Visited Zait & Za'atar on a Saturday afternoon, wanted to try something different. Quiet little corner restaurant. Menu wasn't that big which made it simple to order. The shawarmas were good. I ordered the msakhan chicken, combo- the chicken was seasoned well, tender. Their spicy sauce made it better ($0.50 a cup). The appetizer sampler was okay, I liked the baba ganoush.

Absolutely disgusting and disappointing. We ordered food hoping for authentic Mediterranean food, but instead 1 bite of the schwarma I had to spit it out. It was awful and I could have made a box of rice oroni with chicken cubes for a better tasting meal. It was so gross we threw it away. No authentic flavors. Over cooked rice. Dry chicken with a salad. Definitely sad if people in MN think this is how Mediterranean food is supposed to taste like.

Baby Portions - Big Prices As an Arab family, we were excited to try the shawarma. Unfortunately we were disappointed. These were the smallest shawarma's we have ever been served. Not only were they tiny, but half of it was pickles and not meat. It was obvious that they are trying to give you as little as possible for the money. I will give one star because they put fries in the sandwich (which a lot of restaurants forget to do) and the sauce was ok but it only took a few bites to finish the whole thing so there wasn't' much to savor. Then they charged over 10$ each for just the sandwich, not the meal. Most respectable middle eastern restaurants would be embarrassed if they served you twice as much. I don't like to write bad reviews, but this was just unacceptable. We ended up going to another restaurant after because we felt like we didn't eat anything.

On a whim, my family and I wanted to eat some shawarmas. I recalled this restaurant from my college years and passed by to see it was still in existence and learned it also had new owners. The menu boasts a wide variety of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern dishes such as falafel and beef and chicken shawarmas (we ordered both!) and new additions of Indian fare such as butter chicken. We ordered a side of tabouli, falafel, and then a Beef, Shawarma plate and a Chicken Shawarma plate. My youngest had chicken Shawarma plate as well, but the child size portion. It was clear everything was made fresh and carefully as it took a little time to bring it out, but not inordinately so. They gave us a complementary side of pita bread and fries for being out of fresh fruit. The tabouli was fresh with the perfect. amount of lemon, salt and olive oil added. The two shawarma plates were plentiful with steaming rice and well seasoned meat. A salad with a delicious light dressing, clearly freshly made, also accompanied the dishes. as I don’t eat sugar, they kindly made me a lassi with buttermilk that was refreshing and cool. My daughter had the regular lassi and said it was delicious and refreshing. The restaurant was clean and well organized. I got to talk with one of the owners who brought my daughters ice cream on the house at the end of the experience. We found this small corner eatery to be a perfect afternoon spot for lunch.

Great little Mediterranean spot in Saint Paul. The food came out super quick and the employees were very nice. The falafel and the mint lemonade were especially great. Fair warning, the prices on the website were a little outdated. Regardless, definitely worth trying.

I don't normally like to give low reviews but I was expecting pretty good food with all the high reviews. If you're looking to get chicken shawarma I would rather get Wally's but this One was decent. The Indian food was all right as well, but I would definitely go somewhere else. Not the biggest fan. Definitely so many better places out there!

Great place for Turkish ice cream flavors! I stopped by and asked for cardamom coffee with a baklava on top. It took some convincing of the counter person, but they obliged my request and it was delicious!

We ordered Chaat and dahi puri and savored every bite of it. Finally a place where we can find Karachi-style chaat and puri. The owner was super nice and super hospitable. He even gave us hummus to try (without any extra charges). Even though they serve chaat and puris on weekends only and we arrived half an hour before their closing time, they still accommodated us and prepared chaat and puri for us. Definitely coming here again! Update: Went here again on a week day and it’s not the same any more. Chart doesn’t taste the same and not many options.

the lemon poppy seed (vegan) and ginger & turmeric ice cream were so good! unfortunately our fries and rice lacked seasoning/flavor. the fries in the google photos looked to have some seasoning on it but ours didn't have any. the falafel was very salty and pita was hard as well. maybe it was a hard day in the kitchen ordered? we ordered to-go.

Very nice service and cozy place. Food was good but a little pricey. Definitely okay though with how the economy is currently; will be back!!

This is an updated review. We've returned a second time and the food was just as delicious as the first visit. We got chicken shawarma sandwiches and fries and samosas. This is a must try. The food was absolutely fantastic. I highly recommend if you have never tried chicken shawarma, or if you have tried it.

Came here with a group of seven. The food was beyond delicious and the server was very attentive and accommodating. I got the Chicken Shwarma Plate and Rose lemonade. They were both great! Will definitely come back!

First off the staff so kind I felt like family because they’re so accommodating. They have options for vegetarians and meat eaters, both high quality ….and they have a flower wall that is perfect for pictures! I’d put my name and reputation on it anytime signed respectfully by - Jaz H.

This is a charming place in Minneapolis that we wanted to try based on reviews. We went in for a chicken shawarma and were not impressed by it. It was average at best.

This place was so good. My husband is Arab and I lived in the middle east and we have been searching for specific dishes here in Minnesota. This is the most authentic place we have found. The food was flavorful, cooked perfectly, and spicy without being overwhelming. We definitely recommend the Kushari and sambusa. Also the chai and mint lemonade. The owner was so kind, welcoming, and grateful. We will definitely come back often.

Hands down the best Mediterranean food I've had in all my life! The staff here is what that really made me come back to Z&Z❤️ this location has a great group of people, they are so sweet, wonderful and hard working! The ambience is really peaceful and I thoroughly enjoyed my Shawarma, Falafel and lastly had some ice cream (have a great varieties of ice creams) must give a try.

The Chicken Sandwich was great. I loved the Lemon Poppy Seed and White Chocolate Raspberry Ice Creams. Such a delicious and tasty experience all around. Loved the front end, young energetic staff member you had last Wendsday night. They were so kind and helpful with all of my questions and concerns. Will definitely come again when I am in town again.

It was a good experience, the shawarma was good and my advice to them is to renew the oil for falafel because it gives a better taste and they can raise the price.

Outstanding food!! This place is family owned. Owner is Palestinian and he has his own recipes for a lot of the foods. I got the shawarma with Zaatar fries and it was wonderful. They also have unique Arab flavored ice cream flavors that include cardamom and turmeric. There is 3 other meals on the menu that I haven't tried yet so I'm excited to come back! The owners wife was very welcoming and kindly explained all the ingredients in the food. As an Arab, I highly recommend this place!
