We came to this place for lunch on Saturday. Overton square area was not much crowded, maybe because it was a rainy day. The restaurant was decently packed and the service was swift. We did not try any appetiser or drink. In the main course the Cuban sandwich was a decent one, however I liked the Mexican street style corn as a side even more. I asked them to serve that without the cheese on top though. The portion size was fine. The corn was fresh, juicy, lemony and spicy. Overall it was filling and tasty. I would definitely go back at least to try their table side guacamole.

Great experience. The guacamole is amazing. The service and atmosphere are good. The sides are perfection, recommend all of them. The tacos aren't my favorite even though they all sound so good. Drinks are on point. Overall good every time I visit, recommend.

This was my first visit and I'll be darned if I take forever to go back. The queso appetizer is too spicy for me but Husband loved it! I did love those chips though. I had a pear margarita that was deliciously on point and refreshing. The street tacos are very good, but small, so order more than one if hungry, preferably with their fries. So good!

The food was very tasty but the drinks and cocktails were a little expensive. Overall a good combination of food and vibe. I loved the street fried corn and salmon with Brussels sprouts.

Babalu makes my belly dance. Dishes so delicious, it puts my taste buds in a trance. I went out with my honey for a little romance..... I said we're going to a place that's not very far. Surprise! Surprise! It's a tapas bar..... He said you grab some singles and I'll crank the car!

Always a good time at Babalu. They have margarita specials every day of the week. Great hang out spot. My happy place.

What a cool and bright spot to celebrate after graduation. Our party of 8 couldn’t be seated immediately so we waited at the bar which was a good start to the experience. They had a good selection of local beer on tap, the 201 Hoplar IPA (my favorite) was a perfect balance of hops and fruit. Others in the party liked the sangria flights, mixed drinks, and the custom frozen margaritas. When we were seated we started with the table side guacamole, made to perfection and possibly the best tasting guacamole I have ever had, witness the destroyed bowl below. Our entrees were all extremely tasty. The Cubano sandwich was full of meat the star being the pork belly and the braised short rib grilled cheese was a flavorful blend of meat, cheese, and aioli. Our only complaint was the grilled sandwiches came out under or over cooked cooked, thus the 4 stars. Everything else from the breakfast burrito to the street taco had unique flavor profiles and were executed very well. Another big hit was the Brussel sprouts, crispy and drenched in a wonderful sweet glaze. Everybody, even the non sprout likers, enjoyed the taste. Our server who had many tables was extremely helpful with the menu selections and attentive our table’s needs. She did an excellent job. I will revisit the ratings next time I eat there. It could be 5 stars except for the sandwiches. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend coming here, suggest calling ahead for a table though because it was packed but worth the 20-30 minute wait. The other option is to sit at the bar. Either seem good. The duck tacos were simple and yet unique and still delicious. The Cinnamon Bread Pudding stole the show for me. Coming back here soon for more

I’ve been countless times because Babalu never fails me. Food and drinks always hit! I love sitting at the bar because bartenders are so personable and attentive. The table side guacamole is a must and the black bean burger with the chimichurri is delicious.

First time here! Not impressed! Came for late lunch birthday celebration! Tons of staff present, yet we waited for service and was assigned to a table of a staff who had already left for the day! Weird Although the food was good, the prices are way too much for the size of the tacos, sides and burgers. The drinks were good, so it made up for it! Considering this location wasn’t packed, I would’ve expected the floors, tables and chairs to have been clean… it wasn’t 😬 Better customer service, better prices and a cleaner establishment would’ve made our visit 5 star ⭐️

Wonderful food! The Guacamole is amazing and made fresh at your table. Perfect atmosphere. Not too pricey. And an informed server that recommended the BEST margarita I've ever had. Its a Blood Orange Margarita! To die for! But ask for sugar rim instead of salt. Yummy!

Came here after it being recommended by a few people. Started with the beef short rib rolls, as well as the tableside guacamole. Both were really good. Actually prepared at the table within a couple of minutes. Next, I had the fish taco and the cuban sandwich. Both were really good and full of flavor. For drinks, we had a sangria & the spicy margarita. Well made drinks without question. Parking is in the deck behind the restaurant.

Rock solid! This place is always a treat. We grabbed some drinks and guacamole today while enjoying a festival in Overton Square and it was delicious as usual. Great service and fun atmosphere made for a great experience. You’ve got to get by and try this place.

My first time experiencing BABALU was great! We came in as a party of 12 people. We had a great sever! She was very patient and willing to explain the menu. It really wasn't much on the menu that I eat but I decided to pick the Rib rolls....OMGGG...They was sooo freaking good, I was recommending them to all the people that was sitting at the table with me. Food came out out hot !! I can't remember the name of my wine lol but it was good as well! Atmosphere wasn't to noisy & the place was very clean. I will be back soon!

45 minute wait—to be expected on a Sunday afternoon. Finally got seated and we didn’t have menus for about 10 minutes. Out of major drink options so we had water and sweet tea. Food arrived within 15 minutes. Blackened salmon was completely raw on the inside, roasted Brussels sprouts were delicious. Also ordered rice and beans that came halfway through my meal. Sent the salmon back. 10 minutes later the server brought me a new salmon, but no brussel sprouts. Mind you. I had barely touched the brussel sprouts. The server suggested I speak with a manager which I didn’t request. The manager Carrie came very quickly, was very apologetic and brought out the brussel sprouts. The manager definitely returned my experience around and her customer service was amazing! The server was not the most concerned and the food overall (from what I ate) was mediocre.

I didn't get pics of the BabaBurger. It was SOOOO GOOD!!! Order it first. OK Don't. Order the made-at-table Guac first. They kick it up with sun-dried tomatoes. ☆SMACK☆ Then order the burger. Great lunch prices . Those are lettuce wrapped tacos. KETO accommodation and unbelievable. A Beef-Rib and Smoked Pork-Belly taco. WoW !!! No cilantro for me Por fa-vor. Loved this restaurant.

Pretty good, I had a selection of tacos and they were not as hot (temperature) as I would have liked. The melted cheese and guacamole appetizers were delicious.

Could be a great place but the night we went nothing seem to be going well. It took about 10 minutes before we got a server. They were out of several things on the menu, and even worst was our food was delivered at different times. We had people finished eating before all the food was brought out. Last the food was only OK. So I will probably not return with the experience we had.

Alex was our waiter. He was the best waiter I have had in a long time. He was kind and helpful. I was debating on a couple tacos, he recommended the pork belly, and he was right. It was delicious. It had many flavors that came together perfectly. The fresh guacamole and chips were also delicious. The bread pudding was also excellent. All food is made fresh. The atmosphere was great, very clean, and the other workers we encountered were also very kind. Will visit again!!

This was our first and last time going to Babalu. The food was cold. It is overpriced to start with but then receive cold food. Never received all the food I ordered and payed for. We had a terrible experience.

Great place for a different type of meal. We enjoy the small plates to share. The chocolate fondue was a nice change for dessert. Only thing I didn't enjoy was the cleaning products right next to where we were eating. I understand the necessity especially during this time, but it takes away from the experience to have cleaning products and cleaning rags right next to the table while you eat. Maybe hide them under a table ?

Food was phenomenal! Absolutely delicious. We will be back for the lamb sliders, guacamole and red fish! The drinks were great as well. A little pricey but worth it. The atmosphere was clean but music was so loud it was hard to visit. Also our waitress was not very attentive. Maybe sge had too many tables. She was nice but we were there almost three hours. I would recommend this place because it was really delicious. Just don't go if you are in a hurry. Thanks!

Decide to come here for a small bite to eat and drinks. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in. Our server was friendly and very attentive. I got the Beef Short Ribs Roll and a Lemon Berry Sour cocktail to drink. They both were good but my drink was weak. So I ordered a couple of rounds of Tequila shots to make up for the cocktail. Nice place plan on coming back and trying something else on the menu besides appetizers.

Excellent customer service. Food was pretty good. First time getting a Cuban sandwich while not in Florida. It was pretty good. The short ribs egg roll wraps were also good. Definitely recommend.

Food and service were so great we went twice. Great place to catch a game or just dinner with drinks. Tried several cocktails and all tasted great. Favorite was the mini mule. Margaritas were strong. DJ and Chrisa gave us excellent service. The grits taste amazing. It's a bit of southern and Mexican fusion.

The good here is very good. I've never had anything bad. The portion sizes seem maybe a little smaller than at other restaurants BUT that's okay because I'm then able to finish the whole thing so I don't need a to go box. Another thing that sends a little odd is that the dishes seem to be missing something. I recently got crab cake Benedict and expected it, like most Benedicts, to come on an English muffin-or some kind of bread-but it was just the crab cakes with a salsa-like topping and poached egg. Delicious, but was it really a Benedict? Also, the sandwiches don't seem to come with fries. Again, okay, but odd. They also have maybe the best bloody Mary in town. Will definitely return! Their short rib grilled cheese is to die for.

Popular local spot in Memphis. Heard about in many times so I figured I'd give it a try. I was highly satisfied with the service and the guacamole made fresh at the table. A must get. The drinks were delicious as well. I tried four different tacos and I wasn't too fond of any of them but my girlfriend did for what it's worth. I would definitely go for drinks and to hang out but would try my luck with a different menu item next time. Will be back!

Our experience at Babalu was mixed. I ordered some delicious tacos, which I liked. The tacos are have different main ingredients, and are served with flour tortillas. They were good, but nothing blew my mind. The other dishes and sides were decent as well. However, the service for our experience was frustratingly slow, which dampened some of our experiences.

Amazing food and a great place with a great vibe to share some plates and hang out with friends. The menu here is large and has something for everyone. Along with the menu there is also a special of the day, so don't forget to ask. It can get quite busy at times, so keep that in mind and parking is available within easy walking distance. We ordered a selection of tacos, salsa & chips, the baked queso, and the enchiladas of the day. Everything was delicious but the veggie taco was the table favorite. There is both indoor and outdoor seating as well as a bar.

Food and service is always great! Highly recommend the shrimp and grits and any of the tapas are great! Always get the guacamole. Try their lemonade since it is hand squeezed and delicious. They also have a heavy pour with their margaritas. Not a fan of their baba burger. Too swanky for me but my sister loves it. Always enjoy my time there and food there!

We had an awesome experience with Babalu and a big shout out to Dorien and Mali. I threw a surprise party for my wife at our home. Though it was a small one, I appreciated the personal touch. The food was great and everyone enjoyed it ( most importantly my wife had a blast ). Dorien was very helpful in coordinating everything and Mali did an awesome job with the delivery despite the heavy rain. The packaging of the food was excellent, the food was warm when it arrived. And to me the little touches always matter. They even included the paper plates, napkins and utensils. Thanks Babalu and especially Dorien and Mali.

Very busy on a Saturday but we were seated in a timely manner. The food was very good! (I’m partial to the one in Jackson). Service was excellent. Table side guacamole is the best!!!

Highly recommend. Went in just for a drink and then decided to order food. We were glad we did. It was fantastic. I ordered the lamb sliders and my wife had the pork belly taco and seared tuna taco. We shared and it was all so good. The service was on point and food came out quick even for it being a busy night. Will definitely be going back.

My family and I were visiting from Texas and read the reviews online so we decided to give this place a try. It wasn’t busy when we went so we were seated right away. We started out with the queso and guacamole. Both tasted good, the queso was my favorite of the two. I ordered the chicken satay while my husband ordered the shrimp & chorizo skillet. Both plates were delicious. The others got tacos. I didn’t try those out but overall everyone was satisfied with what they ordered. While there I also got some of street corn. Being Hispanic I wasn’t expecting much out of the corn but I’m glad I gave it a try. It was good! It tasted different than what I’m used to but I would recommend giving it a try.

Went for a quick bite around 3:30pm. No lines and a relaxed atmosphere. For a change of pace I ordered the Baba Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. A little sweet, tangy, salty. Absolutely delicious and filling.

Went here for the first time for my birthday specifically for the celebration that is done. Asked my server if it was still being done and stated that it was my birthday, and I would like it done for me. Our order was taken and my food came out and the server stated that the other food was dropped on the floor. We had to wait for it to be remade and then our ticket was taken to us after waiting for a while for the remade food and no discount. We sat and waited for our money to be taken, and she proceeded to take it and then come back and ask us if we wanted our change back when we did not state to keep it, that is very unprofessional to ask customers as I work as a server also, and we are trained to absolutely not do that as we said no to not be rude. We sat a few minutes after she left and did not receive a receipt nor did anyone come to celebrate my birthday. I was very excited to finally experience this place and have my birthday celebrated to only have it ruined as this was what I was looking forward to all day. As we left our server was folding silverware and there was no evidence of doing my celebration. I was left extremely disappointed in my experience as everyone that goes usually has a much better one. I’m sure if my server would’ve cared I would’ve had the experience everyone talks about but I did not.

Awesome steak tacos, best quality steak meat on a taco that I've ate! I prefer to eat the meat off the taco. The pinot griggio and pico was also good. Hannah was a perfect server!

Went on early Sunday, few tables not busy. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. My favorite was a duck taco and my daughter liked the guacamole. Everything was fresh and alot of flavors. Specially liked the cumin taste on the salad. Music choice was wonderful but it was too loud to be in comfort
