Autumn Lake Healthcare at Pikesville

Nursing home

😠 I was totally disappointed with the subacute therapy unit. My husband was transferred here from the hospital. I was unable to receive much info. Most phone calls go to voice mail, some call back. The nurses said he was "fine". The therapists said they were working on him. His room had no phone. Aft... People often mention staff, care, nursing, facility, loved, good, rehab, great, family, experience,

I was totally disappointed with the subacute therapy unit. My husband was transferred here from the hospital. I was unable to receive much info. Most phone calls go to voice mail, some call back. The nurses said he was "fine". The therapists said they were working on him. His room had no phone. After a week he developed covid-19. When returned to a regular room, he had a roommate that moaned all the time. When he came home he was almost a vegetable. Since then he eats, can get up, is very responsive and happy. His personal belongings we're lost.

Definitely not a good place to leave your loved one. To begin with, They NEVER answered the phone at the nurses station. And when they did , it was always with an attitude . The staff whenever there is staff available, just not friendly. They barely would speak to you when you were able to go there to visit. Dementia patients required a lot of love , compassion and time . They led me to believe initially that they cared BUT I was sadly mistaken. Also , The place is not clean at all . Could use a deep cleaning and some paint along with a splash of love from the staff. Also, if your loved one was difficult then they didn’t really want to bother with them and you could tell . Please don’t send your loved one to this place. It will be a mistake .

Very poor care given to my loved one. Poor communication from staff regarding changes in care and medical needs. I was rarely able to get a staff member on the phone to discuss care concerns but when I did generally there was attitude. I would absolutely not recommend placing your loved one here for care. They were more than happy to collect all the pension and social security money, but what did we get in return? Care that left my loved one in ashes in a box and my family grieving. PLEASE, if you have any control at all about where your loved goes, send them anywhere but here.

This place is the worst place to ever take your loved ones. My mom was here for rehab for her legs, and they did nothing. Well let's not say nothing, they killed her. They let her lay there and let her lungs fill with fluid for months. They let the skin on her legs turn black and it spreaded up her leg. They let her suffer day after day and did nothing but take her money. She was a dollar sign to this place. It's not fair that I left a person there and got back boxes.😭😭😭😭

The Physical Therapy staff were without a doubt superb. They go beyond the mile. I specifically liked their constant concern for my well being. Without their fault they are in desperate need of updated equipment. They lack certain tools of the trade to make their job more proficient. I hope management takes a serious look at this problem. As for the nursing at the center started out on a rocky start. It required additional hospitalized attention. The end of my stay with the exceptionally experience nursing from one nurse made my stay a pleasant one. The kitchen is a different color horse. And sometimes I think that's was what they served. There was absolutely no connection with the patients and their medical needs. For instance Salisbury Steak was a hamburger patty with brown gravy. The food was always too salty. I met with the CEO for all the facilities for Autumn Lake. He mentioned some changes. I have yet to see them. I'm leaving here soon but hope management that be will critically consider these changes to the betterment of everyone.

My mom has been a resident at this facility for the past 5 years. Everyone has been warm and welcoming. They treat us with respect and care and have kept me informed every step of the way. This new stage of life was difficult to accept but the staff at Autumn Lake has helped my family to feel confident that our loved one is being well taken care of.

My mother was placed in Autumn Lake by the hospital that treated her. She needed rehabilitation to help her walk without assistance. I am so grateful for MS Judy her case manager who kept me informed of her process regularly. Judy is knowledgeable and professional and a delight everytime when she called me with the updates. One time I had conference call with everyone involved with her care.Thank you Judy.

I would give it ZERO stars if I could. My grandfather was in this facility for at least two months and half of the time he was in the hospital because of neglect. The staff has broken his glasses, refused to feed him since he couldn't do it himself. He was dehydrated and had kidney failure because they weren't giving him water either. He had bruises all over his face "from a fall" but he cannot move without assistance. He was very malnourished. Anytime he would see a nurse that hurt him, he would have a panic attack and cling to my grandmother. We tried to make a report while he was still there and they retaliated, refusing to investigate the staff. They misdiagnosed him with dementia but he has a very good memory and was able to tell me everything that happened and what day it happened. I am glad he is in a better home because now I can report this place. Additionally, as of today, February 28, 2022 ... I spoke with Ashley in HR who was very helpful, leading me to an administrator, Aaron, to file my complaint with him. Apparently my complaint is irrelevant because my grandfather isn't at the facility anymore, even though I told him that every time my family made a complaint, the staff retaliated. I felt rushed off the phone and pushed away and told it would be investigated, but it didn't seem sincere. I am really fed up with this location and will escalate this issue to higher authorities since no one is taking this matter seriously.

My mother gets excellent care from the staff and medical team. They are on top of her health and we have great relations with the team, including activities department, David, Colette, social work-Judy, Donna, and Detia to name a few!

Was very pleased with my family’s experience. Difficult sending someone you love to a facility when you can’t visit but staff was very good at giving us updates and made me feel involved. Private room made us feel more comfortable sending our family there. Rehab did wonders and nursing was very caring. Would send family there again if needed.

Whoever is in charge of preparing meals for the patient at this Autumn Lake doesn’t put a lot of care into making sure the meals are hot when they arrive to the patient rooms nor does these meal look or taste appetizing. I am a true believe if you will not eat the meal yourself don’t feed it to other people. I have personally warmed patients food because it arrived to them cold which is unacceptable.Remember treat people how you or your family members want to be treated while being cared for in a nursing facility, this goes for the entire staff. Fix it! It appears that this facility needs a directors in each areas that will require there employees to provide loving care to all that’s living here.

Signs up everywhere that say "in covid outbreak " but haven't let my father know or us. My father is immune comprised. And the place is totally run down and your feet stick to the floors.

My mom was a patient here for short term rehabilitation and by far the best experience possible! From meeting the well dress Liaison that reassure me that I was making the right decision and that he was a phone call away. Then you have the staff in the facility that was nothing but good. From admissions to activities department. The nursing team along with the rehab department by far outstanding!!

My experience has been well. My mother entered the facility for sub, acute rehab in April 2023. The care was great. The staff were great. The rooms were spacious and clean. When my mom transferred over to long term, nursing care, there were a few hiccups. Naturally, the treatment isn’t the same. However, it has improved greatly since my mom has been placed in hospice care. She has additional nurses and a physician. I receive more frequent calls about how she is doing.

Autumn lake Pikeville made me feel love, comfortable and at home. The nursing and rehab department did a outstanding job. The food was also good. I would love to come back and help with activities. Thanks you all!
