TRUCKER BROTHERS, LISTEN UP....I found this hidden Gem by accident. I got off the freeway looking for something else and saw a bunch of trucks here. Being a truck driver and needing a 30 min break...I parked and walked in this restaurant. I got steak and eggs with hashbrowns and toast. Price is awesome, service is spectacular and truck parking is plentiful. this is my new food stop in southern Idaho! God bless these fine folks at this establishment

Have traveled more than 40,000 miles (all by car) across the USA over the past 4 years, stopping at all kinds of diners and smaller restaurants and I was so pleased with my experience at the Wayside Cafe! Easy to find. 24 hours. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating. SUPER friendly and fast waitress (Tawnie?) Great selection of food. Great prices. Great big portions! We had the ground sirloin steak dinner and the finger steak dinner which came with soup, rolls, huge portions of the entree and a dessert! You will not leave hungry and you will leave happy! Tip these folks well...places like this are rare!! (Photos of the menu with prices as of Sept 2022 included)

First I'd like to thank Vern for outstanding service. Second the food was amazing. Hand-made soup, chicken fried steak (which I highly recommend) I ordered the breakfast. They also offered it as a dinner. Homemade biscuits and gravy. The pork chops we're also amazing as my boyfriend ordered them .Hat's off to the cook. We highly recommend. We really hope to come back soon. Ps there is truck parking

This was our first time here at Wayside Cafe had the Tbone Steak and Baked Potato with mixed vegetables. It was ok just wished it was grilled on both sides of the steak bc on the other side it looked like they finished it in a pan, had a little to many tendons. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž It came with desert but it was an old cake. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘ŽThe special Open faced mushroom burger was pretty good never had one but good. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ We had Tea to drink but our waitress never came back to offer any more when we were low. ๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ˜ก๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

A godsend for loneliness & depression, the only restaurant open 24 hours around here. Very friendly, loving staff open to any kind of conversation. Diner comfort food I grew up with in '70s, including hot beef sandwiches, chicken fried steak, T-bones, & breakfast fry-ups. Idaho dishes like steak fingers & trout, too. Spaghetti sauce is exceptional (pasta was just a tad gummy). Best thing we ate was the Tomato Mac soup that also came w/dinner (you get a choice between two options). Dessert is included with most dinners. Ours was pumpkin chocolate chip cake topped w/whipped cream. Heaven!

Nice little cafe with amazingly friendly service, great homemade food and good prices. We're family of 7 and we ate for under $85 with tax which is a win in our pocket book!!

Good food and plenty of it. One waitress is really good other act like itโ€™s a bother for them. Prices are reasonable. Until I payed 4.25 for a Togo coffee in my own cup. When I asked cashier she judged giggled and said itโ€™s to early. Poor thing must of partied all night and then came to work on little sleep. I really felt bad for her. How pathetic. 4.25 fir that cup of coffee

This is a bit of a long review, but it is so important. I would give this place negative 100 stars if I could. I donโ€™t normally take reviews seriously, but I guess this was the time I should have. We are from Oregon where it is mandatory to wear a mask indoors. As soon as we walked in we noticed that not a single person was wearing a mask (employees included). I guess to each their own, we are taking the risk by eating here so, whatever. We were not greeted, our menus were thrown down on the table, and the waitress who brought our silverware was not wearing gloves... all things I guess we can get over because we have been on the road for 9+ hours and just want something to eat, not to mention that all of the food reviews seemed great for this place. The thing that was appalling was the waitress, who in front of everyone, counted her CASH tips with her gloves on, and then served food without switching her gloves. At this point I decided that I didnโ€™t feel comfortable eating here so we asked for the check (for our drinks). The male waiter we had, who I assume had just gotten there, very nicely handed us our check and apologized for us feeling uncomfortable. Could have ended there, but the waitress who had counted her tips then asked very loudly what I had said. I will admit, I may have acted in appropriately by loudly answering her but I do not at all regret my words. I wonโ€™t make this political but I just suggested that they care a bit more about the safety of their customers and wear masks. She then told me that they โ€œdip their hands in bleach waterโ€ to disinfect. And then all of the staff proceeded to shame me for wearing a mask, telling me โ€œlife is a gambleโ€, I should leave... I am shocked that this restaurant is still up and running. So I have nothing to say about the food, but I do know from experience that the waitresses who yelled profanities at me on my way out didnโ€™t make it a welcoming experience. I wonโ€™t ever be returning and I will never recommend.

We absolutely LOVE Wayside and while we love all the staff, Nina is our favorite โค๏ธ She is so sweet and kind, and incredible patient especially with our 4 year old son. We are regulars, coming in for breakfast most every Sunday and occasionally more during the week and the breakfast sandwiches, hash browns, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and french toast are some of our personal favorites. Stop at Wayside for breakfast any time and you won't be disappointed!

Just keep driving. I canโ€™t believe we waited an hour for one of the worst meals in my life. Now I know why all the ranchers weโ€™re ordering grilled cheese sandwiches. Canโ€™t mess that up l.

Comfy country atmosphere with lots of locals. The fries were fresh and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff and a great lunch while traveling. I would definitely come here again.

Oh my! The food and service at Wayside Cafe is phenomenal. We have visited family numerous times in Rupert and never knew about this road side diner until our recent visit. Itโ€™s truly a hidden gem. All of the dishes we tried during our recent 10-day stay in Rupert- breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent. Breakfast steak was good and most surprising was the Truckerโ€™s Special - a ten ounce sirloin so tender and juicy. Itโ€™s as good as any high quality steak house. No need for steak sauce. All of the meals includes soup/salad, vegetables, and even a dessert of the day. Prices are awesome and affordable. Hence, another reason we came six times during our stay. Whenever in the Burley/Rupert area be sure to eat at the Wayside Cafe. They are open 24-hours.

Friendly and quick service. Good mom & pop style diner. Prices are great and everything is homemade. The only negative was the chicken tenders were over breaded and a bit too hard. We will be back to try the chicken noodle soup thatโ€™s available on sundays!

First visit, had the ground beef steak dinner. Great all around family dinner experience. Tasty green salad, good beef steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, nice big biscuits and plenty of coffee. The waitstaff were attentive and pleasant. Great deals on meals.

I stopped in for dinner since it had favorable reviews. I had the chicken fried steak special. Honestly, everything tasted like it had been frozen or came from a can. It was just okay. I would give the food 3 stars but the service was 5 stars plus! Great bunch of waitresses! You do get a bunch of food for the price. And it's cheaper than eating at a fast food joint!

Be prepared to be stared at if you're not a local. Fries are nasty? I mean this is Idaho, I can get better fries out of a bag at Walmart. Also be ready to stand around while the servers are out smoking, horrible service. Wish I could post negative stars.

Amazing, dang good food, and finally a place that gets it...it was nice to sit and eat a nice meal with very few people wearing masks...

No social distancing or masks anywhere. Not even the staff. Place seems great, but good luck not spreading the virus.

No one in this establishment is wearing a mask or wearing gloves. They are allowing people to dine in with close proximity. This is not ok! We are going through a pandemic. Don't come here!!

Big food portion at a reasonable price, I had the Big Ben omelet. It was really good. Only bummer was my toast was already cold before the plate was on the counter. I didn't complain because they were very busy. I would stop here again.

This place was so good! Our waitress Terri was such a kewl person! So helpful and made us welcome. I had the soup homemade and a French dip sandwich! All servings were huge and homemade. My husband had a chili burger and fries. Loved it and couldn't eat it all! The atmosphere was so homey. Reminded me of my childhood trips with my family and ones in the good old days.!! Also got a piece of homemade peach pie to go. Kudos to the cooks. It was delicious! Thanks Terri for being so amazing wow! This is a place you must go and eat!!! Will stop there again and recommend it to all!! Prices were also good.

Iโ€™ve stopped here on several occasions and had issues with my meal but, this time I must vent on google. I order two pancakes with an order of bacon (4 pieces). The plate in which the pancakes were served on is chipped and could have caused me to cut my hand very badly. In addition, the pancakes werenโ€™t completely brown on both sides. I donโ€™t think they would put an illustration of the provided photo of these pancakes on their menu and think this would make customers order pancakes!!!

This restaurant is what small home towns are made of! Skip the fastfood along I-86, if you have a few minutes, to sit down and enjoy a home cooked burger it's worth it! Fast, friendly service and great food!

Everyone was friendly and attentive however the trout was over priced and not the best. It still tasted good but the quality did not match the price. The tomato soup was great. Mashed potatoes were absolutely delicious.

Food is good but for me the service is awesome. Very friendly atmosphere for sure! They make sure you are happy with your experience. Love what this restaurant does for people. You can by a dinner for someone less fortunate than you. They make sure anyone hungry without money get a good meal! I will definitely go there aging!

I miss these kinds of places. Wonderful people that aren't offended. Great place to eat great food. Many things are home made, including their salad dressings. The blue cheese is the best IMO, so much so I bought some to take with me. The staff at night was amazing. Best company I've had in a restaurant in a very long time. This kind of place is a dying offering. One that peppered the Nation back in the 70s and early 80s.

We've been here a few times. Always really big servings. Service is usually great. If it's packed, try not to sit in the very back, that cuts down on being seen by your waitress. Yummy food and good prices.

Went there last Tuesday to have dinner with my really good trucker friend that was passing through and wanted some dinner and we drove up from pocatello to eat there. When we walked in we were wearing mask and everybody looked at us like we killed someone. Everybody in the diner wasn't wearing a mask and nobody was wearing a mask or gloves. The waiter sat us down at a very dirty table and took more then ten minutes to clean half of the table off.. we weren't going to leave because we already made reservations and my trucker friend was only able to go a certain miles away from the freeway. And to top it off I feel completely sick since I ate there and had to take off work for two weeks because I didn't wanna chance anybody getting sick. Definitely would not recommend going there unless you plan on getting sick
