Important: Reserve a table! Although we managed to get a spot on Saturday without a reservation (We came 10 or 15min after the opening time and got the last available table. We were very lucky.) Love their logo, the decor is minimalistic but cosy, and the pictures on the wall are a nice touch (I even wanted to buy one haha) Don't leave without trying the "Unadon" (amazing eel that we haven't found in any other place we had tried before in Italy). And the panna cotta was to die for - perfect dessert! When you order the lunch dish, you get rice with fish/curry/etc. and three side dishes (including a miso soup). I was really pleasantly surprised by the onigiri with plum. The staff was really friendly and helpful. They have also a small shop inside, where you can buy some food, teas, fans and a Japanese packing cloth.

Una Don comes with a miso soup and two veggie sides. The whole thing was very delicious and fullfilling. Also got surimi of fish and veggies. That was nice but not much special for me. Paid 28 euros for both. The staff is very nice. Would love to visit again

Nice place with very kind people. The only downside (for me) is that most of the menu is very specific: you won't find the most famous Japanese dishes here, but more unusual and traditional ones. It's nice if you go with the idea of trying new stuff, but in my case I missed the Japanese food that I already knew of and the menu didn't have photos nor romaji. Apart from that, overall it was good.

美味しかった 🥩🍜🍻 One of the best Japanese restaurants in the middle of Milan. Very popular for lunch and takeaway onigiri (rice balls). Also for the design, 5 stars, I felt like I was back home in Japan 🇯🇵

Probably the best Japanese food in the city that doesn't involve sushi: everyone can just fall in love with this beautiful, cozy place with great service and exquisite, really exotic, traditional Japanese dishes. A must try.

A relatively expensive place, for those who truly understand Japanese cuisine. No sushi, no rolls. I don’t understand it, so I would rather go to an all you can eat Japanese restaurant.

You need to eat here! The Japanese Lombardy inspired fusion hits such perfect flavor notes. Right away you'll be asked if you have reservations. If not you'll likely be seated anyway. The service is prompt, caring, and not over bearing - plus they speak English and Japanese. The fried chicken was delicious. Anyone should be happy to try such a flavor packed dish, especially when it stays crisp covered in tartar sauce. The eggplant and potato salad appetizers are smooth and delicate. So far I haven't tried a bad menu item. You should really take a break from pizza and risotto to give this establishment a taste.

Good authentic and authentic Japanese meal, but can be better. We ordered two lunch meals, one with the chicken katsu and another with the beef curry. The former tasted a bit weird and felt undercooked in terms of texture. The beef curry was good and so was the miso soup. They also have a Japanese style potato salad on the menu which is delicious and highly recommended. Although the bento-like concept is unique, I wouldn’t go back if I was visiting Milan, as I think there’s far better restaurants to try (Japanese and otherwise).

Authentic Japanese food.. In a Italian city like Milan where is easier to eat sushi than pizza, Gastronomia Yamamoto offers traditional home recipes from Japanese tradition. Unaghi don very good.

Japanese food in Milan is SO delicious. After your pasta, definitely come here for some umami food. Everything felt light and not heavy but with flavor.

Really good food and impeccable service, super warm welcome from all of the staff members. Cannot recommend enough 💕 The lunch sets are on the smaller side, as per Japanese customs, so if you have a bigger appetite I'd suggest ordering one of their lovely appetizers too 🌱

My friend got a unagi don (recommended) I got a curry raisu The eel was very tasty (even for someone who doesn’t usually eat fish) The curry was a bit thinner than what I am used to, but still tasted ok The side cabbage salad was a bit too salty Eggplant and zucchini was ok Maybe a little less salt in the miso soup Also, if the rice itself was higher quality, I think the overall texture of the dishes would be great Service was very fast btw (food came out faster than McDonald’s 🤣) Basically, food was ok for Japanese home style cooking. Service was fast. Attentive and informative staff. I’m only giving 4 stars because the food did not exceed or meet my expectations. All in all, it’s not a bad place to come for home style Japanese food

My first traditional Japanese cuisine experience. After eating Japanese food for years now I knew this was different immediately Reservations are required here! I watched the calendar closely to make a reservation. Loved having lunch here! The food was amazing!

Super delicious Japanese restaurant with amazing service. I would definitely recommend the Unadon which is eel on rice. Make sure to book a reservation before going because it is very popular.

This is an incredible place if you want to feel a little bit of Japan. The personal are super nice and open to explain the menu, the food is really something special.

The menu is very limited. Also, the menu changes every while as some of the photos posted in Google reviews of dishes, were not available anymore. And basic dishes like eda mame or a ramen weren’t available. The staff head was very welcoming, however, the rest of the staff seemed more formal / pushy, which felt weird. It’s also a bit overpriced.

I'm more into Japanese home cooking than sushi, lucky for me home style cooking is this restaurant's specialty. Had one of the best Japanese meals I've had outside Japan.

I must say, if you’re ever in Milan and fancy a traditional Japanese home cooked and heart warming food, this is the place to go! The menu has a simple selection of dishes to choose from and the Unagidon we had was so delicious. It was served with miso and some little sides which were seasoned very well. We also ordered the Japanese potato salad and Tuna Onigiri which were both amazing. I’m from Japan myself and everything was all made authentically! Well done Aya!!

Lovely space, very kind and attentive staff and amazing food! Highly recommend coming here if you are in milan and want to try something other than italian food, you won’t regret it!

Delicious and surprisingly authentic Japanese in the heart of Milan! Don’t skip the potato salad. For entrees, we shared a curry and fried chicken dish. Both were excellent, but the portion size was a bit small. Service was friendly but did feel a little rushed. That said, I’d definitely come back and would recommend highly to others.

Food was very mediocre and expensive. Standard is miles away from the hype it receives. Service was ok

Definitely reserve a table, and be on time as they are busy! Very kind service and delicious eel rice. I am from Asia, and this is actually one of the most tender eel donburi I've had. Beautiful, clean and minimal ambience. Highly recommend!!

I’ve lived in Japan for almost 4 years and it was a pleasure to come back and find some authentic food in Milan. The place is simple, yet charming and the staff is incredibly nice. ありがとうございました(^ν^)

Absolutely fantastic ! We had a very fine lunch, decoration is great, and service is really nice. Quite difficult to find a fine Japanese restaurant in Europe as there are many average ones, just providing some « classics » with poor level of originality. Here you ll have a very diverse menu, with some great fusion pieces, large choice of drinks. Very cool place.

For me, it's the best Japanese food near Duomo. It's a very lovely and cozy place for authentic Japanese Mamma's food! The staff is super professional and friendly. I feel like in a small resturant in Tokyo. Don't forget to make a reservation before come here!

We had an incredible dinner here. We asked the waiter for an english menu, they had non but he was really friendly and explained almost the whole menu to us. We are really glad we found this gem and would be happy to visit again.

Excellent Japanese food in the center of Milan! My husband and I didn't book in advance; we were just lucky because they had a couple of tables available when we arrived. By the time we left the restaurant, there was a queue outside. The staff and manager are very friendly and professional, the interior was unassuming but cozy, and the big winner is the food!!! I was so happy we stumbled upon Yamamoto. We will definitely come back and would recommend to friends. ❤️

Real authentic japanese food, this is not a fusion, this is original. Very tasty and high quality. Prices are ok, not so expensive. Good range of different food in the menu. Friendly staff. Covid regulations are totally respected, cozy environment. I will come back for sure
