We recently stayed at the Marriott Renaissance at the Depot in Minneapolis while we were visiting town for a wedding and to meet friends and family. We chose this hotel due to the great location and decided to spend a little extra for a historic suite, which in hindsight was a mistake. We ended up staying in the Spokane Suite which was on the second level on the South side of the old depot portion of the hotel right above busy/noisy Washington Ave. Each night over the weekend we were woken up about every 15 minutes due to excessive road/car noise, blasting music with heavy bass and reckless over-reving vehicles. Overall the hotel was fine but the most annoying item for me was the bed in our room which was extremely uncomfortable, being a single standard king mattress on two twin box springs. The box springs were somewhat uneven and made it so each side of the bed tapered down on each side rising to a ridge in the middle of the bed. Take that with a grain of salt as I have a bad back and I'm a very light/sensitive sleeper. Also, the images of the suites online show each as having a double sink vanity and a larger bathroom, which our suite lacked. I understand most of the suites are in the historical part of the building but we were expecting something a little bit more special, restful, and relaxing. Additionally a single drink at the bar was $25 when including tip, which compared to the excellent bars in the area was pretty steep in price. I'd still recommend this location and hotel but for the money you'd be better off staying in a regular king or double queen room. The service was okay but not exceptional and we had to ask for our bedding and towels to be changed out, which as a suite guest was annoying.

What a beautiful hotel. Such a wonderful stay. I would ABSOLUTELY stay again! All of the staff was amazing and so accommodating. I would recommend for anyone who would like a classy but fairly priced hotel.

Stayed here while I was in Minneapolis for training. When we arrived we were welcomed by a nice gentlemen who was very polite and did his job well. We received our room keys and headed up stairs. When entering the room everything seemed clean, organized and well laid out. I opened my blinds to look out the window and the view was terrible. I think because we were there for training and the company I was training with paid for the accommodations they treated us like second rate citizens. After taking to the rest of the group I was with it was clear they gave us all the rooms with the worst views. Looking out my window I was staring at a huge HVAC unit on the roof and couldn’t see much else. Speaking to my colleagues I found it weird that all of us had bad views and mine wasn’t even the worst. I wasn’t to put off by this at first because I was there for work and didn’t pay for the room. Although still a little disappointed I didn’t give it to much thought. We found out that room service was not available as they didn’t have enough staff. I get it, different times right now so again I didn’t give it much thought. The bar area was beautiful and the staff was amazing. The hotel itself was very well put together and classy. I went to use the pool but it was so cold I just could spend to much time in the water. Work out facility is small but does the job. Overall I thought the hotel was nice but questioned the few things I didn’t like already. The room, this is where things went down hill. The bath tub was tiny, the shower head sprayed all over the place and it looked outdated. My fridge made a weird noise the entire time which was a little frustrating. After the first night I woke up and went to the bathroom to find a few ants crawling around. It was a few and I just grabbed a tissue and flushed them. No big deal, I guess… Second day after I returned to the hotel I again found ants in the bathroom that now made me start looking around for them. I found more on the carpet area and really started looking. Found ants in my shoes when I went to change out of my dress shoes to sneakers, and noticed a few here and there. Now I’m a little weirded out. I’m an outdoor type of guy and yes I didn’t like what I was seeing but at the same time it wasn’t that bad for me. Again I’m here for work, didn’t pay for the room and really didn’t want to cause an issue while I’m here on someone else’s dime. Last night there I wake up in the morning to find ants in my bed! Enough is enough… there is clearly an issue here and it’s not being addressed. I go to the bathroom and there is a dead spider on the ground with about 20 ants eating it! Wow. We were leaving that morning and I really didn’t want to be the guy complaining as I know I would just get the old sorry sir, we apologize etc. so I decided I would just leave an honest review on Google as I am a local guide. I can’t imagine they don’t know about this problem because it was so obvious and can’t help but think if I was there with my wife and a paying customer I probably wouldn’t have got that room. My advice is you should treat every customer with respect and offer them the best you can. The 10 people I attended with all had complaints but none of them are going to voice them to staff. Unfortunately for your hotel one of them (me) happens to be someone that leaves reviews at every place I visit as I think everyone should be held accountable and the people out there need the truth. Good or bad! Last bad taste in my mouth is that my flight wasn’t till 4 pm and when I went to ask about late checkout I was just told NO! Again not causing an issue as I am here for work!Overall the hotel was decent but nothing special and there was just to many things that turned me off. Bugs, outdated bathroom, cold pool etc. Minneapolis itself was very nice, very clean streets, good restaurants, not overly crowded, has a lot of golf courses, over 13000 lakes, the women here are gorgeous lol and had many nice buildings with cool architecture. I would definitely visit again just not sure I would stay here.

This is the place to stay if you wanna be downtown Minneapolis at the right cost. Not too fancy but comfortable and great location. Room rates are very reasonable but no free parking. At $27 per day for self parking, it’s kinda steep. Rooms are very good sized but not as modern as I’d expected. No central lighting control switched bedside means u need to get up and turn each one off and on.

Nice hotel that used to be a train depot. Staff very friendly. Great cocktails at the bar. Unfortunately no drawers in the room if you want to unpack your clothes. Would definitely stay again.

Great lobby bar. Friendly staff. $4.00 for a Pepsi is steep, but it came with refills. Nice atmosphere. A mix of old and new. Pricey menu: $19.00 + City tax for a burger, etc.Slammin' jazz instrumental had me bobbin' my head. Part of the great atmosphere.

Nice hotel. Location is great. Good customer service. Classy. History of building is cool too. Better than average fitness. Was part of a wedding booking otherwise may not have stayed at such a nice place. Dunn Bros coffee right there too. Had miscommunication with housekeeping, but we worked it out.

Want to give a special shout out to night shift Adam & manager Stuart McKay for being so amazing and helping me after I left items in the hotel! So professional! So wonderful! If you want to stay at a trustworthy location, stay at the Depot Hotel 🏨 ❤️

This is a proper Marriott. It is what a hotel of this level should be. The staff are all exactly at the level you expect. Even the cleaning crew was first rate. The location is superb. We happened to be in town for the Aquatenial and had an obstructed, but excellent view of the fireworks from our room. The breakfast was great, as was the service. The Concierge Lounge had excellent choices and snacks fully stocked. This property IS the standard others need to attain. What a wonderful stay. It reminded me of what all Marriott's used to be. I have stayed in 198 hotels as of this review. This was top 5.

Excellent stay. Arrived at 1:30 for checkin (early). It was the weekend of the Taylor Swift concert, so the hotel was very busy. Very short wait to get checked in. They did have to wait list me because the room wasn't ready. 30 minutes later the room was ready to go. SUPER comfortable beds and pillows. The room was very clean and spacious. Lunch at the restaurant in the lobby. Front greeters weren't the friendliest, but the waitress and food were great. Overall very happy we chose this hotel. Loved that it included covered parking. Only negative was the key card for the parking didn't work upon leaving, but eventually someone opened the gate after ringing several times for assistance. Not sure if the hotel owns the parking or not, as it seems to be shared. No one ever came on the speaker to say something, but it opened so I guess that's all I needed.

This is a nice hotel as you would expect from Renaissance/Bonboy properties. It is within 5-15 minutes of the north loop, river and eateries. It is quiet and the rooms are nice. We will not stay there again because the shower has an opaque glass wall to the bedroom. Whenever someone uses the bathroom light pours into the room. Also the bathroom has a nightlight that can’t be turned off. The light comes through that glass in the shower 24/7. If you need darkness to sleep, these types of rooms won’t work.

The towels are old and ratty. The bed is lumpy, sloped in the middle from too much use, and hurt my back. The carpeted floor in the room is disgustingly dirty. There were smudges all over the mirrors and windows. No free water is provided, they charge $6/bottle. The cleaning staff ignored me when I asked for an additional wash cloth. The hours are unpredictable and unposted for the restaurant and room service; the staff are condescending and blaming when you ask for clarification about the posted hours. At 1:30 pm i tried to have lunch in the restaurant, they told me they were closed. The posted hours and front desk said they were open. The front desk suggested I should sit in the empty, dark, not open bar by myself, even though the restaurant 5 feet away was bustling - completely humiliating. The next day, I tried to order breakfast at 9 am. The ordering system in the room said service would resume at 6:30 am the following day, so I couldn’t order. When I called that night to order breakfast for the following morning, they would not take my order. I asked what time I should order breakfast, they said 10 am; I explained the previous issue, they blamed me, and said I should’ve called the front desk. Why do you have an in room ordering system that doesn’t work? Why would I think the front desk would help when they tried to convince me to eat alone in a dark empty bar? I sincerely hope Marriott jettisons this hotel, this was the worst Marriott I’ve ever had the misfortune to stay in.

I took my preteen daughter for a fancy meal at the restaurant. We didn't stay at the hotel. We rolled up in our casual wear and were treated like Queens. The food and drinks were worth coming back to. I look forward to staying at the hotel one day soon. Gratitude for the wonderful staff who made my little girl and I feel special and welcome.

This is the hotel you want to stay at if you're ever in Minneapolis! I was just passing through for 2 days with a few friends and was blown away by the quality of this hotel. It's a cool old train depot but with the most luxury you could ever dream of! Recommend staying here! The rooms are clean and just have a nice style to them. The bar downstairs is super nice,Didn't have a chance to check out the restaurant but it looks fancy as well!

My organization recently hosted an event at the space for the second year in a row and we are constantly ecstatic about the service we get and our guests. Their service is top notch! I highly recommend hosting an event at their space. We will be back every year.

The lobby, restaurants, and event spaces are very nice. The staff is friendly and the hotel is conveniently located. The rooms appear to not have been updated in sometime. Our room looked very dated and should have been priced significantly less. We just stayed with a competitor at the same price point and the room and amenities were a night and day different. We were also disappointed that the Renaissance had recently removed EV charging, this was one of the initial reasons we chose to stay here. The front desk told me the manager was going to call me on EV changing options and that call never happened.

Initial impression was that the hotel smelled weird, despite actively being cleaned. Upon getting our keys and heading up to our room, we discovered the room we booked with a king bed was actually a room with 2 queens. Calling the front desk to ask for the room we booked, we were told to go down to the front desk, just to be told "We don't have any available, sorry." I don't know if not getting what we booked and paid for or having to walk down and back up when they could have told us that over the phone upset us more.

Lovely Hotel. Beautifully decorated. Modern and elegant with a cozy feel. A very nice breakfast buffet with hot/cold options available on weekends 7-11am. I was greeted by a delightful woman by the name of Randee... she put a smile on my face with her positive and kind attitude. All of the staff are very kind and helpful. Rooms have a mini fridge, iron/ironing board, coffee maker, and hair dryer. Indoor pool and Gym are available with room card access. While the Milwaukee railroad does not exist as a separate entity anymore, it is still commemorated in buildings...statues and history.

Absolutely excellent place to stay. Was here for training at the post office nearby. Quiet, clean rooms. Loved that they had a pool. Friendly staff. Coolest "wallpaper" in our room.

I brought six 14 years old girls here for a birthday and couldn't have been happier. The hotel was clean, the rooms were big and had everything we needed, parking was easy, and the staff were really friendly and accommodating.

Absolute perfection! Excellent, comfortable, enjoyable one night stay in this beautiful hotel. Marriott and Renaissance have done an exquisite job with this property. They have successfully blended the architecture, look and feel of the surrounding community and created a superb facility on the site of the historic train depot. This facility is new and completely modern. The Architects and designers have done a beautiful job of mixing modern, sleek decor with really cool retro features and fixtures using the railroad theme throughout the property. One of my favorite retro features is the use of old suitcases and travel trunks in several locations! Best of all, the hotel is adjacent, actually connected to, the train depot, which is now used for events. In my opinion, one of the top attributes of any facility or business is cleanest. In this case, the Renaissance wins top honors! The entire facility is immaculate! The lobby and common areas, as well as the guestrooms are spotless. The lobby is an open concept which incorporates the check in and registration desk, the hotel restaurant and lounge. It is not a humongous area, but rather a very cozy, intimate space. My guestroom was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable. A very modern room with large windows providing a view of the depot and Minneapolis skyline beyond. My guestroom featured a large flat screen TV, mini refrigerator, safe and comfortable large bed. The bathroom is large and has a unique design, which makes it very functional, especially if there are multiple guests. The bath includes a large, glass, walkin shower with rain shower fixture. My encounters with the hotel's staff associates were few. However, the associates I had the pleasure of meeting were very friendly and helpful. I must give kudos to the gentleman who checked myself and my colleagues in upon our arrival. He also provided very helpful information about the hotel and dining options located near the hotel. Since this was my first visit to this hotel, the information he provided was extremely helpful. Most of the evening dining options at the hotel begin at 3 pm. My colleagues and I were hungry when we arrived around noon. We ventured to a local pub/restaurant near the hotel for lunch. Therefore, I am unable to provide information about the hotel dining. However, from my observations, the hotel restaurant and lounge look inviting and enticing. If you need accommodations in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, I highly recommend the Renaissance. It offers perfect accommodations for families, groups and if traveling solo.

Absolutely beautiful hotel in historic building. Great location and amenities. The staff could not have been nicer! Phil made us feel so welcome and treated us with great care.

Update to the owners response: the property “owner” said that they were unaware of any issues in their reply; however I just spoke with the front desk manager about it maybe 2 hours ago. And housekeeping never came to clean my bathroom, I had to go find housekeeping and clean the bathroom myself. The hotel itself is nice and updated but that’s about the only allure there is to this place. As quite a few other reviews have mentioned, customer service is lacking badly here. When I called down with concerns about water pressure (or lack thereof) I was met with a snarky attitude from the customer service staff. Maintenance came and went initially without really saying anything, and the maintenance man stank up my room with the smell of cigarette smoke off gassing from his clothes. When I called down after 20 minutes passed to inquire the status is when I was met with snarky attitude from the customer service staff. When maintenance finally fixed the problem they left the shower dirty and dirty water all over, and I had to call down once again to have the bathroom cleaned. All in all it took over 3 hours just to get a quick shower. I think a little customer service training or at least hospitality training would go a long way.

Clean, bright, good signage. Bartenders make a great cocktail! Saturday breakfast was fabulous. The server was super and the front desk staff was very helpful when I needed assistance, as I lost my parking ticket. Lovely venue!

The room was ok. But the idea of customer service is clearly alien to these folks. The phone in the room produces a busy signal no matter which button is pushed so no calling the front desk. I had to call the reservation number from my cell to get transferred to the desk and twice was put on indefinite hold. No room service, but you can order food from the restaurant, which you can't get a hold of by phone. I asked for my in room coffee service to be replenished twice. No go. When I asked to check out at 12:30 instead of Noon I was told "No." They didn't even ask what room I was in. Just "No." Which is what I would say if you asked me if I'd stay there again.

The hotel is in a great location. We booked two rooms for our stay. The rooms were modern and clean . We had a few issues (1) where a fight broke out side our room in the hallway at 2 am (not the hotels fault). (2) my son left his air pods in the room and by the time we realized it we were on the road home, we located them with the find my iPhone app and called the front desk on 3 different occasions to see if the staff could look in the room for them and we would pay to have them shipped home. We never received a call from anyone !!! I would expect at least a call saying whether they located them or not. We got nothing! I would expect better treatment to a Marriott rewards member !!

Hotel room was very nice. Very clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The amenities at the hotel are great. All the food they prepared was good as well. Within walking distance of a lot of great spots.

I went to visit a friend that had a room there. When I first arrived I was confused to where the hotel even was because I didn't see any hotel signs. I eventually found the underground parking ramp. It was nice considering the hotel is located downtown and parking is usually expensive or hard to find. From the parking ramp you go straight into an elevator that leads to the rooms of the hotel which is actually very convenient. And there's actually alot of parking. The room was nice and clean. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

When we checked in we asked that the sheets would be changed each day of our stay. 3 times we asked for it to happen on the second day of our stay. The staff took note of our room and said they’d make sure it would happen. Came back from a wedding at 11 pm to absolutely no room service. Asked for them to bring us clean sheets, and they brought the wrong size. Took 45 minutes for us to get “the right size” which ended up just being flat sheet. For a 4 star hotel and the price we paid, the service was less than exceptional. I’m rarely disappointed with Marriott hotels but this one I won’t be returning to

This is a 3 star hotel advertised as 4. $250 per night with taxes is way too much for it's level. The room had the cheapest coffee maker possible - the one with inserts (motel quality). No phone in the room. Can't open the windows! Had 2 beds and only 2 bath towels. Nice Aveda shower soap, shampoo and conditioner. Vanity area is not convenient - the layout is terrible and it's quite dark. Comfortable bed and pillows is a huge plus. Isn't worth more than $100 per night overall. Parking was $27/day. The breakfast ($19/person) was good with poor variety for 4 stars (no whole milk etc.). There's also a great coffee place right next to the hotel as an alternative. The location is quiet and close to the river. For this price there are plenty of other options nearby. Looking for 4 stars? Look elsewhere.

Held my wedding this summer at the Depot and it went off without a hitch! Not only is the space gorgeous but the event and hotel staff are amazing. Tony is an absolute pleasure to work with - communicative, helpful, and truly made my vision come to life. We had room blocks at both the Depot and the Residence Inn and were supported by Cindy who too was super responsive and had an answer for every question I sent her! In addition to the actual reception venue - the outdoor space, cocktail hour space, and getting ready room are beautiful and spacious. This venue and working with this team helped make my wedding perfect! The hotel itself is also beautiful - all of my wedding guests, including myself, stayed at the hotels. We did not receive one complaint. The rooms are spacious and clean and set in a beautiful, historic location. Not to mention the hotel has a great location close to many fun things to do, and beautiful areas to walk / explore in addition to their own amazing restaurant, bar and clean gym to add a cherry on top of our stay!

The Renaissance Minneapolis is a lovely hotel. The building is beautiful and the rooms are extremely comfortable. The service is excellent (especially Philip the desk clerk). I am quite looking forward to my next stay here.
