If I had the option to put 0 stars I would have. The doctors and nurses were completely rude and incompetent. I wish I had names for the ones involved. We had 2 doctors who came in at different times giving us different updates/information that didn't match with what the other doctor said!!!! I was given the option to take my son home because it wasn't a life or death situation and I was told I could monitor him at home that night. They recommended if I did take him home to come back the NEXT day for a follow-up. So please explain how I was then surrounded by police and nurses who told me I couldn't take him home anymore. I'm not mad about the surgery, I'm moreso mad that for HOURS I had options then because of egos/attitudes they force me to put him in surgery? I will be taking further action, I am sure everything that was done was NOT done by the books. I do not recommend going to this location!!

I am mad and angry. We are dealing with the absolute incompetence and inconsistency of doctors' actions. After re-hospitalization, Maria's treatment is akin to torture. Cancellation of the antibiotic a day after it was prescribed, thereby making the multi-resistant bacteria even stronger. Telling us that if the first urine culture test will be unclear, so they would like to take another one next day. It took as many as 2 days for them to realize that there was not enough material for analysis. And then you know what? They said that there is no need to repeat the analysis, so basically everything that the previous shift physician said doesn't make any sense. And with that they are about to discharge us home. The worst thing is that the doctors admitted that the analysis was canceled only after detailed inquiries. This fact was hushed up, and they brought information that the result was good. Levine Children's Hospital, is this practice normal for you???

Best Kids hospital hands down! Thankful to Dr Bryant and his amazing team that worked with our family to get our baby girl back heart healthy! Child life was absolutely incredible and gentle helping our girl feel comfortable getting her IV. Thank you to all the nurses and staff for being so good to us! So thankful for the care our daughter received.

I have always heard great things about this hospital. My daughter has had a stomach ache on and off for over a year. I made the decision the head 40 minutes away to hopefully get some answers from Levine childrens. I will absolutely never return to the this hospital. We waited 4 hours to be put in a room (I get the wait). We waited exactly 1 hour until someone even came in the room. I was told they probably wouldn’t be able to help me and it would be best if I kept a follow up appointment with my doctor before they even examined my child (10 days away). They did not show any compassion or care for my daughter and I will never return

Perhaps Atrium Health/CHS's greatest medical facility, this is my hospital of origin for me dating back in 2009. Although they have changed over time based on other's opinion and the radical change in healthcare itself; soon long as the efforts remains for the safety and security of children, this place will always be a step above others. Having said that, its still a hospital. Meaning youll get long wait time. clinicians that may not seem to care, and numerous other issues that goes on in hospitals. The solution? Combined effort. You as the parent must work with the nurses and providers to ensure your child's safety. Anxiety stems from the parents and their expectations from all departments is pressured as a result. If you can participate with assistance that does not hinder the ability of others, you may find that this is indeed the hospital you heard great things about at one time or another.

Our 4month old was admired due to RSV. And the triage nurses were some of the most personable nurses we have had we wanted to stay there but then we got admitted to the 7th floor and the nurses were just as great! If we could have Jordan as our nurse for every shift we would’ve but everyone was great. Respiratory nurses were also very caring. I’d recommend this hospital to anyone who felt like everywhere else wasn’t listening to their motherly instincts. From the ICU doctor telling us that our voice is the most important to them listening when I asked for things to change in the plan. Take your infant here.

I absolutely love them, not enough good words to say!!!!! I don’t know where do I even begin. I went to urgent care, 2 other emergency rooms and was not helped. When we came to Levines, every single nurse and every single step of the way was such a wonderful experience and they made me feel like everything is going to be okay. Our baby James, recovered after 3 days with all the help of the nurses and doctors. Very appreciated !!!! I am very thankful we were sent to this hospital! Love you guys! Thank you!

Jackie along with many of the nurses and specialists were incredible. Jackie went above and beyond making sure my daughter and I were both taken care of. She demonstrates the core values and ethics of her profession. Now on to the bad. HOW does the lab “lose” a pee sample. There are several protocols in place to ensure things like that doesn’t happen. How do you just lose it and then not even tell my child’s nurse about it. But you wait for her to call asking for an update and THEN tell her oh yeah it’s lost. Now this wouldn’t have been a big deal had it not been for the fact that the pee sample had to be done before my baby could get started with antibiotics. So we waited until we got the sample sent off to do the antibiotics but by the time we were told the sample was lost she had already received the antibiotics thus rendering any other ineffective on telling us what was wrong since the antibiotics killed it off. Was my child’s pee sold to somebody needing clean pee for their job? Is it sitting in another patient ms room? How do you lose a sample? Now after 3 days I still don’t know what was wrong with my child!! MISTAKES CAN NOT HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE DEALING WITH PEOPLES LIVES. When discussing this either Dr Brock Meeker he stated “well we don’t know if the sample would have told us anything”. Well we also don’t know if it would have either! When saying this, the other lady he was with whose name I forgot but will for sure remember or find out cause I want her outed as well. She thought it would be ok to remind me that she and Brock are not admin so telling them what happened is basically a waste of time. I don’t care if it’s a waste of time, my child’s time was wasted when someone dropped the ball. Why defend someone’s wrong doing then get upset when I explain how their actions affected my child and I. I will be emailing every single person I can find who has an atrium health email and in a position of power so this never happens again and that consequences are actually given out.

Our 13 month old daughter came down with a terrible case of RSV and the Doctors and nurses were amazing. We ended up being admitted on the 10th floor overnight and we cannot say enough good things about the staff. The ER nurses, doctors, and residents were exceptional. They listened to our concerns and were very proactive. The 10th floor nurses were amazing and we had wonderful care. They treated our daughter like she was their own. Although our plan was not to stay at the hospital, we are thankful it was there. Thank you Levines!!!

The wait time was long. We were there for about 7 hours (440am-12pm). Seemed as if the staff was dragging out the time until the next shift came in. When I proposed leaving after waiting 5 hours I was told I’d need to sign an AMA. I could hear the nurses talking about patients and their parents while in our “room”. The nurse doing my 4 y/o nose swab went too far up her nose. My daughter’s heart rate was high at check in and I wasn’t told until about 7 hours later while waiting in the room for results. They lost my daughter’s urine sample for her ordered urinalysis, so they cancelled it without notifying me. When I called for results no one knew why it was cancelled and there was no “paper trail” per the ED supervisor. She was compassionless and unhelpful.

Nurses are great and very kind but front desk could do way better and be more courteous. Expect to wait 4-5 hours if not more for your child to be seen. Not to mention most of your time is spent in the waiting room, about 4 hrs top in the waiting room for me at least, and an hour long in the actual room I was called into. I had to leave eventually because I was starting to feel sick to my stomach. Recommend taking your kids to Shelby hospital instead

They are a great facility with caring doctors who include you in their decision making. When my child was having pseudo seizures they explored every option to rule out any other neurological problems just had the best experience with them.

This is one of the worst experiences I’ve had at a hospital ever. They are a children’s hospital operating during a pandemic and they provide absolutely no separation for patients waiting. Sick and well babies are all jam packed into the waiting room, no sanitizing measures were taken. After being in the waiting room for my daughters injured arm for over 2 hrs we were finally taken to a closet for the doctor to pop her arm back into place ( a procedure which took about 2 minutes and required no diagnostic testing). The bill for entering the facility was $2500 (the words of the billing specialist) so no matter what you have done there be ready for a minimum of a $2500 bill. After leaving the hospital, my daughter became sick within 48 hrs and required another visit to the doctors to be diagnosed with the flu which she obviously got from this insanely poorly run emergency department. If you call to complain they will just spew excuses when in my opinion their job is to protect our children and if children come out in worse condition than when they came in the are not doing their job. Please do what you can to take your child to a different emergency room. I know many times we are in no position to think about which place to take out children in these situations but if you can choose somewhere else please do.

This review is for their emergency room. Loose communication between staffs. Most of them did not really know what’s going on and did not provide any updates other than ask us to wait. Doctors are professional but they did not provide “EMERGENCY “ service in a timely manner. It took us 4 hours to finally get an ultrasound and it’s in a different part of the hospital while they have radiation rooms right in the ER. We appreciate the sergeant that took care of my son’s problem, she knows what she’s doing. But the process of loose communication and not caring about how patient and family feels is absolutely unpleasant and I can not recommend this emergency facility unfortunately. 2 stars is for the doctors

Everyone, and I mean everyone, at Levine Children’s are angels in human form. From the doctors and nurses to the receptionists and security guards to the shuttle drivers. We spent two months in the NICU with my son and they saved his life. I’ll never forget the kindness and compassion from them as well as the medical skill. Your child will be In wonderful hands at Levine’s.

Levines was amazing for the emergency our son had following a fall that gave him a concussion. Treated us all with kindness and respect and went above and beyond for his care. Thankful to have such a wonderful hospital so close to us! Dr Van Popple and nurse Courtland and nurse David were the very best.

I would like to thank Levine Children for making my baby boy birthday so wonderful. Just to say the least baby boy had a follow up with his cardiologist this morning and he was not a happy camper. We received wonderful results and they made sure to shower him with gifts before he left. Levine has always showed Junior compassion and excellent care. Thank you Levine Children Hospital.🥰

Had the worse experience today with my new NICU social worker. It’s hard to keep employment that excepts trips to the hospital as often as needed. It’s even harder without reliable transportation. I asked for a gas card and I was basically pushed off. I was on the bridge with no go trying to make it to the hospital. Poor planning I know but the fact that I was told it was for families in need had me astonished. How much worse off do I have to be to actually receive it? Thumb out?

My son (3) had heart surgery here on May 2022. The ICU care was excellent and the nurses were so kind and attentive. Allison in particular was phenomenal. They gave snacks and toys and did everything they could to make him comfortable. I also love how doctors talk together to make the best care plan instead of just one deciding. 10/10

Great Staff, from doctors to nurses and even the valet. Everyone was so welcoming and really set both myself and my daughter's minds at ease. We went from a tummy ache to needing surgery. That could have been a very difficult ordeal but I really felt supported throughout the entire process. I would say the construction currently going on sucks and made it very difficult to maneuver around and figure out where we needed to be initially. So for someone who's never been there, we definitely got lost in the beginning.

The care I received at the Children’s Hospital, was very professional. All the staff members were courteous and very friendly. My daughter was definitely in good hands and I would recommend this hospital to any family that required a surgical procedure. The accommodations for parents was also comfortable and clean.

My son has dealt with stomach issues for years now and Levines is the only place that actually gave us some answers. The doctors and nurses were fantastic and gave great care to my son. I love 3 hours from Levines and would rather drive 3 hours every time then to ever deal with any other hospitals again. We are extremely please and would 100% recommend Levines.

We came to Levine Children's Hospital from our of state for our son. He is autistic, but I don't think that mattered at all with how we were treated. From the emergency department waiting room, to the ER, to upstairs.... We were treated so kindly, and everyone we interacted with was top-notch!! I am so thankful for the care we received, and just wish all hospitals were like this one!

All thought this is the last place anybody wants to be I will say that I'm very happy we ended you at Levine's Children Hospital. Drs and nurse are very knowledgeable and take time to answer any and all questions you may have. Even tell you what to expect when medications are given. They make all that medical lingo easy for us without a PhD to understand. I feel confident in saying that you can rest assured that you, your child, or a loved one, will be in very capable hands at Levine's!

Everyone was fantastic at the hospital for my boy’s cardiac procedure. Special Thank you to Dr. Randall Bryant and his team, Atrium Health Levine Children’s Hospital nursing team, our fantastic Nurse Jamie and Dr. Leonardo Martinez, anesthesiologist, for the gift of giving me back a healthy boy for Christmas!

The child life team is excellent and fun and loving. They have lots of cool Christmas crafts that my daughter did. The medical team was accommodating to my concerns. While I was there, I didn't see any med students which cut down on the amount of people who came into my daughter's room. Levine Children's Hospital has the hospitality gift. Anyways, I made the housekeeping staff put in a work order for our bathroom tiles because the black stuff on the floor. The manager came and looked at it. They didn't want to use any harsh chemicals while we were staying in the hospital. I sprayed NATURAL disinfectant spray in the bathroom that I had with me. Taking turns, we used our flip flops in the shower🚿. Hopefully that took care of it before renting that room out to anyone else. It's the 8th floor and room # 8005. It's literally right by the RN'S station. Yes, we went through culture shock because we came from a different hospital over 2 hours away. Well, just look past the medical corruption that's happening behind the scenes and focus on the positives. We've collected many friends there. God bless Levine Children's Hospital. 🥳🎊🎉🥳

My daughters care team was absolutely amazing! They all showed great love, care, and comfort to my child as well as myself and family. They were very knowledgeable about what was going on and my child’s specific needs, and all questions were answered very promptly. I was once a pediatrician patient at Levine’s too, about 13 years ago. Even then my care team and staff were awesome!

I have had a wonderful experience with the whole crew. My primary provider at CaroMont Pediatrics was someone who I’d grown to respect and trust but that somewhat waned when my son began exhibiting some symptoms that I felt were pretty hallmark of a certain health issue. My primary provider was very dismissive, his CMA went as far as to say that my son didn’t need to be at his visit, and I was given many half hearted, insincere consolations until I adamantly insisted on a pulmonology referral. I’m a registered nurse with an emergency department background. If I… being a healthcare provider… was treated this way, I cannot imaging the discomfort the general public would have to go through before getting answers. Dr. Cleary at Levine Children’s knew exactly what was wrong and validated that I wasn’t some crazy, hyper-vigilant momma. My intuition was right. Because he listened and because of his expertise, my son is now receiving the treatment he needs.

Best hospital in the world! My daughter broke her arm and had surgery. We stayed one day but I've never felt better at a hospital in my whole life. They made my daughter feel comfortable and took very good care of her. Drs. And nurses were amazing. I'm so grateful she ended up there rather than any where else. When we left the hospital my daughter ended up with a teddy bear a nice blanket a bag of goodies and everything she needed to take home to make her journey easier. I would recommend this hospital to every child and parent. It's hard enough seeing your child in pain or suffering but they made it that much better.

My son was diagnosed with a Heart defect when I was 20 weeks pregnant.. The labor was ok only thing I didn’t like was whoever scheduled me at 10am and rushed me to have my baby before 9-10pm that night, they were pressuring me to take pitocin to speed the process up and I wasn’t going AT ALL! I don’t understand why not have my induction time like maybe 4am or even 6am. So I just did the foley ballon and breaking of the water and he was here 10pm, besides that my labor nurse that night was nice and very helpful. Now, the nicu was ok we kept having issues with nurses turning off the nicview camera which sucked because we were worried sick.. You don’t do that to parents of a child with serious health issues especially when we can’t be there with our child 24/7! My Fiancé had issue with a nurse because he didn’t like her touching without gloves on.. Which is understandable because who’s to say she washed and uses hand sanitizer all the time.. She caught an attitude with him because he asked her nicely “Can you wear gloves” see me if you were to ask me to put gloves on as the parent of that child I would put gloves on no problem! They’re the parents and they feel uncomfortable with you using bare hands.. What’s the issue? Just put gloves on.. One nurse put a sensor on our son’s foot so tight it was swollen.. I had to take it off! Smh. Besides those few everyone else was nice in the NICU.. I want to shout out the surgeon Dr. Maxey and the whole surgical team for my son. He was honest, straightforward and took care of our son like he said he would and I’m so grateful to that whole team.. I would also like to shout out some nurses we had so far on the CVICU.. Melody, Karen, Beth, Katelynn and Rebecca they were very nice and sweet would answer any questions we had, didn’t make it seem we were annoying them at all. Very knowledgeable and understanding and helpful..They took care of my son & very gentle with him and I will always be grateful to Them! One nurse rubbed me the wrong way was CVICU nurse Tracy tried to give my newborn baby cold breastmilk straight out of the fridge! No MA’AM! And a NP in the CVICU Katie she was not friendly or welcoming neither Otherwise CVICU is awesome everyone else was nice to us and helpful.. The CVICU made up for the other experiences I had with the other branches.. The progressive care floor is ok.. The speech lady has an attitude and a week after my son surgery he has a weird grunting sound when breathing at times and chest wall retraction at all times and NOONE can give me a straight answer as to why it’s happening or what it is causing it and how it’s going to be taken care of! Some of the nurses on this floor ignore your thoughts and concerns and don’t even let you finish talking, “Dismissive” is the word ..The nurse Jamie on 8th floor will force pacifiers on your newborn child end up making them throw up! Some nurses on 8th floor don’t respect your wishes as far as putting a mask on , washing hands and wearing fresh gloves when dealing with the patient!

I personally don't understand how there are bad reviews. My 4m old daughter came here for heart surgery and she was down here for a few weeks prior and everyone was so caring they care about their jobs they have empathy and connect on a level of actual care. Not like the doctors at most places that "care". No they REALLY care. Everyone loved my daughter we were treated so well they have amazing food and they had a game room and play room for the kids. Honestly at first I was worried becuase you know that's my child and I was scared about her having surgery but she was taken such good care of I wasn't as worried about the surgery. I cannot express how amazing this hospital has been. If your worried, don't be they have it . Honestly the hospital we came from was just awful compared they were losing things and all the nurses were rude but I've never seen a place that makes you feel SO welcomed. Thank you lavines. If we ever need anything else we are driving back here and I think I'm going to have my future kids here it's a 3 hour drive but so worth it. I will be sending postcards 🥰 I love a place were EVERYONE is friendly. Didn't meet a single rude person nurse or doctor.
