I was very disappointed to read Tim’s review considering I was in there meeting friends for the entirety of his brief visit. Unlike Tim, I’m not one for writing reviews at all. Especially from outside where you can overhear all sorts of things, and not about a new small business trying to cater for all people from all walks of life which I feel The Gate does fantastically. As a regular customer there, I would hope that Tim and possibly his family would like to go back for another short afternoon visit, or to see the great bands (Saturdays), tricky quiz (Wednesdays), diverse outside catering night (Thursdays)….the rest of the days don’t need anything else. A lovely couple run it to an exquisitely high standard so crucifying a business by review over someone that was probably just passing through (like yourself), is unjustified. Just saying…!!!

Excellent choice of craft beers, cask ales and premium lagers including the original Czech Budweiser. Friendly regulars create a warm atmosphere.

A proper pub with welcoming friendly "local" atmosphere. Thankfully not your usual mainstream chain pub. Being a craft bar there's always varied selection of great ales from local and further a field micro-breweries; plus regular wines and spirits. Top landlord & landlady and always helpful, tentative staff. A real local gem!

Just to be clear my scoring system: 1/ Don't go, just don't. 2/ I can't recommend going 3/ I enjoyed it but probably won't go back 4/ I enjoyed it, would go back especially if invited 5/ I enjoyed it, would invite/recommend others there myself Lovely little 'artisan' beer and cider bar. Landlord is invariably sat amongst his customers and can provide an in depth knowledge of the multitude of beers they serve.

The best craft beer bar in the area. 2 or 3 cask beers and 5 or 6 craft taps. Also serves Guinness, Czech Budvar and cider. A small intimate bar.

Really nice pub with a great selection of beers; friendly and welcoming staff; cosy venue. Really happy to have gone in to sample an ale, it ended up being more than two though - they were delicious! Well worth a visit.

Great place to sample loads of different beers. Converted shop so not a traditional pub. But still vibrant atmosphere. Recommended

The absolute best Beer / Craft Beer pub in the South. Always well met by the staff, friendly and with the best range of beer anywhere.

Great real ale and good beer place to enjoy a good drink. My wife reckons that I might need a beard and a dog to fit in, but I think she was being a bit harsh or judgemental. Beers on offer were all good, some guest beers and I think some regulars.

Finally made it to The Gate after living a short drive away for nearly a year... Nice place, good selection of keg and cask ales, nice crowd, welcoming and knowledgeable barman/landlord 🍻

Makes visiting Park Gate worthwhile. Excellent friendly and knowledgeable landlord with a good range of quality craft beers on cask, keg and in cans. It does get busy so may be advisable to book a table.

Nice craft ale pub. Good choice of drinks. Sometimes a little crowded, Live music on occasions so not my first choice for a catch up chat. But we'll worth a visit.

Vibrant bar on the centre of park gate. Excellent selection of beers, which makes a change these day! Got quite busy on a Friday evening but great meeting place!

A great craft beer bar that strikes a balance between a quirky place that's prepared to offer non-mainstream beers and spirits whilst offering an old school 'local' feel with familiar drinks. Recommend.
