Museum of art with the specific panoramic room. I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at the paintings. My main purpose was the panorama which is really well done. The personnel from the museum was really nice and caring. You have lockers to put your stuff in (for free). There’s also a small cafe inside the museum and of course a gift shop. + Museumkaart friendly

If you want to surprise someone, bring them to this museum! It's a very small, seemingly normal museum, then you suddenly walk up the stairs and see the masterpiece! The only minus point is that the collection is small. But this piece makes up for it. Museumkaart is accepted!

Museum at first seemed like any other until you actually see the artists use of panoramic visual with art and physical items. This representation is incredibly done as you climb the stairs and are presented once you complete the climb. A very unique, one of a kind experience that I found very well done.

The famous painting. Amazing but got a little dizzy so didn't spend so much time in there. The museum has free lockers and a nice gift shop.

Absolutely loved the exhibition on Suze Robertson... What an artist, and her life is an inspiration. Also, the panorama is so good, I did not expect it to be that huge, just wow.

Surreal, beautiful and unique experience. Quality equals any well known museum!! A MUST visit. Besides the panorama, there are also some other unique and beautiful works

Wasn't exactly sure what to expect however very surprised at what we did see and very pleased we were able to get in without prebooking online. Photos are not of the panoramic, otherwise it could lose the impact. Worth a visit.

I wish I could give this more than five stars. At first, I thought we had entered an art museum dedicated to a relatively obscure artist. After a few rooms of respectable seascapes and history, you climb spiral stairs to view a 360-degree painted panorama of a local beach in the 1800s. This 14.5 by 114.5 meter canvas completely surrounds the viewer with images of the ocean, boats, people, dunes, and the local fishing village. Everything gives you the illusion that you are literally a part of all around you. This is 15 euros well-spent.

Spectacular panorama painting of a typical scene at Scheveningen beach in the late 19th century. The sand mounds around the viewing gallery makes the experience all the more realistic!!

I have never seen this kind of painting, a "living" one, transposing you in another time, another age. The whole museum is cetered around the paintings of Mesdag and his wife, with a little modernity brought by the photgraphy expo. We liked this small museum very much

Absolutely beautiful! I'm from the Netherlands and never saw this before. My mother wanted to show this to us on our girls day. I am not a big fan of musea, but this was a great way to fill our day. Lots of history about mr and mrs Mesdag.

The Panorama, which is the highlight, is a masterpiece! It is almost inconceivable as to how these brilliant artists managed to capture an all round view and paint it in such continuity, detail and depth! It is a treasure in its own right and we should be grateful to the keepers for conserving such a beautiful structure which is a testimony to the genius of these artists. Do look for the binoculars on the panorama deck to peer into the fine details! A proper viewing of the panorama itself takes about 30 to 45 minutes. P.S. The other exhibit showing a German artists prowess also had a fun "flexa-gon" map that you can make while you sit there with instructions.

The panoramic experience was amazing. I have never seen anything like that before. The staff at the panorama painting was really helpful and knowledgeable. Use the binoculars to inspect the minute details. I believe it was worth my time and money. A must see experience if you have time. The whole visit can be done in 30-60 minutes.

You will firstly get to know the background of this panorama before enjoying the stunning piece of art. Worth visiting!!

No words for this place - the Panorama is so incredible and immersive , I have come twice already this spring to enjoy it ! Also the temporary exhibitions are amazing and well - fitted with the theme of the museum. Total admiration! 💖

Love the photography exhibits! Upstairs is also impressive seeing Scheveningen in old times without going there!

Fascinating realistic 360º views of Scheveningen. Well-curated and you feel transported to a beachside pavilion from more than a 100 years ago. There are lots of details in the painting and easy to get lost in thought appreciating the setup. There are no chairs in the pavilion and after awhile, it gets tiring standing for too long. Some moments, it gets stuffy when too many visitors end up in the pavilion. Overall, a small museum whose main draw is cylindrical painting. There was a collection by artist Suze Robertson when we visited. We didn't eat at the café but it was very popular and the coffee and pastries smell good.

The Panorama is well worth the entry price alone. Easily one of the most interesting artworks I've ever seen, and the setting for it works very well with the temperature, lighting, sound, and overall feel of the location.

I went to see the exhibition about Suze Robertson, but since it was my first visit to the museum, I also visited the panorama by Mesdag. The Panorama was beautiful, I just loved it. And also the paintings by Suze Robertson were marvellous. I can really recommend going to this museum.

One of the best museums in The Hague. Panaroma experience is impressive. There are a lot of information on creating panaroma and technical drawings. If you are interested in history of art, you can find information on The Hague school. You can enjoy folding maps in a DIY panaroma activity. Highly recommended!

53 years after my first viewing and it's still a mind-blowing experience with a lovely helpful guide filling in the blanks in our knowledge.

It's a really great and surprising experience. I didn't know what to expect and was not let down. You even have goggles to check the details! And with sound effects and all, it's like you're in the dunes. Too bad some of the exhibition was closed. The panorama itself is a great experience anyway. Highly recommended both for adults and kids

This is an amazing place, unlike what I expected. You really do feel as though you are in the scene. The detail in the painting is amazing. I took closeup photos of segments of the scene with a telephoto lens and it is difficult to distinguish from a photo of real people. It doesn't take long to see and enjoy this museum and it should not be skipped on any trip to The Hague.

Absolutely shocking! The panorama is quite a experience, but all the paintings here have their own life. Inspiring.

A very good museum focused on the artists that created the Panorama. Small and impressive.

Amazing! Simply too long ago since I/ we went to see it. So beautiful. It"s like a time capsule from the past, enabling us to peer into history and see in 360 degrees how life was like > 100 years ago

Wonderful panorama paint which is the main thing people want to visit. From what i read, the museum is the inherited private family museum from the paint owner. In addition with this majestic work, from the hall entrance to the panaroma, there are some paints drawn by the author and his wife. Visiting this place in the early time of reopening during relax time of pandemic hence less visitors. Have a small cafeteria. Expensive parking at the Hilton hotel

The panorama itself is worth the visit. Because it is set up perfectly we feel we are on the beach and keep looking in sll directions discovering the horizons

As expensive as Mauritshuis, despite much smaller size and smaller paiting collection, but if money is not a problem for you, then worth visiting for sure

The panorama Mesdag, housed in a unique building, starts its tour with big bold paintings of Mesdag’s fascination of the North Sea in Scheveningen. The Impressive cylindrical panoramic beach painting is 14 metres high and 120 metres in circumference. A must sea in The Hague.

This is a unique work of art and a crisp introduction to how Holland evolved in the 19th century. The reception has enough storage boxes to put your bags and coats. Your then move through a gallery that introduces you too the works of Hendrik Willem Mesdag and his wife Sientje Mesdag-van Houten and self explanatory artworks explains the impact of their work and three history of them panorama. You then move to the next floor where the display is. It is a surreal feeling, created with perfect lighting and sounds, and the ambient setup in the gazebo and the sand around it. The panorama itself contains so many stories and elements to focus on.

Beautiful and impressive. Returned here after an earlier visit and was surprised by the difference due to the different weather outside. Worth visiting at different weather conditions as the atmosphere of the painting changes depending on the weather. The painting's lighting is natural due to the daylight dome.

Detailed painting scaled to perfection helps emerge and engage visitor into historical time frame of ages gone by.

This is a very special museum. The painting itself is something of a masterpiece by Mesdag — vivid and full of detail — and the panorama really allows you to see it and be enveloped in it. It’s been tastefully restored with the old charm you’d expect of a 19th century panorama. Pictures cannot do it justice — you need to be there in the room to experience it and be immersed in the atmosphere. You almost feel as though you are at the seaside at that time. A lovely, lovely museum. Spent 30 minutes to an hour and I cannot recommend enough if you’re in The Hague. Café and toilet facilities are available.

Panorama Mesdag is a panorama by Hendrik Willem Mesdag. Housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the panorama is a cylindrical painting more than 14 meters high and about 40 meters in diameter (120 meters in circumference). From an observation gallery in the centre of the room the cylindrical perspective creates the illusion that the viewer is on a high sand dune overlooking the sea, beaches and village of Scheveningen in the late 19th century.

Impressive! The largest Panorama Picture View in Europe. I have been to a couple ones in Ukraine and Russia, but this one cought my interest completely. A tip: visit Scheveningen beach coast afterwards ;) and you will understand the huge amount of work spent on painting by Meneer Hedrik Willem Mesdag.
