This hotel is awful. I never write bad reviews but people need to be aware. The bistro was not open nor we were told prior. The rooms were outdated and dirty. Our toilet overflowed with urine and water and wasn't attended to for hours. Our room smelled like urine and we had 2 children with us. Our pillows were dirty with stains. The towels were not very clean. The entire hotel smelled like Marijuana with many people in and out of rooms that were clearly not guests. When traveling to buy our own food since nothing was available the front desk was dumb founded when I asked for paper plates and silverware. No luggage carts were available.

Really not up to the standards one expects at a Marriott property. This is an old hotel that has been remodeled except they forgot to replace the carpet. You can hear your neighbor talking because the walls are thin and your hear outside traffic going by all night. Its not the usual Marriott experience. The upside is the staff are friendly.

I'm an early riser, so I appreciate a nice, complementary fresh cup of coffee and continental breakfast in the morning to get me out the door. Give me access to a waffle maker and I'm living large! This hotel doesn't do that. They have "The Bistro" where breakfast is "available for purchase". The remote for the TV didn't work and the AC had a musty smell. Staff replaced the remote, put a couple of deodorant tablets in the AC and offered to give us a different room. Very helpful & friendly staff. Has a nice, modern look with large rooms, excellent bedding and lots of USB connectors for charging your gizmos. Overall, an OK place to stay. Add a complementary danish & a cup of joe and I'd give it 5 stars. As it stands, 4 stars and a trip to Waffle House where breakfast is available for purchase.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! When we woke up, we were billed $60 more than agreed to. We had a letter under the door saying THEY made a mistake and we were being charged 50% more than agreed upon. We'll be contacting the BBB and local township. This is illegal activity.

The staff was friendly and accommodating the pool was clean. The overall place was clean. The only downside is no drawer space but still worth the visit. Spent 1 week and would definitely go back. The hotel is in an area where everything was accessible and a short ride to anything you need.

Very poor quality for being billed as a 3 star hotel. Outdated room, poorly functioning ac, completely uncaring staff, and the "bar/bistro" is a starbucks counter with 2 choices of bottled beer or wine that has been open for god knows how long. Save your money and go to a Motel 6, the seevice and quality will be just as "good".

This hotel has went down the drain! Musty smell in hallways. Room smelled faintly of smoke. Bistro is still closed but they advertise they have one. The worst part of our experience was housekeeping banging on our door at 8 AM in the morning and waking us up, yelling Housekeeping! There were no signs to put on your door handle so they went down the floor banging on doors and yelling housekeeping! Then as if that wasn’t enough, they were singing very loudly. I called down to the front desk and let them know how loud they were and to please keep down the noise. That didn’t help anything. 30 min later they were still singing. I finally packed up my stuff and left. I stopped by the front desk and spoke with a male manager on the way out and complained again about how loud they were and that we did not appreciate being woke up. All he said was I’m sorry, I told them to keep the noise down. He knew I was leaving because of the noise and he did nothing to make it right. Poor management all the way around. I wish I had read all these awful reviews before booking a hotel here. This hotel is ruining the Marriott name. Time to get a new manager and do a deep cleaning of this hotel!

I live in VA and stay here frequently to visit my son and his family. This is the first time I have been disappointed. I pay extra to stay here because I have like it so much. To minimize cost, I bring food. The refrigerator in my room was not working. I did not realize it and lost my food. I mentioned it at the front desk and they just took a note. No apology nothing. I’m a little surprised. I don’t think it will deter me from staying g again as I hope this is a one off deal.

We loved the location. We got there on Friday evening. When we come back to hotel late Saturday night no clean towels. Garbage still in room. We ask at desk they said cleaning did not work that day???? Maybe they should charge me less! Also had a teenage party and they played loud music & run up and down the hall. I stayed in courtyard 2 hours from here & had animals made with my towels every day. Please make yours customers comfortable.

Toilet backed up twice...not much waste either! I was able to remedy the problem myself however.

I was not informed about breakfast when I checked in. The room was dingy and old looking. No water pressure. The AC clicked and popped all night, so I didn't get much sleep. In the morning when I checked out, I told the person at the front desk about the issues. The person didn't seem to care at all. Then, I asked where the coffee was and I was told the bistro would open soon and I could buy some. What kind of hotel doesn't have coffee in the lobby?! So then I went about my long day of work on just a couple hours of sleep and no coffee.

I just got my credit card bill for a two night stay in September. I booked via the number on the hotel’s website. When I arrived, I questioned the price. They claimed a reserved via a booking company. I did not! I booked via the number on their website, a local number. Anyway, they assured me I would be billed ~$120 the first night and ~$89 for the second. I just received my credit card bill. Over $400! Clearly I can’t trust Marriott and will never stay at one again.

Common areas and room furniture are nice, modern, and clean. Staff are really helpful and I appreciated that they were flexible about late checkout. Not all amenities were open and the hotel seemed understaffed; beds could be comfier, and the hallways could stand to be updated. The snack area in the lobby was nice, though. Overall, not at all a bad place to stay!

First off, the room was fantastic. It was clean, spacious, and had all the amenities I needed. The attention to detail in the room's design and cleanliness really stood out. Now, let's talk about customer service. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel right at home. They were friendly, helpful, and went above and beyond to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Overall, I can't recommend the Courtyard by Marriott Charlotte Matthews enough. It truly represents the Marriott brand in an excellent way. If you're looking for a comfortable room and exceptional customer service, this is the place to stay.

The whole hotel was pretty mediocre. I chose it because it was right by the Sportsplex. I was able to walk there so that was great but otherwise it was not the best. The room was very small. We had a room with a king bed and sofa bed. We had to move the couch several feet to fit the bed in the room. There was trash under the bed from previous guests. The bathroom was a good size but desperately needed to be updated, it felt dirty. The pool was very small and scratched up my daughter's foot. (I did inform the front desk. It bled a lot). We didn't know there was a continental breakfast until our last morning there but it looked very small. The onsite Starbucks that they advertise was very limited offerings but my caramel macchiato was made perfectly. If I needed to go to the sportsplex again I would consider staying there just because of the proximity but I wouldn't stay there for any other reason.

This place was amazing! The rooms were clean and comfortable, everything was well stocked and worked perfectly. Much of it was thanks to the wonderful Erin at the front desk, who was incredibly helpful and kind during my entire visit and honestly provided some of the best customer service of any hotel i have ever been to (she wasn't bad to look at either 😉). I was very pleased with my stay and would definitely stay here again.

I usually book at this location in Matthew's when I am in the Charlotte area. I have visited this location several times within the past year. Unfortunately, the service has become atrocious. The bar tender does not know how to pour a draft beer, speaks in a very unprofessional way, and no one who works here says "Thank you" much at all. The hotel guests are paying your bills, so please be happy you have customers. Recently, I accidentally forgot my hotel room card in my room. I went to the front desk, and the attendant became agitated that I forgot my key. I apologized and said thank you. She gave me a disdained look and said nothing while I grabbed my new card. Why are service providers like this? This is your job! Stop giving people bad looks and being rude for simply existing. I have now stopped booking this location every month due to the rude service.

We enjoyed our short visit to this hotel. Shanelle was at the front desk and so friendly in her manner with us. We saw her deal with problems that were out of her control with flair and humor. The lady behind the Starbucks this morning was friendly and welcoming as well.

Beautiful hotel and spacious rooms and bathroom. The only issue is that the small tv didn't fit this type of room. Front desk professional and friendly. It's definitely a nice place to stay, and I will recommend it!

Overall the hotel is nice with updated finishes but you can tell it is an older hotel. The bathroom in the room I was in really needed an update... peeling paint in the tub, old shower head with pink mold, no water pressure in the sink

Fantastic staff at this hotel, but a poor hard product. My first room had a noisy air conditioner, the staff moved me and it was better but still loud. Small TVs and damaged room windows didn't help. Woke up during night by neighbors slamming doors. While the location of his hotel is great, there's better properties nearby.

Nice hotel, but I would suggest they put some local area info in the rooms. Also, info regarding hours for gym, pool, & most importantly, the bar & Starbucks would be helpful .

Almost always a good experience that's why I opted for this particular hotel. The only thing negative I can say about this stay was that the microwave did not work but I did not report it because I knew I was only staying one night. They also had a tub which was a nice to be able to soak and relax and the pictures don't show you that depending on where your booking from.

Not impressed. Disgusted even. The room smelled SO bad. Like BAD bad. I’m going to have to machine wash my duffel bag because it came home smelling that way. Had to have been a smoking room too. Even though we were promised a non-smoking. The tub blocked up immediately and the water sitting in the tub was brown. Not to mention the exposed pipes that looked like they were barely hanging on under the sink. No thank you.

Old hotel with lots of lipstick to dress it up. Our window was completely frosted over from moisture between the panes. Room had a very musty smell and we couldn't get the AC to cool the room. Convenient location though.

Hotel was very weathered. Complimentary breakfast was terrible and drinks were ridiculously expensive at the bar ($18 for a glass of wine). We were meant to have a king bed and a sofa bed, we had one queen and no sofa-bed. The only real positive this hotel has is the staff who are very friendly and welcoming.

The check-in host was great. The room, not so much. It was supposed to be an executive suite (?). Room was clean, but the toilet ran all night, shower had peeling caulk, AC not cooling very well. We would have been better off saving our money and getting an economy room.

Thank you for the excellent stay. It was a real pleasure and we would like to extend our gratitude to the staff who supported our needs as best as possible. We booked through a third party - so there were factors, and unfortunately consequences, that were set in stone long before the trip occurred. Regardless - the Staff at Matthews Courtyard Marriott were patient, professional, courteous, and exemplary in every way possible. For this we could not be happy enough.

Room was clean and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We went downstairs for breakfast and had the absolute best time chatting with Ms/Mrs Roshella at the breakfast bar. She provided exceptional customer service and made sure we had everything we needed. She definitely deserves a bonus. 🤗 I really enjoyed my stay.

The standards for Courtyards have gone down over the years. Been a loyal Marriott customer for more than 10 years, at least till now. No housekeeping service during my 4 day trip. No trash pick up. I request new towels and never got a response. The lat night a roach ran across the floor of our room. We were moved there from the original selection because the first choice was no longer affiliated with Marriott. Need to find out who they switch too and become a loyal member of them. Will not return and perhaps we won’t be using Marriott’s anytime soon.

When we checked in, we were told the bistro had a complimentary breakfast in the morning. Guess that was just a lie? The only options available were $9 breakfast sandwiches that did not look appetizing. The hallways of this hotel smell like burnt feet. The shower in the room smelled of mold and was not ventilated at all. Overall, the whole place has a musty feeling that is not welcoming. The sheets were like construction paper. Unlikely that we stay here ever again. Beware!

I came in late from plane and my room was already given away. I didn't know this since I was given the key to my son's father's room and I walked in on him asleep!! When I went back down to get my actual room. The lady told me first, well you two will have to work it out .. what?? Then said there was no other room and did I wanna pay for a new one?? I said yes since it's 430 am. She took my card and after a few minutes comes back to tell me they were actually sold out!! Weeks later I found a payment on my card for the room!! Still haven't gotten it back..

Amazing stay. The staff was awesome. Georgia was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We travel with a party of 15-20 multiple times a year and i can 100% say this was the best stay we have have had and it would not have been possible without Georgia. Highly recommend!
