Absolutely fabulous Grand Dutch Food and History Tour with Marc! We loved all the food and drinks, especially as they were from local businesses we probably wouldn't have found ourselves. But even more, I appreciated Marc's deep knowledge of the history and the city. Truly fascinating to talk with him. Also enjoyed the small group size as well, which allowed us to visit some small food destinations, like a delightful cheese shop. Thanks, Marc!!

What a wonderful way to start a stay in Amsterdam. We booked our food tour with Amsterdam Food Tours for the same day we arrived in Amsterdam which we thought might be a bit ambitious with jet-lag and all. Quite the contrary! Our guide, Rudolph, kept things interesting and lively and the food tour was the perfect way to get a good sense of the great city of Amsterdam. Our journey in the Jordaan region was a mixture of fantastic food, interesting history, and access to someone who seemed to know everything and everyone in Amsterdam. The pace of the tour was leisurely without too much "lingering" and the mixture of foods was perfectly on point. We started at a pub with a bit of Dutch apple pie, then on to sample great cheeses, meats, a wide selection at a wonderful fish monger, delightful Brazilian sweets, Indonesian satays, and a lovely tasting of surprisingly good Dutch white wines. [We are from California and these Dutch wines compare quite nicely.] Rudolf, and by extension Amsterdam Food Tours, also had a long list of recommended restaurants across Amsterdam. Travel Tip: If you want to go to these restaurants make reservations a few days ahead. How busy they are provides strong testimony to how good they are. All in all, this food tour was the wonderful start to a great stay in Amsterdam.

Thijs led myself, 3 friends, and two other couples on a great tour of the Jordaan. The tour took more than 4 hours but felt like the perfect length, and we had a really fun time tasting lots of great food and drink. Apple pie, coffee/tea, herring, smoked eel, fried cod, cheese, sausage, Indonesian bites, winter (pea) soup, stroopwafels, beer/wine, bitterballen, and probably something I'm forgetting were all included on the tour. Thijs is so knowledgeable about the history of the city and was just a super fun guy to hang out with. Our group was still talking about him days later and wishing we could hang out and have another beer with him. Highly recommended.

Our guide Rudolph was great!! He was very informative and knowledgeable about the area and the food. He took us to a variety of intimate locations and we felt like we got an inside look into the history of the food in the Jordaan section of Amsterdam. We really enjoyed not only the food but the location as well. Would highly recommend.

Did the tour with Marc. I always try and make sure the first thing I do in a new city is go on a food tour. As this gives me a taste of the culture, history and most importantly cuisine of the area Today's tour was fantastic, full of good facts, historic buildings and small local businesses this was a great introduction to Amsterdam. I wish I could name a favourite stop, but everything was special in its own way. Photos lacking as I was usually too busy eating...

This was a fabulous experience! My husband and I were traveling with our 22 & 19 year old daughters and wanted them to get an authentic feel for Amsterdam. Our guide, Marc was knowledgeable, personable, and related to each of us on an individual and group level. There used to be no better way to experience a city. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

My wife and I did a private beer and food tour with Marc and had a wonderful time. He was a great guide who was able to talk knowledgeably about Amsterdam and its culture. He took us to some great places and showed us some great beers and food. A few of the places were so good we even went back to them after the tour.

I did this tour before with Rudolph and it was so good we had to book the following year with our family and friends. I’m sure all guides are good, but if you’re lucky enough to get Rudolph he will show you an amazing time full of wonderful food, drinks, history and great sense of humor. I HIGHLY recommend this tour and can’t wait to do it again (hopefully with Rudolph)!

Without doubt the best part of our weekend break. Not only was it hugely entertaining and informative, but Thijs and the food producers he introduced us to clearly have a passion for Amsterdam, the Jordaan district and its food. The tour was well paced and with a good balance of history and food tasting. Lots of opportunities to ask questions - Thijs was very knowledgeable. There was a wide range of gourmet delights on route - herring, bittenballen, Indonesian treats, apple pie, brigadeiro - something to suit everyones tastes. We also aded on a boat tour which was the icing on the cake. Took the tour to over five hours but worth it. Beautiful restored old wooden cruiser that took us around the canals with a quick stop for bittenballen on the way, washed down with crisp white wine. Perfect. Thijs had a lovely way of making us feel less like tourists and more like his personal guests. Thanks once again for a truly memorable tour!

The Amsterdam Food Tour was amazing! Thijs was our guide and very knowledgeable about the food, local area, the people that make the food, ethnic and cultural influences, and the story that combines it all together. I loved that all the food we ate was from family and local businesses. I have done food tours in other cities and this one is not one of the best, but the very BEST! Need recommendations on local eateries, Thijs was always willing to help. I would very highly recommend this tour.

This was by far the best food tour I have been on! There are so many unique places included and so much food- well worth the price! We had cheeses, drinks, chocolate, Indonesian food, apple pie, and meats. By the end of the day you won't need to eat dinner! I highly recommend this tour! Bo, our guide, was fantastic and great at sharing the history of Amsterdam and the history/processes of each food and store.

Our guide Mark was excellent. His deep knowledge of the history of Holland and Amsterdam in particular was top notch. Sharing his knowledge of Amsterdam from its early days of it being a commercial power in merchant trade and how this influenced the cuisine and culture of Amsterdam to this day. We visited small shops with expertise in traditional local foods. From apple pie made with apples only found in Amsterdam to an excellent cheese shop whose cheese master recently was awarded the world gold medal. I cannot more highly recommend this tour if you are both a foodie and history buff as me :)

We loved this tour so much. We came as a family of three including a young teenager and it was wonderful for all of us. Thijs, the founder, was our guide, and he was delightful. So friendly and knowledgeable. The food was delicious, and the discussion of history and local information was always interesting. I highly recommend Amsterdam Food Tours!

A wonderful tour tasting the best of Dutch food. Thijs is a superb guide with lots of stories and insights into the Amsterdam food scene. The restaurants/shops we visited were so interesting - and we tasted many things we wouldn't otherwise have tried. The small group makes it very flexible - easy to have conversations and ask questions. A great visit - highly recommended!!!

My wife and I booked the Jordaan Dutch Food Tour, we had a great time not only did we enjoy the food and wine Rudolph’s extensive knowledge of Amsterdam made the experience very interesting, he also gave us an insight into Dutch family life over the Christmas period. A lovely man with a great sense of humour, we have a group of friends coming to Amsterdam in the summer we told them they must book a tour with Rudolph, we will also be back next year and will be booking a tour with Rudolph’ Kind regards Gina & Mick Henderson

Our guide was Marc and he was absolutely phenomenal! We always do a food tour while on vacation and this is the best one we have taken and was a highlight to our trip. Marc was a great guide and shared so much about the history of the country and Amsterdam. The food spots were amazing and don’t worry if you are gluten free they have you covered with yummy treats too! We were not rushed at all and actually the last spot we just hung out with our group and had a few more drinks and snacks! Such a great day

I’m lucky enough to have been to Amsterdam several times over the years, this tour with Rudolph is one of the best experiences Ive ever had here. Rudolph is an amazing tour guide sharing the history of Amsterdam with great personality and sense of humor. It’s hard to pick a favorite food spot as they were all amazing! Excited to bring my family and friends on this tour next time. I highly recommend you do the same.

Enjoyable 4 hours exploring the Joordaan area of Amsterdam. Quality of food was really great and plentiful. Rudolph is a good guy and full of knowledge and stories about the area. Although we live in Netherlands, the experience was still unique, informative and enjoyable. Thank you Paul & Chloe

Excellent food and information tour - several stops in the Jordan area of Amsterdam. The guide was excellent, incredibly knowledgeable about Amsterdam and restaurants. My wife and I picked restaurants from Amsterdam Food Tours list after the tour and were never disappointed. Our only regret was not doing this tour sooner during our stay in Amsterdam.

Our guide Rudolph took us on a great tour of food and drinks in Amsterdam. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and the culture around the types of food and drink in the neighborhood. And we had a great variety of different food and drink and he was very entertaining and answered all her questions about the city and the history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour while you’re in Amsterdam.

The tour was absolutely wonderful! Thijs was fabulous- so knowledgeable, friendly, and funny! And THE FOOD! Fabulous the whole time. Come hungry because you will eat (and drink) a lot. A wonderful, diverse mix of traditional Dutch foods- sweet and savory. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Well worth the money and a great way to see the city!

A delightful way to spend an afternoon and learn lots about Amsterdam. Thijs was a wonderful guide taking us around his neighborhood, sharing lots of facts, history, observations and great stories about Amsterdam, its people, its food and sense of community. The food places he took us to were very welcoming and tasty! He immediately created a sense of fun and connectedness for the whole tour group which made it extremely enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour for visitors to Amsterdam. Robin and Ginny Jaquith

The low score is not a mistake. I've register my husband and brother-in-law for your tour as a gift. and that what they told my: The guide came late to the meeting point, the tour was not well-paced, they left a little disappointed

A really good and cosy experience. Many tastings, all of super quality. We went with our local guide Rudolph, who was very friendly and important in these times - he took great care of all COVID19 restrictions.

A great food tour in the beautiful Jordaan. The most traditional food and beverages, while you hear about the story of the city. Thijs is a great tour guide he knows a lot about the history of the city and the origins of traditional food.

We took an Amsterdam Food Tours XL Tour on Monday and really enjoyed the experience. We were taken to the most beautiful corners of the Jordaan district for four hours. We enjoyed around ten different local specialties and received exciting information about the history of Amsterdam and, above all, the Jordaan. The specialties were all very unusual and delicious, the tour was never boring, but entertaining, interesting and friendly. We highly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to experience Amsterdam in a different way.

110% glad we did this. We are adventurous people so I wasn't sure how valuable the food tour would be. I was wonderfully rewarded in many ways. We went several places I wouldn't have thought to go, we walked right in to reserved tables with food ready for us at each location, and we got to hear the history and cultural background of each food and drink we tasted. (All things that you won't get if you take yourself around on a food tour.) Other non-food things I loved: Small group of just 8 people. Our guide Thijs was upbeat and jovial, nice to everyone on tour (especially my ten year old) and answered every question with kindness no matter how off-the-wall. He made sure each of us was involved and comfortable. On a four hour tour we were stopped 3 or 4 times on the street by people saying hello and joking with Thijs, and every shopkeeper seemed genuinely happy to see him (and us), so it seems to me he is well liked and respected around town which was a nice thing to think about our fearless leader. He was quite thoroughly knowledgeable about Dutch history and tied a lot of things together for us. We learned a few non-food related tidbits. For example, we pulled up a cup of water from the canal and heard about canal history and water cleanliness. Overall we were very well informed, fed and watered (read: fat and happy) and I feel we definitely got our money's worth. Thank you, Thijs, for such a fabulous first day in Amsterdam. It was a perfect orientation tour. PS for Thijs: We did go swimming next day in the Amstel where you recommended! Unforgettable.

Our group of 12 took a food tour with Amsterdam Food Tours in in September of 2021. It was beyond amazing. Thijs , the owner of the company was wonderful. In addition to the food tour Thijs arranged for our group a private dinner cruise on the canals, a walking tour of Amsterdam, a tour guide for the Rijks Museum and Jewish / WWII tour prior to our entering the Anne Frank Museum. He also made some reservations for us at some excellent restaurants which he had recommended. I cannot say enough good things about Thijs and his Company.

This was the best food tour I have ever been on. The man who runs these tours is definitely in the right business. He has small groups and makes you feel like it’s one on one. He is genuine and takes an interest in each and every person on his tour. We brought our small children and he was AMAZING at accommodating us. He even watched them during the wine tasting taking them next door to get ice cream. I cannot recommend this tour enough especially for those with families who are reluctant to take food tours. This one will not disappoint!

👍 Beautiful views, good food, very nice personnel. On the other hand, it felt very crowded (4-seat tables on a 84-people boat) and noisy. Not recommended for a romantic night out, but interesting as a different perspective on a very beautiful city.
