spot to park the bike and have a lunch. And hoping they get the same friendly staff back...
