After a lovely trip we went to see the local recommendation. Beautiful entry and beautiful building and beautiful sight! I couldn't make my way up as I'm disabled but my partner informed me the 160yr old building has actually been retrofitted to be able to accommodate disabled people! There is an elevator from the bottom all the way to the top! I'll definitely head through next time!! I'm so shocked they did that and so impressed (even though it should be the norm)

Did not have this stop scheduled on my trip. Driving through the countryside and I saw the spires peaking above the trees. What a beautiful Basilica. Take the time to climb to the top of the towers. Such a beautiful view.

Very peaceful and beautiful place to visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and hike up the 178 steps to the top of the tower to see the beautiful views of the countryside. Also a nice place to bring a picnic lunch. We also really enjoyed the stations of the cross which are placed along a beautiful hilly walking path.

Absolutely gorgeous but very crowded the day we visited after having a great lunch at Joe Mamma's. Didn't walk up to the basilica due to my friend just having back surgery brace removed.

Great views at an impressive Basilica. Plenty of services are offered here in multiple languages. You can also walk through the 12 stations of Christ through the woods. In order to do that proper, you’ll want to park in the lot to the NE of the basilica and then walk your way up and through the woods.

This is worth the visit. We visited on 22-Oct-2023. The management is very helpful and the entrance is also free. It has lots of steps to climb up, the top of the tower offers magnificent 360 views . There was a queue and we had to wait for 1.5 hours to get in. We were able to experience the sunset view as well. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Backpacking the Ice Age trail across Wisconsin. Looked up and saw this castle of a church on a hill next to the trail. Didn't expect to see that.

Put on your climbing shoes and stretch those legs for the 178 steps up to the tower. You will be rewarded at the top with breathtaking views. An array of coloring picturesque trees blanket the vistas . Plan on arriving early, as the tower can get crowded. After you descend, stop and visit the Chapel and shop the gift shop. Be respectful in the Chapel, as cell phones and voices have to be silent. This is a must see destination. The admission is free, but please consider making a donation to help with the upkeep. Enjoy your visit.

I probably can’t say anything more than what’s already been said about the distinction and majesty of this place, but what I can say is that you hafta be here. Come and see for yourself. While the Basilica itself is a must see, the grounds are massive with walking trails, Stations of the Cross, a cafe, and gift shop. I think of the engineering feat of the Basilica being built atop this high hill, with its impressive architecture and an aura of a much greater presence than ourselves that all that is seen symbolically points to. You just hafta be here.

Very beautiful place, I am glad I got the chance to see it. Fall colors were just starting to turn. There are some great views, however some trees really need to be trimmed to open up some of the viewing areas. I am disabled and was unable to go up into one of the towers which I am sure provide an un-obstructed view. Well worth going to see.

Holy Hill is located on 435 acres of glorious scenery on the highest elevation in Southeastern Wisconsin, Holy Hill is a destination for those looking to celebrate their faith in a sacred place of peace, beauty and prayer. There is a Spanish mass at 12:30 PM on Sundays. An extensive parking lot and handicap design parking is available in the upper lot next to the entrance. There is a Cafe located in the main lower level. You can take a walk in the paved or non-paved trails

I just can't say enough nice things about this wonderful place that is visited by people from all over the world. The food is great, there's a beautiful gift shop, the clergy are always pleasant and it's a place I come when I just need to be alone because of life's struggles. For those who haven't been here yet, you just have to visit. ?

This place is breath-taking. The architecture is incredible, beautiful artwork inside the Basilica, and gorgeous scenery all around. Even if you're not religious, a visit here is well worth your time.

The views are amazing in the fall. The observation tower has very narrow stairs, so be careful, you may run into some traffic jams with people going the opposite direction as you. I was told the best time to go is the second or third week of October, went on 10/16 and wasn’t disappointed by the beautiful colors. Very busy on weekends of course, but still a neat place to check out!

We visit this place and go to mass at least once a year for blessings. The church inside and out is great. We tried going in different seasons. The best time to go to that place is during Fall. The color change is spectacular. The view from the tower is breath-taking. They have picnic grounds. When it comes to Winter season, we go to mass during Christmas or New Year. We still have to try during the Lenten season and experience the station of the cross. Overall, it's a great place for worship.

What a lovely place to visit. Church services are offered at two different levels. There is a preliminary deck for some beautiful views for miles around. There's also a tower consisting of approximately 170 steps that can be climbed to get expanded views for many many miles around. If you opt for the tower, please be mindful of those coming up and down the stairs because it is extremely narrow and cannot accommodate multiple people walking up and down at the same time in portions of the staircase. Bring your patience and enjoy the gorgeous view from the top. Fall colors are breathtaking, so it's a great time to visit. Be prepared for steep climbs; however, for those who are physically limited, there are also elevators available to get up to the viewing deck as well as either first or second level for mass services. I would recommend visiting both levels. There is also a large gift shop with a variety of wonderful options to select for everyday, and holiday gift-giving as well as special occasions such as christenings, weddings, Etc. You will also find a small Cafe, But be sure to check for hours because it's not always available. There are also food vendors on the property as well as ample parking, though be prepared to park at the large lot which then requires a walk up a relatively steep driveway to reach the basilica. For visitors with physical limitations, it's best to pull up to the upper landing right in front of the entrance to the gift shop. The entry where the gift shop is located has restrooms to the left and slightly down the hall to the right you will find elevators. If you plan a visit for Sunday services, please just remember it will be quite busy. This beautiful Basilica/property is so worth the trip!

Excellent Catholic shrine to visit. This time of year, late Oct the trees are all turning colors and it's especially beautiful. If you're going for mass plan to arrive a bit early as the parking can be a challenge. Also the gift shop closes before mass at 4:30 pm on Saturdays. God bless.

We visited Holy Hill with our 6 kids of all ages 7 months to 13 years. Everyone loved it! Our family members scared if heights faced their fears. Those less afraid just had a fun time. Overall, a big success. The view was spectacular and the chapel is beautiful.

Can't say enough about the power and beauty of this incredible Church!! The towers are lined inside with stairs for an even more breathtaking view of the stunning valleys around it. Climbing the hill, in a car or on foot, just going to the Church, or praying the Stations of the Cross, gives the feeling that you're actually putting in effort to go somewhere beautiful and apart. The chapel of Therese of Lisieux is so calming and beautiful. The high Altar and the side Chapel in the main Church are both stunning!!

My husband and I went here for the first time last year in the fall of 2019 I only heard about this place from a couple of people that I work with my husband he loves old churches and the history behind them when we went the weather was perfect it was sunny out and it was Fall outside the leaves were starting to change colors the only downside was we should have went a little bit earlier because I didn't realize that we went on the last day that they were open and it was jam-packed there was so many people going up and down the stairs to look out of the steeple we also went inside the church and it was really beautiful I do recommend going to this place also I recommend packing a lunch or if you do eat eat at their cafeteria and help support the community

Great hike. Convenient parking. The view from the top is amazing as you can see fir miles around so bring binoculars. The coves along the hike up the hill showing statues of Jesus's crucifixion are undeniably moving.

It's like a castle rising from the forest. A beautiful basilica, full of spirituality and pilgrims from all over. Definitely take the walk through the woods to see the different biblical stories.

Beautiful church! I explored here on my own a few weeks ago, then brought my mom again this weekend. The grounds are beautiful. The church is magnificent, especially the sanctuary. But my favorite part is the view for miles of God's creation, followed by the chapel for silence & prayer.

This place is not only beautiful but also very holy. They have 2 daily masses on weekdays, 6 am, and 11 am. The Priests gave great homilies. My first time went to Sunday Mass here and I experienced something I did not see at any masses that I’ve been. The Priest blessed water and salt, mixed them together and sprinkled on us. For those who don’t know about holy water and holy salt, please search for the meaning of these Sacramentals. There are 14 stations of the Cross outside along the way walk up to the church. The gift shop has a lot of stuff. There is a Grotto where you can get Holy Water so bring your bottle or get some for a few bucks in the gift shop. There are stairs outdoor that lead all the way from the ground to the Church. They also have stairs inside the building as well as elevator. Restrooms are very clean. Please consider to wear appropriate clothes when visiting this place. The Monks placed the sign at the entrance asking people to wear proper clothes so please help them.

We stopped on the way back from a long trip and did not have energy left to traverse the grounds, we hope to come back one day with more energy! We did snap some pics and those came out nicely.

I love this church. The church is beautiful and the grounds are peaceful. Plus, as a bonus, you can climb the many many stairs in the observation tower and see kettle moraine as you've never seen it. Stunning.

It's peaceful and the perfect place for prayer and teaching my children about the beautiful Catholic faith. We had lunch at the picnic area at the bottom of the Stations of the Cross hill. Then we headed up completing the Stations, stopping at the Basilica and Lourdes Grotto replica to pray and replenish our holy water. We also visited the many statues of Jesus, Mary and Joseph.... my kids especially loved praying through Mary to Jesus at the Fatima grotto! Such an exceptionally inspiring place to visit with children!!!

This place is beautiful. It's great to visit, even if you don't follow the Christian faith. There's an observation tower that you can climb, but it's currently closed because of the pandemic. There are trails that go through the forest around the church that are beautiful.

  • 3/5 Reannah J. 4 years ago on Google
I truly enjoy this place, for multiple reasons. There are 2 different entrances; a back entrance that leads to many trails and a main entrance (which consists of a gravel parking lot). The view of the church from below is superb! It reminds me of Hogwarts. The tower that leads to the top is incredible! What a hike and what a view to get to the very top! The grounds are mostly beautiful, with statues of Mother Mary atop the hill. Throughout the outside sanctuary, there are bars with arrows on top that surround the individual statuary scenarios of Jesus carrying the cross to his death. I found that a bit threatening for someone coming to visit. From the perspective of a visitor, it suggests that there's a lack of trust and fear of property damage. I think having the statuary behind glass/plastic (in that case) would've been better. However, I couldn't help but wonder if they do this to protect the $ that gets tossed onto the grounds of each scene. Why wouldn't they have a separate box for $ deposit next to the scene, then? It seems rather dark, to me. This is supposed to be a place of peace. Perhaps they could use some better ideas for their strategies because having sharp black bars up in front of each scene of Jesus is just not making that space as peaceful as it could. It's problematic and not only that, but it distracts from the beauty of each scene. Dogs are allowed outside, but not inside of the church. That is understandable. I appreciate the memorials located throughout the property. The inside of the church is remarkable. There are many good things about this place, overall. I truly hope that if someone from the staff reads my review that they seriously consider what messages they're sending to the public with their sharp black bars around the scenes of Jesus and work towards removing them because they are barriers to the purity of the grounds. Thanks.
