I really enjoyed the museum - though I do think to properly appreciate it, you need to have an interest in ceramic making or ceramic patterns. The museum isn't too big but it has a lot of different rooms with interesting artefacts.

As the name of museum says it’s a museum about ceramics! The building it’s nice to experience because the made connection between different old buildings to have more space! For hole collection is more about the typical blue Dutch ceramics and alse Chinese ceramics but there are also a few more from other corners of world! The museum it’s not that big , I guess most of the people can visit it in a few hours!

(Translated by Google) Nice museum with a lot of variety. The exhibition about Maria Louise and Leon Keer's masterpiece were beautiful. The way of exhibiting the pottery treasures from the shipwrecks has also been liked.

(Translated by Google) Nice and varied museum with all kinds of ceramics, a section about Escher (he lived here) and the history of the royal family and the building. Everything beautifully designed and spacious.

It's worth travelling to Leeuwarden for this museum alone. There are some breathtaking pieces of art on display. You'll learn the history and importance of earthenware, stoneware, and porcelain and how it was valued, made and traded over the centuries, and you'll see spectacular examples of pieces from all over the world. Also, M. C. Escher was born in the building. Highly recommended.

A great museum with a wide range of Ceramics from all over the planet. But not only that, there's also a great Escher exhibition in the basement. Every floor and room is very accessible with ramps and lifts.

(Translated by Google) The Human after all exhibition turned out to be special. We were particularly impressed by the work of William Cobbing and Mariken Wessels. And a visit to the Escher cellar was also fun. Recommended if you have a museum year card. (Original) De expositie Human after all bleek bijzonder.

Lovely museum in a beautiful city. A must see if you're into clay! They had a nice exhibition on celebrations in Dutch households from different communities. The permanent collection is interesting as well. The staff is friendly and it has a nice tea room.

(Translated by Google) My partner and I went there for the first time. Me in front of the building, was beautiful to see, and the history of the Princessehuis. The latter was somewhat disappointing because only 1 room, the Maurits room, was furnished in "original condition", but with ceramic crockery that the princess loved. The room was very beautiful to see. As if I imagined myself at that time. I found the collection 'East to West' and made in Holland the most beautiful and the most interesting. A beautiful and long history. With very beautiful pieces. We had no time for the tea house, but it looked clean. I think it is important. There are enough parking spaces around the museum and the bus stops less than 500m away.

As a little boy, I went every Sunday to the 'kleikelder', where I learned to throw pottery. I don't know if it still exists, almost 40 years later. Not long ago, I picked up this hobby again and hope to build a small business. I am very grateful to Princessenhof!

  • 5/5 Roman T. 1 year ago on Google

I thought.. How interesting can a museum about ceramic be, but I think they did a quite good job. But I would not recommend it for kids, it is too much read and learn and do not touch

Terrific museum with an extensive collection of ceramics from all over with an emphasis of the Dutch contributions which ranged from imitating Chinese pieces to trend-setting work. The many informative display panels help understanding the techniques.

(Translated by Google) Awesome. Clear timelines, explanation of techniques. And an example of the "art of omission": not every cup and plate that could be found is crammed in between! It's a beautifully designed museum with entertaining and interesting information about everything ceramics. You're certain to gain a new appreciation for the average breakfast mug and the thousands of years of development behind it. It's definitely worth a visit, even if you initially might think it a boring subject.
