Wow! We stumbled upon this deli when we were looking at a different place to eat. Having never eaten African food before (aside from a very specific Ethiopian place in DC) we let the man who took our order decide what we should eat. He may have been the owner? He suggested the fufu with rice & chicken and plantains. He gave us a meat pie to try and it was out of this world delicious. We also had Bur (?). It's was a sweet bread roll that was really yummy. My husband had Jaffe rice with chicken. I thought mine was the tastiest! I'm glad we got there when we did because a lot of people came in after us. With so many people we knew we'd found a hidden gem. Very friendly, too! Next time we're in town we'll definitely go back!

They are always very busy but very friendly calm cool and collected during the busyness. It's the best food in the world! Please, if you've never been there before you need to go. Also, just getting spicy greens with spinach rice and turkey neck you can turn that into two or maybe even three meals for the price of $12.50. You just have to go you really do!!!

1st time very good, but I didn't know the menu. Next time getting the fish another customer came in and picked up looked delicious. C-LOC

VERY authentic food in a fast food style setup. Friendly cashier helped me thru my order, the spicy food is actually spicy, I say give it a try.

I had a bad experience w/ African food before this place and I was wary but oh my gosh, this place is SO good. I literally ate it for nearly 2 weeks straight 😅 I always get the spinach with turkey necks and pepper sauce on side. So delicious and flavorful. Now I’m showing all my friends & family this place. 🥰 Just wish they weren’t closed 3 days out of the week 😭

It was just ok. The food was good but the meat was like jerky and it lacked flavor and they charged $2 extra . We got potato greens and peanut butter spinach soup with boneless chicken and shrimp also corn bread, that was no good. Not sure if I'll make the trip back

This place is the best possible restaurant to with your family. I started going to African Deli years ago with my family, and they’ve been nothing but the best. They have never disappointed me, the pepper soup with fufu and palm butter soup is our favorite soups. Man, you gotta try this restaurant and know by yourself. Wow!! I love this restaurant.

Got their Egusi Soup with Beef (SPICY) and fufu: SMACKIN! BUSSIN! BOMB DIGITY! Lol, please try it. I really like how you can add the type of meat you want VS some places already have assorted meat. Definitely will be back to try other entrees.

The food is delicious, has plenty of flavor. They also give you a large portion for the price you pay.

If you've never had African greens go here and get you some right now ( spicy is 2x hotter than American spicy do Keep that in mind while ordering, you can get the spicy sauce on the side and add to your own taste) wow this is long post I just really love this food nothing like it

Great food. Only criticism is that they need more people on the phone. I should t call from 2-6pm and not be able to speak to anyone in that timeframe. I would suggest hiring ppl to work the phones. The food is incredible however, just needs an improvement in phone service.

Food is good, service is really slow. Don't get the cow skin! Cow skin was such a disappointment. It was hard, rough, and tough. Couldn't even eat it. For an extra $3 for cow skin, I would expect it to be soft.

Everything is good except for the fact that they take their phone off the hook during busy times, not allowing for call ahead. It's annoying to drive 20 minutes to get food then have to wait 20-25 minutes for your order. Otherwise, I like them a lot! Staff is very friendly.

Over the course of 10+ years I've been eating here the taste of the food is going down. Patrick and his wife has good customer service but the food is lacking now.

My family loves this place!! We have tried potato greens from other places and it doesn’t compare to the taste we get from African deli!! Needless to say we now travel the extra miles to African deli instead of wasting money elsewhere!! Wish they had more locations because they are the best hands down

Hands down! The best African restaurant in Minnesota. I totally love how they season the food according to each customers taste. I am sold. Keep up the good work 💪💯

Very authentic West African food with reasonable prices for takeout. Variety on the menu: fish, goat, chicken, beef, fufu, rice, plantains, many soups and sauces. Food is on the salty side. Wait time can be a tad long.

The experience was Super... the place was very organized, the item at a very good price... the welcoming... I found what I had been looking for a long time... a eucalyptus plant... nature... bought other flowers still at a good price... I feed it buy, very rich .. supermarket brand.

The food used to taste good when they first started with those women that really knew how to cook African dishes. Nowadays, the food tastes so bad. The soups are tasteless, the red palm oil smells & tastes bad. Hope they can improve or hire good chef again

We had the spinach stew with rice, and it was fantastic. Spicy is definitely spicy, so be prepared! Definitely want to come back here and try more. I see on the menu they have blackeyed peas prepared several ways, which I love, so I plan to come back and try those. The owner is super-friendly, and I had great service.

I’ve always enjoyed meals especially the Afang soup, but the last egusi soup was too bitter. Felt like it was overloaded with bitter leaf. I could not eat it. This is a honest, polite feedback.

The food is top notch, however, you will have to wait. You can forget about calling in an order, they don't answer the phone. Food is excellent though. Busy business most times = GREAT FOOD.

Man up from was very nice, long wait but food will be fresh. Not a fan of the egusi soup and spicy peppered soup. I love goat but the got spicy soup here was too gamey. He also messed up my order and gave me plantain dish. Not sure if I had to pay for it most likely I did. I would’ve known if he gave me a receipt. Best thing here is the plantain bread puff puff.

It is a no thrill take-out only place. The 5-star is for its amazing flavor and value. Their selection is endless, too. My favorite is Fish and Plantain, Potato Green stew with rice. I don't think I care much for the FuFu, but that is solely my opinion.

I ordered Collard Greens and fried chicken wings. The Collards had no seasoning had to come home and season them up. Then I add for a little crisper chicken and it tasted like I was eating bland cracklings

The food was extremely good and the service was exceptional. My friends and I weren't sure what to get (since it was our first time there) and the man at the counter ran us through a kind of checklist on what we might like and got us all dishes that were perfect. I'll definitely be back.

“Fufu and a soup that I did not get the name from. Honestly I did not like the fufu. It’s not the texture part but the taste part. It tasted like mash potatoes into a dough consistency. It had no flavor which I already knew but the potato taste through me off a bit. It said in the menu pounded yam which I thought it was gonna be a little sweet. The soup had goat meat which there were good parts and some very strong parts that questioned my life. The taste was like deer which that was interesting. The fufu and the soup together was good and does not make the soup salty and nothing was overpowering each other. The soup itself was salty. The service was so nice and the facility is clean and colorful. Overall I would come again to the place and try something else but I wouldn’t order this again. 6.5/10. This is my opinion and I do encourage people to try it first before making a judgement on the food.” (Instagram: @sarah_aesthetics20 For more reviews.)

The food here is so good!! well worth the 20 minute drive. You won't be disappointed. The Liberian pepper soup, Equsi and Spinach are my favs.

Chicken thighs and collard greens on rice. Fantastic spice, generous portions. Staff was helpful with my order as it was my first time visiting. Will definitely go back.

Egusi with Goat meat (more like just fat). In the blue circle is the goat meat and in the green circle is straight bone. After noticing the big strip of fat, I got curious to see how much meat I actually had in there. Besides this, the other items we got was delicious.

One of the best food experiences I have had in Minnesota hands down. The eggplant gravy is unreal— so delicious. But I am now on a mission to try every dish on the menu and so far every dish is excellent. Staff have always been very helpful and friendly too.
