The WORST hostel ever!!! 50$ of deposit, the kitchen smell bad and you have to buy your own dishes because they don't give to you nothing for cook, they catch you with the excuse of the job, and it's true they give to you jobs for less than the minimum wage ( I worked for grape picking for 2$ per bucket and in one day I won 40$, crazy! Another time I did olives picking for 2$ per bucket and you need half hour just for full one, so you can make max 4$ per hour...all without win the 88 days for the second year visa).Cheaters and slavers. People stay safe and don't go there!

Awful! All they care about is money. There are more people than jobs but as long as all their beds are full they don't care. I was strung a long for 6 weeks with the promise of work and did 8 days the whole time i was there. When I did work I was forced to pay 10 dollars per person for petrol even if it is only a 5 minute trip up the road and not allowed to travel in another backpackers car if they offered. If you are lucky enough to get a job you are completely disposable to the farmers so people would get fired for no reason and just replaced the next day by another backpacker. If you have a spare 6 months you might be able to get all our farm work done and rinse all our funds in the process.

This is not somewhere you want to go. Its good for a party but that's about it. Its infested with bed bugs. We had to spray our room ourselves and when we did the bed bugs were coming out the cracks between the walls and the ceiling. My roommate was covered in hundreds of bites, even the pharmacist recommended seeing a doctor and reporting it to the health department. In the last 2 weeks I was there they only gave me 1 day of work. I was even nice enough to give them the proper notice of my departure so I would receive the key deposit back and because of this notice they did not give me any work that week. Also, keep in mind, I was never fired from garlic, I was never late waking up for work, and I never called in sick. The people who did get fired had a new job the next day. Maybe getting fired was the way to go. The current owner will lure you there saying "there is lots of work, garlic is working 6 days a week", but it's all in how she words it. Yes garlic runs 6 days a week but they have double the amount of backpackers on garlic than they need. So they will give you a few days of work then swap it around so everyone is getting a few days.... just enough to keep you happy and paying the rent. In March 2018, new ownership will be finalized. The new owners are the same people supervising/looking after the place now. They have been here for years so nothing will change for the better.

I feel this place deserves a fair review... Let me start by saying this is not a luxury hostel, this is a backpackers hostel. Not to say that backpacker hostels cannot be clean and have good amenities but this one really teeters on the edge of acceptability if I'm being honest. However, it provided me with all I needed to complete my farm work I.E a bed, a shower, the work itself and of course friends to get your through the darker days (which will occur). The complaints about the owners are fair to a certain extent. I knew lots of people who had trouble finding work when they arrived but mainly due to their picky nature and unwillingness to try all jobs and giving up after a couple of days/weeks. This deters the owners from giving them anywhere near first choice for upcoming jobs. Basically, you stay on the owner's good side, they will help you out. Seeing complaints about the caretakers/cleaners at Oasis boils my blood. Bob, Lisa and some rogue cleaner who's name I cannot remember do the best with the very VERY little they're given and always greet you with a smile. To say this hostel is a "SCAM" is completely unfair. If you're willing to work, not overly freaked out by dirt/mold, the occasional multi legged creature appearing in your bedroom and open minded about the whole experience this is a great place. Overall I would say Oasis deserves a solid 2.5 stars but unfortunately the google machine allows only full stars so I've given it a 3. Give it a try!

The hostel experience was excellent because of the people I met. I would improve things regarding comfort but that's okay. Eva has a lot of work. Julie always attentive and willing to help. It would also be nice to feel a little more humanity and not so much business when it comes to interacting with guests.

Perfect working hostel if you want to do your farm days! The kitchen is cleaned several times per day, there are dormitory but also private rooms. The staff is very friendly, helpful and I was quickly able to work in a farm thanks to them. I highly recommend this hostel!

I had a brilliant stay here! Eva was amazing at finding me work and has got a lot of contacts for work and all hourly! Julie who’s always around the hostel is so helpful and a lovely person! Proper credit to the hostel! Compared to a previous hostel I stayed at in mildura this was the best move I made to actually complete my days and not waste time! The hostel it’s self was not bad, hostel is a hostel! I’d recommend anyone to stay here :)

my worst experience in whole Australia. The promise me jobs and they didn't keep their words. When I want to leave the hostel because i searched otherwise a job the keeping my bond because they said I have it say them 10 days befor. Just Scam for Backpacker. They take advantage from young people who come alone from other Countries and don't know the rules from australia. Be careful from Eva !

A place you can call home! Did my farm days in three months, and everyday was like staying in family! Big kitchen where you can cook and than have meal with friends all together! Pool to refresh you after work, close to supermarkets! Rooms are all different, I was in a 4 bed one and had the best time with my roomies! Eva and Vince are always there to help you finding cash in hand jobs and good paid farm jobs Highly recommended, will come back next year as well! Penny
