Friends recommended this spot and I can't believe it took me so long to try it. My husband and I tried two larges with: - Mango Passion Fruit Cheesecake - Fig and Orange - Green Apple Caramel - Peach Cobbler They were all fantastic. Mango Passion Fruit Cheesecake was definitely my favorite, but I'd get any of them again. This is definitely my favorite gelato in the Charlotte area and it's one of my favorite frozen treat spots as well (ice cream, etc). I'll be back next time I'm in Charlotte!

Love this place! Allergy free gelato, which is really hard to find! The employees were courteous and were all wearing masks, which I greatly appreciated since I have a compromised immune system. The gelato is fantastic! My hubby got Brownie and Salted Caramel. I got Mint Chocolate Chip. It was perfect. Super creamy and the chocolate was more like shaving than chips, so it didn't feel like it was going to break your teeth. It melted instantly in your mouth. I also got the chocolate dipped cone which was also fantastic. Run, do not walk to Artisan! You won't regret it!

Nice gelato. Lots of flavors. We were there later at night and they were still friendly and accommodating. They were steadily experiencing a good flow of business later on a Wednesday night. They had indoor and outdoor seating options. Another plus is you could sample items before commuting. lol They also had a great variety of sorbet. They topped the order with little waffle rounds. That allows for the best of both worlds - the dish and the cone. There was also a good variety of cones to choose from. Dipped and plain. We were visiting from out of state and glad we ran across the store.

MUST TRY if you’re vegan, gluten free/Celiac, dairy free, or have nut allergies. The staff was fantastic, and the gelato was delicious! My wife ended up with Key Lime and I had the Chocolate Orange, but each flavor we tried was excellent. I haven’t been able to have a waffle cone since middle school due to Celiac, and the gluten free cones were a treat. I can’t recommend Artisen enough!

This place is great no matter what flavor you choose. Get it in either a cup or a cone. Mix it up and do two scoops of different flavors it does matter, hands down, delicious. Recommend the fig and orange and the cookie dough.

The family loves this place. The people who work here are so patient and kind in letting you try their flavors before choosing. They are all so good. You can't even tell the Gelato is allergen-free (no nuts, no dairy, etc). I don't know how they do it but it's all so yummy!

Really great gelato place for those with allergies! They had some interesting flavors and some oldies but goodies: my favorite is fig and orange. I haven't had that combination before and it has a nice balance of tartness and sweetness with chunks of fig. The space seems a little big for what it is, but works great for social distancing! Would 100% come back when I visit.

First of all… WOW! Absolutely fantastic service. They have attentive and knowledgeable staff members! Love how this is the only Gelato place I’ve ever been to that is gluten , dairy, treenut, dye free! I tried the mango , coffee, mint, cookie dough flavors and they were all amazing. So refreshing and felt really good afterwards! Way better and healthier than milk icecream! Also gluten free waffle cones ? Wow! Please open up in Dallas , TX!

Delicious and fresh gelato. You can taste before purchasing. The bonus was Gluten-free ice cream cones. I hadn't had an ice cream cone in years. I highly recommend this place. A little pricey but you get what you pay for.

I went to this vegan ice cream shop for the first time last month and it was fantastic! Clean, well lit, spacious, and really comfortable seating. Super clean, right down to the bathroom. The young woman who waited on us was the perfect combination of efficiency & friendliness, and she was able to answer questions about the different ice creams. I got one that tasted exactly like peach cobbler from a mainstream ice cream shop, except it was vegan. Very yummy, refreshing, and wonderful. My partner got a black raspberry and couldn't stop raving about it! It is a great find and so good that we will definitely go back even though we don't live near Matthews. Check it out whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or a carnivore. The ice cream is that good, whether in a dish or a cone. Neither you nor your taste buds will be disappointed.

Great place for vegans and gluten free folks who want to enjoy gelatos without any objectionable ingredients. My only complaint with this place is customer service. The lady was not friendly at all and we did not feel welcome in the place. If they improve on service they will be so much better. Nice ambience inside and the place is clean.

Super cute place! The customer service was great. They have a variety of flavors. We were asked if we wanted to sample any flavors and the lady was very kind. The place is spacious and clean. My family and I enjoyed ourselves.

So many things to love about Artisen Gelato! Lots of flavors to choose from but my absolute favorite is the MANGO!!!! Tastes like you are eating a fresh mango :) Love the fact the everything is vegan and dairy free. The owners are very gracious and engaging. You will always feel welcomed.

I love that they have allergy friendly options without lacking the deliciousness factor. They are so many yummy options to choose from! One of our family favorites is the Dulce de Leche :) Location was clean and adorably decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful when answering questions for customers that aren't sure of which flavor to pick.

We took our kids to Artisen Gelato. This was the first time they were able to walk up to the counter, order whatever they want (chocolate dipped sprinkle cone included), and enjoy. Thank you for making allergen free treats that can be enjoyed by more people! We will definitely be back for more gelato. Also, excited about trying a gelato cake for celebrating birthdays, etc.

Overjoyed and thrilled to have this place in our community. Our family is dietary needs require dairy-free and gluten free for significant medical reasons and there's usually no place to go and enjoy dessert together. I can't describe how fantastic the gelato tastes either. But I'll try! I've never even tasted ice cream with so much true to life flavor, and I've eaten it in many countries. Each bite is spot on whether you're getting espresso, strawberry, or a lemon meringue pie. It actually tastes like the real food in gelato form. A delight every time. Not to mention how wonderfully friendly the staff is every day. Go try it! I get my birthday gelato cake from them every year now.

Great dairy free and gluten free gelateria. They have a wide variety of Gelato with rotating flavors, sorbet, ice cream cakes, and gluten free cookies, cake pops, and brownies. The staff is friendly and the store is roomy with seating inside and out. It is quite close to downtown matthews for a nice stroll too.

Their sign says old fashioned gelato. Which is a lie because they don’t use eggs or dairy. So it’s not gelato. It tastes like plastic, and why wouldn’t it? They don’t use real ingredients. Wish I had realized before buying. It’s vegan garbage. Why can’t they just claim it instead of trying to make it seem like real gelato.

I absolutely love this place. I can't do gluten and dairy. So it's always hard to find a place that has more than 1 option and that has gluten free cones. I sometimes drive 30 minutes just to have ice cream. I got one of my good friends stuck on it and then she took her boyfriend who has a nut allergy. This is so awesome. Thank you for having options for us that can't do regular ice cream.

Had the blueberry cheesecake, strawberry, cookie dough and mint chocolate chip flavors in one waffle bowl and every single flavor was amazingly good. Well worth the short walk from downtown Matthews.

I loved this little spot. All products are gluten-free! The cookies were a little too sweet but the brownies and waffle cones were really good. They have a large variety of gelatos. Can’t wait to try them all. Cute spot and plenty of room.

We visited this place today, Amazing so clean the young lady was so nice we will be returning. I homeschool my boys and we learned all things Italy and I wanted to take them to a local Gelato shop and this place was perfect.

Honestly THE best gelato we’ve had outside of Italy! It is SO fresh and tasty, and the fact that it’s made from coconut milk instead of dairy is a HUGE plus for my dairy sensitive kids. The owners/workers are so kind and really do care about customer satisfaction. They let you sample before you purchase, and the price points are awesome as well. I absolutely recommend this gem of a gelato store! *Another bonus is that their products are 100% vegan, but you would never know because it all tastes so, so good!🤤🤤

The make you feel like family and help you find the one for you. Wonderful people. Back to the gelato...it's vegan! It tastes like the most scrumptious, delectable, guilty pleasure sweet treat you've ever had but without the bad unhealthy stuff. Crazy! Hands down our favorite. I'm a fan of the raisins and rum, and as of today I add the pear and rum...there's a pattern here...different story! Go alone or take your crew, you won't regret it.

Every flavor that my daughter and I have tried has been delicious! We drive all the way from central Charlotte, past a dozen ice cream stores, because we prefer Artisen.

Loved it so much I've gone back every day since. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. They let you sample all of the flavors, and give heaping scoops. Toasted coconut is phenomenal, tart key lime pie, EGGNOG divine heaven flavor. Lemon is true to flavor, fig and cheese is unique and tasty. The owners and employees are all so bright and friendly. Absolutely adore this place. Oh and they have free wifi so you can come geek out while you enjoy dairy free, gluten free, dye free, peanut free, treenut free gelato.

Great gelato and what makes it even better is 100% of the flavors have a coconut milk base. So it makes them all dairy-free. When you have children with a dairy allergy, places like this are true treasures, and extremely rare. If you aren't picking up what I'm putting down, try telling a 6-year-old they can't have ice cream a million times over and you will quickly see how important a place like this is to have close by! The owners (husband and wife) are absolutely lovely people and I hope they can stay afloat with enough support to keep doing what they are doing. By the way, this a family-owned and operated establishment, and all the gelato is hand-made on-site by the owners.
