The best cinnamon roll in all of Kansas City! My husband ordered the tamale in a bowl and it was, hands-down, one of the best breakfast dishes I've ever tried. A very mom-and-pop type of place with cool city, neighborhood vibes. Gotta try this place. One of a kind. You won't find another place in Kansas City like it.

We LOVE You Say Tomato! The food is absolutely delicious, made from scratch, with fresh ingredients they pull right from the case in front of you. We have never had anything here that wasn't glorious! Even the Chai and Cappuccinos are delish! Our favorite is the Croissant Sandwich and Flatbread pizza, both are outstanding,oh and of course the Cinnamon rolls! Sundays there is always a line and it's small ,so it looks like you won't get a seat, but just be patient, one always seems to open up as your are waiting for your food! It's our fave breakfast in KC!

You have to get the biscuit and mushroom gravy! Seriously, such a cute quaint little spot that's part grocery part restaurant. I've only been for brunch but ended up staying for hours. It's so comfortable and friendly, very contrast to all the busy places around KC!

A not so hidden gem. I've never seen it not teetering on the edge of being full, but I've never had to wait for a table. The service is quick, friendly, and as personable as you'd like. The food is all from scratch, with unique flavors that are done well. It was a neighborhood grocery store in the 20s and has kept all of its charms while bringing a vibrant, cool touch through the use of hand-made designer metallurgy (made by a co-owner) and a vast array of well-tended greenery. It's truly a local spot that will never disappoint.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at You Stay Tomato and I must say, it was an incredible experience. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a lovely ambiance that set the tone for the rest of my meal. I had the Quiche with the Mexican coffee and I was blown away by the incredible flavors! The quiche was perfectly baked, with a flaky crust and a delicious filling that was both creamy and savory. And the Mexican coffee was a real treat – rich, bold and the perfect complement to the quiche. The service at You Stay Tomato was top-notch. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, making recommendations that really hit the spot. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable, and I felt right at home as soon as I walked in the door. Overall, I give You Stay Tomato a resounding five stars. From the outstanding food and drinks to the warm and friendly service, this restaurant truly exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend giving it a try – you won't be disappointed!

This place isn't even about the food, which is great! It's about the experience and environment and hospitality. It has a unique ambiance. It's kind of kitschy and cute but also calming and intriguing. There are plants everywhere, but you don't feel like you're in a jungle. It's almost more like just sitting in your own kitchen. Which for an introvert like me, was perfect. The staff was super kind and informative. My friend and I felt welcome and cared about. There was no rush or craziness, it was just about being there and enjoying it. Highly recommend!

Love the flavor of the dishes and coffee. Everything is delicious. I am a big fan of this place since before Covid. Finally they reopened. :) I am not a fan of disposable plates or utensils but I guess I take it bc food is very good.

First time here and got the breakfast flatbread with bacon. It came out hot and fresh and really delicious! Everyone was super friendly and the coziness inside was delightful. There is nothing not made better with a bunch of plants :) I’ll definitely return to try more of the menu!

YST continues to provide wonderful food and atmosphere despite difficult circumstances. The weekly lunch menu changes based upon what is fresh, and never fails to impress. The coffee is top notch, as well as the espresso. Friendly staff and warm service greet you. The atmosphere is lovely, alive with plants and the iron working business whose wares you can see and purchase along with your BLT or quiche. They also offer weekly Wednesday dinners for 2, with creative creative varied menus each week. This place is truly a can't miss!

Beautiful little breakfast spot with kind service. The food was amazing. Be sure to call ahead the next couple weeks as they might have some temporary hours changes. They are very courteous and also do catering.

Update: Still great and the following review still stands. The raspberry rolls are a must try, coming in second only to the chocolate rolls that are inspired by classic choices in some Mexican cuisine. Google is asking me to review this place after a recent visit. You Say Tomato is still 5 stars. I guess I didn't elaborate 4 years ago when I first offered a rating, and now I could. There's just a lot to say, and here's some of it. I've been a big fan since I first went here - 2011? 2012? I'm not really a very conspicuous customer, but I've had the pleasure of chatting with Annie during the pandemic food pick ups, and resourcing the delightful food here to ease how many things there are to juggle. The pocket Reuben is always a smashing success for me, but it doesn't stop there. Are there ever blips? Yep, because humans are making this food. Will building a relationship with the menu (the quiche! the breakfast casserole!), if not the people, be worth your while? I certainly think so. I know I'm not the longest running customer by far, but there's few places that I've been as happy to go back to, over and over again for both the people and the food. P.S. I've never found a quiche that competes!

The food here was incredible. Mocha and latte were delicious. Enjoyed the quiche, croissant sandwiches, and jalapeño grits!

Both the owners and their staff were EXTREMELY nice, even though they were busy. They smiled, talked to, and gave their attention to every person they interacted with. The food was very good (croissant sandwiches), as was the mocha, and self serve coffee. The atmosphere, and the STAFF especially were EXCELLENT. Worth a visit for a relaxed, small-town feel experience.

My 6 y/o daughter and I stumbled upon this gem last weekend when out hunting for a new breakfast spot and what a find! We had the breakfast casserole with mushroom gravy (yu-UM), cinnamon roll and Mexican Mocha. All were on point. The only thing that topped the food was the sincerity and kindness of the staff. While we were waiting for our food, my little one got sick and we had to suddenly head home. The staff was more than accommodating - pulled our breakfast out of the oven to pack up in oven-ready tins to heat up at home, tossed in a banana to help settle her stomach and off we went home. We look forward to coming back when we can stay and enjoy the cozy, eclectic, ambience of this adorable spot. Thanks YST!

This is one of our (me and my wife) favorite places for breakfast. We come here regularly. The crew who work here are very nice as so are the owner and his wife. We like their food, coffee and pastries they serve there. If you would like to experience a different atmosphere from the chains such as Starbucks and others, support a local owned business, and would like to be in a friendly neighborhood cafe, you should try this place.

You Say Tomato has some fire breakfast casserole let me just say that... Get it with the mushroom and sausage gravy and you won't be disappointed. I need to go back and get their gazpacho. Its a cold tomato soup with veggies in it... its one of my favorites. Its a unique place to go have breakfast or lunch at and the menu is unique just like the place. I'll be back to grab some Gazpacho...

Special ordered raspberry cream cheese rolls. World Class treat. Inlaws came in town. Wanted a special treat. Anne Casper and George deliver once again!!!

One of our favorite breakfast places - be sure to check their hours. Everything we get there we enjoy, but we make sure not to leave without a cinnamon roll - our favorite best in KC (and believe me, we try cinnamon rolls everywhere we can). They also have great options for takeout on a weekly basis and even have pizza nights.

The fact that this is so close to Succotash and both are great is spoiling us here in KC. Unique atmosphere that combines cozy home kitchen with corner farmer's market. Great menu of breakfast staples with veggie/vegan options, you know...the staples. Cool community pizza nights and catering as well, look em up!
