My dreams finally came true, and I was able to visit this iconic nightclub!! I couldn't believe how many other tourists were there for the same reason as me- to see Princes Gold Star! It was a Whole Vibe!!

This is not a local establishment, it is owned by live nation. Typical for a conglomerate it lacks any representation of local zeitgeist and is stripped of any sense of community. Consider not supporting this venue due to any connection to the community. A shell of a space

What a nice venue for a concert. Saw some Australian chap, Chet... He has two names (very Peter Gabriel). The pat down before entering was the best part ( I think I might be engaged - yes? No?). Not a bad spot in the house. Plenty of bars, everybody was bloody lovely. Acoustics were great. Priced right, too. This is an iconic place. Last time I saw a concert there it was Information Society! Place has only gotten better. Go. Visit. Listen!

First Avenue is obviously one of the most iconic venues in Minnesota to see a live music performance, and maybe one of the most iconic venues in America. Just going for the history reasons alone is enough to go out and check out this place. They are one of the best spots for getting great musical artists to perform. As far as actually seeing live music there, I think First Avenue is pretty good, but not great. It is always way to packed in there. If you don't get there early, its pretty hard to get a good view of the musicians. They have a small upper level, but you'll have to get there early to get a decent spot.

The iconic venue that has drawn so many amazing music artists - first and foremost, PRINCE! 💜 Concert footage in Purple Rain were shot here. The same location where Prince played before the days of Purple Rain. They give tours - check the website. 2 stories of fun and excitement. Good drinks, huge dancefloor and good location. 7th Street Entry is very small in contrast and provides a stage for less established musicians/groups. Highly recommended if you're in MPLS! 💜🔥🤘💜🔥🤘💜🔥🤘 0(+>

I've seen Yungblud here, and just recently saw The driver era here, first ave is by far my favorite venue, great atmosphere. Thought one of the bartenders could use an attitude check but it wasn't that big of a deal I still very much enjoyed my time there

Iconic concert venue doesn't disappoint. New sound system is outstanding. Clear vocals and perfect sounds. Only one thing is missing: a star for Cold War Kids. 😂

The concert for Coco Jones was so lit!!!! The ladies that were with her were off the chain as well. In my photos I have new and upcoming badass Ebony Riley from Detroit and Coco Jones in the gold on stage performing. The show was amazing and Ebony Riley did her thang for this to be her first time on tour. Entry was free but the ticket to the concert was $40 well worth it.

Went to see Prince mural and get a ticket at the Depot. First Avenue is best place yo see a concert. Love First Ave. 7th Street Entry too. Cannot beat them. We are so fortunate to have them in Twin Cities. Appreciate. Best in the WORLD.

I'm new to the area, but I've been to this iconic club a couple of times now. It's the kind of venue where you still really feel the energy of the crowd. Where you can feel like you're really there inside the music with the band. The people running sound obviously know what they're doing. Had a great experience both upstairs and down on the floor. The layout is great and there are multiple bars to make it convenient to grab a drink without fighting for service.

Honestly every time I go here, the venue is always decently organized and fairly clean. The shows are smaller and therefore much more intimate, even on nights where it's sold out and you're packed in like sardines. It's easy to find and there's a decent amount of both street and lot parking on the surrounding blocks.

Absolutely stunning venue in terms of staff, sound, sightline, and history. A must stop for Minneapolis! The history of this venue is amazing as you can see from the stars on the wall from some of the past performers. It’s a family owned club that treats staff with respect. This is also the venue much of Purple Rain was filmed in.

Go here! I've only been to one show, but it was great. Very casual with a hip college crowd and plenty of bar service. Drinks aren't cheap, but that's to be expected. I paid $10 for a rum and Coke. I stayed on the balcony and had a good line of site for the whole show. Not sure if it was sold out so it's possible other shows are a little more crowded. Even so, this is a fun venue and pretty intimate. You can be as close or far from the stage as you want. Overall just a fun time. See photos for Superorganism

If I could give this place no stars I would. Anti fun, anti bluegrass. Prince is rolling in his grave at the current condition of his club. I am disappointed to say the least.

Always a great venue to see live music! I’d guess I’ve seen about 25 shows here over the years. Saw Zakk Sabbath on Thursday, 12/28/23 - amazing show… was packed!

This is my absolute favorite venue in Minnesota! There is a killer lineup nearly every night. Definitely a music lovers paradise. The venue is well laid out and every spot in the house is a good one. This place is run like a well oiled machine. The outside heat lining the wall for those in line waiting to get in is a big plus.

This iconic venue in the heart of Minneapolis, is a must see! Scanning the walls outside the building you can see it’s historical contributions to the music culture of the city. I highly recommend a visit to this legendary venue.

For a world famous venue that promotes itself as such frankly it's lackluster. Lights and audio are incredibly inconsistent across the multiple times I've been here and with bands where I've seen other shows with the same engineers so I can tell it's a venue issue The stage is VERY tall. Great for folks everywhere except for at the front. If you're at the front, be ready for a stiff neck All of this so far would put it at 4 stars. What knocks it down is the venue security. The security handling entry are usually very good but the rail security is consistently a detriment to enjoyment. Multiple times security ignored the crowd and they have had to get the artist's attention for situations to be resolved. Crowd surfers rarely get caught properly and frequent dangerous surfers were allowed to continually surf. On one occasion I witnessed one such member of security pocket a guitar pick thrown from the stage to hand off to a friend far from where the pick was thrown.

Great concert venue if one can stand up during it. Many bars, fun wait staff, and eclectic crowds.

Still one of the best places to see a concert. It's a smaller venue so you can see from many angles and from the upper level, MN classic.

We are blessed to have 1st Ave booking all these venues in town. They are really good at placing the acts in the right locations. I hope to join the members this year!

I went to First Avenue for an Owl City Concert in October and found it to be totally delightful. The music of course was awesome and atmosphere was fine which was great. There might have been a bit more seating for just those with needs as a few people who needed seats couldn't get any because they were all reserved for special guests. Otherwise, the lines moved fast outside, the place had an easy layout, and you could really feel that there was some history there. Well worth the trip. A1

Great vibes. Awesome staff. Pretty good view of stage from everywhere. The sound system seriously needs updating. The sound is loud sure, but the quality is awful, the bass is off and the vocals are drowned out by the crowd. There is no surround sound feeling, it's like watching a really really loud garage band. If they can update their sound systems I'd give it 5 stars

Cleaner than most venues I've been to. Staff trekked through the crowd to provide drink orders to those in the standing area in front of the stage. Great vibe. Saw Sofi Tukker perform here and it was incredible

Great place to go see live music. Saw Glorious Sons there last night and it was an excellent show. Doesn't matter if you stand on the main floor, behind the soundboard, rails or 2nd floor you get a great view and sound. Live music. Do it.

Classic music venue, well run and hosting a wide variety of bands and musicians. If the show is sold out go very early and find a good spot to stand on a rail separating the floor from the rest of the venue. It will be easier to enjoy the music from there.

My new all time favorite venue. Went there for the first time on Tuesday to see Apocalyptica and Lacuna Coil and it was f**king perfection. I love the atmosphere and setup!

The last time I saw a show here the sound engineer was wearing a beefy looking set of earplugs. If he needs them standing all the way behind the floor near the bar, then maybe it’s actually too loud. The decades-old boomer idea that an indoor show has to be so loud that it causes permanent hearing damage for most people in the crowd if they don’t wear earplugs isn’t cool. If you’re trying to be cool by damaging people’s ears, just stop. That’s not cool. It’s cool to be able to hear in your day to day life without a constant ringing of tinnitus. It’s cool to hear the silence of a quiet, snowy night without the constant ringing of tinnitus. It’s cool to hear great music live without it sounding like a muffled mess through earplugs. You know what isn’t cool? Blasting people’s ears so hard that everyone has to choose to either damage their hearing or hear the music they love enough to spend money (sometimes a lot of money) to see live through earplugs, compromising the sound quality and clarity. The expensive stacks of loudspeakers probably sound great when the volume isn’t so loud that earplugs are necessary to prevent hearing damage. Quit with your bait-and-switch ticket fees while you’re at it.

Had a blast! Great Venue*** Small intimate place to watch a great band! Drinks are not cheap, but they are a good pour for that price! This was my 1st concert here, but I am already looking for another band to go see!!!

A great place to see a concert! Great acoustics. It is mostly standing room but there are some stools and tables on the upper floor if you need the space.
