The Molen Van Sloten windmill tour was incredibly interesting. It was amazing to see the great Dutch engineering from the inside. They had multiple windmill models and one where our tour guide demonstrated how the breaks work to stop the sails. Then we were able to go out on the deck and watch a Miller use the breaks so we could walk around and see the sails up close. As you walk up the stairs to each level of the windmill don't miss the representations of Rembrandt's artworks and a short film of windmill history. We had a great time. Plus, on our weekday visit there were no crowds.

This was well worth the €8 fee, it's a shame my wife couldn't do it as the elevator was broken today. Very friendly staff and informative tour and highly recommended. Found this better than visiting Amsterdam but then never liked cities living in the country. Ladies there were excellent speaking German and English as well as their own language and maybe more.

Fantastic museum Molen Van Sloten! It's so interesting to know the mechanism of working and the history. Dutch people are so smart, they invented it in the 16th century and it works even now! Thanks to the guide, the excursion was very fascinating!

We loved our visit and learnt alot about windmills. The ladies who work at the windmill were super helpful and friendly. They gave my son a colouring sheet after the tour and directions for us to take the tram into Amsterdam central. There is a large playground with cafe nearby, perfect to spend time with kids while waiting for the next tour if you turn up without pre-booking. Highly recommended to visit!

We had never seen such an old windmill in action, and a wooden one at that, and this one was truly a joy to see in operation. It transported all of us back at least two centuries to a time when windmills such as this one were ubiquitous across the Dutch landscape.

The Molen van Stoten Kuiperijmuseum is one of the must-see places if you are staying in Amsterdam. The windmill is gorgeous and the tour guide was very kind. It was fun learning about the history of the Dutch windmill and the Netherlands in general. We got to see the mill upclose from inside and learn how it functions. Absolutely worth the time. Highly recommend to visit this windmill museum. Very interesting and educational, only €8 for the tour. If it wasn’t for windmills, the wonderful city of Amsterdam would not have existed today. I plan to come back to Amsterdam with my son, nieces and nephews from the USA.

Great place to visit and learn about the Mills and Netherlands history. The historic mill is working and volunteers manage the visit. We loved the visit, our host was so welcoming. Great experience and we were lucky to have a change of mill direction. A place to go

We were in Amsterdam for a few days and decided to rent bikes and bike to this windmill. We happened to get there almost on the hour and signed up for the guided tour. We were blown away by the tour and our guide, who was an extremely knowledgeable and personable Miller. By the end of the tour, everyone in our group had a new found appreciation for mills. I’d highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Wonderful tour! Very interesting and informative. The trip out from central Amsterdam was well worth it. The area around the windmill is picturesque as well. Very glad we took the time to visit.

Worth all 8€. Very nice guides, very friendly. I need to translate to my parents since they do not speak English and it was very easy with our guide. Shop has paintings, which are cute ( I got 4) We enjoyed the visit. I highly recommend

Visited the mill in early August, we are delighted to say how pleased we are to have had the opportunity and the pleasure to have been hosted by such enthusiastic team taking care of this treasure. We were given a truly comprehensive insight into how a mill works and how it has evolved through centuries. Knowing that my compatriots were the forerunners of this revolutionary machine makes me want to know more about it. We even discovered what the origin of the name “Rembrandt “is and how this name is also associated with the mill in general. We particularly thank our guide(although I rather call him the expert) for his comprehensive and well organized narrative on the subject. Congratulations.

One of the few remaining 18th century windmills. Worth the stop. Friendly and informative tour guide.

A wonderful experience. It is an engineering marvel to see and understand how windmills play a pivotal role in Holland's history. It is not too far from the tram stop. Would recommend for people to see a different side of Amsterdam.

Learnt a lot about how windmills work to drain the water keeping the Netherlands safe from the sea (it's actually very clever considering the ideas were 400 years ago). I highly recommend this for an eye-opener experience!

The mill is perfect and still working for real. The right place to go if you want to know how a mill works!

This was one of my favorite things I did in Amsterdam. It’s a little outside of the city, but so worth it. We had the best tour guide, though I can’t remember his name. He was a volunteer. I learned so much about not only windmills, but history as well. Would definitely recommend!

Very well informed tour. An interesting history and it’s still in use! Well worth the guided tour to see the inner workings and hear the history from a knowledgeable guide.

What a great experience! Mr. Jachan (I hope I write his name correct) did his best to ensure all our questions were answered in the most representative manner. Great tour that enlightened us not only on the different usages of the windmills back then but also on how they actually work!

Fantastic tour. The guide tour was very passionate about the history of the windmill itself. Molen Van Sloten not to be missed if visiting Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

This is the place If u like a very personal experience away from the hustle and bustle of the usual popular windmills. It’s not very crowded and when we went, it was just us and another family in the whole windmill. Tour was very reasonably priced and conductor was very friendly. Windmill itself is maintained perfectly and they have recreated the living quarters of the miller within the mill. Very cool!

Tour (held in english) was informative and learnt alot about windmills and Amsterdam too. Worth the money and good to support. To reach the place by public transport, they have signs leading you to the windmill from the tram station. It goes through a beautiful town, good for taking photos.

We loved the tour! We learned a lot from the history of the mills and how they are essential to the country back in the time. A stop that it’s a must if you are in Amsterdam.

This is a wonderful example of a working windmill (more accurately, a wind powered water pump). The tour details the history of the Netherlands and shows all the workings of the windmill. After seeing the Rijksmuseum and Rembrandt house, it was neat to see Rembrandt history connected here as well!

Very interesting tour guide also avalible giving you a good history of the mill quite reasonably priced.you must be quite fit to go right to the top of the mill as the stairs / ladders are very steep.

Interesting activity especially for people that never know about Windmill! You can see inside up to the 3rd floor and roof top view! Buy the entrance ticket to support the windmill community (organized by family) so this tourism spot keep running! - independent tourism spot -

Want to see a real windmill without leaving Amsterdam? Come here. It's a .5km short walk from Tram 1. The guided tour inside of the windmill was awesome. They explain why they built them to how they work. My wife and I loved it.

Gerzelling and informative staff. You get to walk all the way up though the inside, floor by floor learning the history and significance of windmills. Also prices for trinkets and souvenirs are really good. We visited the brewery next door for an extended treat.

Great place to visit! It's a working windmill!!! And you can go right to the top. The tickets are reasonably priced and the lady doing the tour was very nice and welcoming. She let the kids to choose a free gift from the souvenir shop and they were super happy:) Also we got the windmill on paper so the kids can colour it.

Thanks to the very friendly volunteer staff at the Molen van Sloten I learned a lot about windmills in general and about the function of this mill in particular. As I was the only guest at that time, staff decided that one of them, a very lovely lady, would give me a personal tour. I could not have wished for a better guide! Thank you very much for all your efforts!
