😠 Read the fine print on their contract before signing. Good gym, but really shady subscription handling. I signed up for ONE MONTH, and was told "okay thats fine" by the instructor. I had seen the reviews about them being not forthcoming about payment, so I emailed them to be sure. They THEN told me... People often mention Academy, great, class,

Read the fine print on their contract before signing. Good gym, but really shady subscription handling. I signed up for ONE MONTH, and was told "okay thats fine" by the instructor. I had seen the reviews about them being not forthcoming about payment, so I emailed them to be sure. They THEN told me I'd be paying for a 6 month subscription, and that the only way I'd be able to cancel WITH a 100$ moving suspension fee would be to sign a form online and send them "3 forms of documentation proving that I moved." Well I just found out i've been charged for 2 extra months for 400$ I never made use of, so guess I'm gonna have to go to my bank or take them to small claims court, to try to get my money back.

Appreciated the fact that they answered my call the second time I called so I threw in an extra star. When talking to them over the phone, they refused to give me information about pricing/class schedules. There's no mention of this stuff online either. It's shady that they will not disclose prices and schedules until they get you in the gym. If they weren't ripping people off and being fair about their rates then they should have no problem disclosing that information over the phone and on their website. Every other gym I've inquired has had no issue providing this information. I decided to take my business to a different gym that was more upfront about rates/class schedule.

The Academy is an amazing community of coaches and students looking to better themselves through martial arts. I have had a lot of fun and made many new friends. I would recommend anyone try it out! They are very accommodating so if you are nervous thats okay. Everyone leaves with a smile!

I have only been training here for a month. The classes are very fun and I am excited to go every time. The team is very friendly and the coaches all take time to help me. This school is very famous and successful. My family in California even know about this school. If you think you are interested I suggest trying it out to see!

The foundations introduction class is great for anyone that doesn’t know anything about martial arts & isn’t sure where to begin or even if it’s something they’re physical capable of. I had the wonderful opportunity to do a free intro class with one of the instructors, Shawn. He is welcoming, and creates a wonderful environment of trust & encouragement. A thank you to Matt, as well, for the welcome package and helping make the signup process easy. Highly recommend this program and location.

My journey in BJJ at the Academy has been nothing short of excellent. My journey has had good and caring Shepards; from Coach Nat’s intro class, to Coach John’s warm welcome on my first day in fundamentals, and currently Coach Andy’s strong and unrelenting desire to see his students build their skill and creativity. I feel privileged to be a student here, as it really is a special place. Come and train at The Academy, you see it for yourself.

I started going to the Academy a little over 5 years ago. The Academy has made me a better person, I only wish I started earlier. I feel so lucky to be a part of the Academy! Anyone that’s thinking about it, come in and check it out. See you on the mats.

Dropped in on a BJJ class while traveling for work. As a beginner hobbyist I was a little intimidated walking in the door. I was made to feel welcome the minute I stepped in. Good Culture, high level instruction and overall great experience. No matter what your goals are, or experience level this a great place to train.

I been to gyms all over the United States for the past 10 years and the Academy is the best of the best. Super knowledgeable instructors, clean environment, and a great community of kind and accepting students.

Dropped in visiting in town and looking for a place to practice. The coaches seem top-notch and extremely knowledgeable. It’s a great community they have here--not only welcoming but also somewhere to push each other to get better, which I always appreciate! Thanks again for welcoming me, I will definitely be coming back if I ever move back to the Twin Cities area!
