Haven’t been to a lot of courses in and around London but this was by far the best one I’ve been to. The course was in good condition despite the drought. It was also deceptively challenging and I really struggled to play to my handicap. The top tracer driving range is a great place to warm up too!

Played this course twice in the past month and have to say it hasn't disappointed at all. One of the nicest courses in North London. Tee boxes were all level, fairway and rough were cut to a great length and greens were pure. I think the new owners have put in a tremendous amount of work to the course comparing my experience to some prior reviews and I will definitely be visiting again.

Incredible course, fairways were green, cut well and ground was soft. The greens were is perfect condition. One of the best courses I’ve played. The only suggestion is that the course isn’t the easiest to navigate, better sign posting and bigger hole numbers would make this course even better.

The course was in great condition and very enjoyable. The management is non existent. One of our party couldn’t play and trying to get a refund is impossible. No one answers phone or takes any responsibility at the course. Easy to take your money but hard to get back. The response from Johnathan and his team has been great and it is clear they welcome feedback and react accordingly. We won’t hesitate to rebook and play this superb golf course.

Played here today and right through from the initial booking process online, the whole experience was superb. Course is really well maintained. Could not fault it. Tempted me to enquire about membership for next year and cancel my current membership at my local club! Keep up the standards and we’ll be back soon! Thank you

Excellent course (fair value in the week at £35 a round) greens are pretty slow for this stage of summer, although July has been wet, I think they were watered as they were particularly spongey. The course is challenging enough, a few birdie chances on the par 3s and one short par 5 in particular. Back nine seems a bit tighter off the tee than the front. Restaurant food was very high quality and different to what you would expect at a Golf club. Very much enjoyed the sharing plates we ate afterwards and kudos to the Portugese manager who was great. Keen to play on the weekend, but tee times on website not very clear.

I just took 7 fellow golfers for a first visit to the Hertsmere and was not disappointed. It's a very nice, well maintained course. Good greens, clean fairways and actual sand in the bunkers (UK golfers will understand!). The staff in the restaurant were very helpful, the Manager Phillipe couldn't do enough for us and the food was great. The club pro organised our day with efficiency and a desire to leave us with a good impression of the place and that's how we left. Would we return? Absolutely.

We had a fantastic day at the Hertsmere. Beautifully maintained, challenging course - I have never played such immaculate greens, a real tribute to the green keepers. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helped to make this day so special. I heartily recommend this course to anyone looking for a great round of golf and I'm looking forward to my next round sometime very soon!

The Hertsmere is just a fantastic fresh energetic and happy place with wonderfully warm welcoming staff. A big thank you to everyone today from the restaurant staff to the golf staff and special thanks to Mark in the Pro Shop for his help and caring nature in helping with getting the buggy sorted. Food was superb and best of all…the sun was shining!! Don’t hesitate and visit soon you won’t regret it!! Can’t wait till my next visit

UPDATE: Following posting this review I was contacted by the new management (Linda) at this course to try to address the issues. I was invited back for a complimentary 2 ball, which I attended on 17/09/2023. My previous review cannot be shown due to the length, however I had a poor experience in April and the rating is updated from 1/5 to 3/5. New Review: I felt confident that my previous issues would no longer be an issue when I attended the course, and indeed I found all staff to be polite and my booking was quickly recognised. The reason for my current level of review is a reflection of the course condition, specifically, the greens. First, let me say that the tee boxes, fairways, bunkers and all other areas of the course appear to be immaculately maintained. None of these areas would look out of place on a top golf course, and I would give them top marks for this. The greens however, are another story. Every single green was incredibly soft, which given the recent warm weather was extremely surprising. In addition to this, all of the greens were disastrously bumpy. The ball never ran true and the pace varied from green to green. This was quite concerning given how good the condition the rest of the course was in. A quick note on pace of play. For a two ball, we were almost 5 hours for 18 holes. The chief reason for this was the 2 3 balls ahead of us, most of whom appeared not to have played the course (or golf) before. I believe that at a course of this calibre there should be more of an effort to maintain good pace of play. However this is clearly circumstantial and has not affected my rating of the course. I would return to pay and play The Hertsmere again if I knew that the greens had been bought up to the condition of the rest of the course.

Nice course but lots of people use carts which can create pressure when working. The clubhouse is lovely made even better by the staff. Breakfast was great and nicely served and Gad behind the bar is a real gem.. So helpful and goes out of his way to help you

I’m going to start off by saying I love this golf course. It’s amazing. What adds to the beautiful greens that have got a sheen to it, is the amazing staff there. You can tell they are well-trained. Standardised smile and the same vibe when they greet customers, not to mention they are extremely helpful too. HOWEVER, the restaurant, stationed next to the golf course and managed under the same golf club, has terrible staff. Everytime I’ve been there they had got something wrong. Brought the wrong drink, forgot an order, didnt bring cutlery, you name it. Food is decent though, especially when it’s enjoyed at the outdoor seating area, which overlooks half of the golf course. It’s a pity such an amazing golf club is ruined by poor restaurant staff. It can be easily rectified though, I believe. I hope they see this comment and work on it, cuz judging from other aspects at the club, they are amazing. If you love golf, it’s advisable to go there asap. I dont think the Hertsmere, which I heard have been under new management for 2-3 years, will be offering access to public anymore when members fill up.

One of my best golf courses in London. Cozy and high cost performance. While I feel some difficulties in winter, summer time is best for playing.

First time playing here. Course was in great condition. Really interesting holes, a good test and also rewarding if you hit good tee shots. The facilities and range are top notch. The only reason it’s not a 5 star review is the speed of play - our round took 5 hours on Sunday!!! Quite a few hackers in front.

I highly recommend this highly inclusive golf club. They go out of their way to create a female and family friendly environment which makes for a wonderful experience for beginners and a great one for the advanced players as well! All 3 of our family are signed up to one of their programmes: juniors, beginner adults and advanced adults and we all love it; the coaching team are great. Gorgeous new restaurant just opened with wonderful views over the golf course and super friendly catering team 🧡

Enjoyed playing here and the course is in pretty good condition for February with 1 temporary green and a few benefiting from rolling. Some challenging holes. The facilities look great but the clubhouse is closed for refurbishment but there is an excellent coffee and food van in the smart driving range albeit a bit chilly in February. I feel green fees should be no more than £30 as others nearby are. Ball cleaners and hole plans should be on tees

Played a society day at the Hertsmere on 27/3/23. When I got here the club house is still being finished off but I was allowed to sit in and wait for the group. The club house looks great and only needs a couple of finishing touches. The course was quite wet in a lot of places but this is expected at this time of year and due to the amount of rain we have had recently. The greens were in very good condition. There were a couple of temporary greens which I was not told about when booking which I find quite annoying. I would love to come back and play this course in the summer as I love the layout and the feel of the course. Before and after the round there were not a lot of staff about (maybe due to the ongoing work). The staff that I did see were very friendly and helpful. I think I would be giving this course a 5 star rating when the clubhouse is finished and the course drys out.

The range facilities we used before our round are second to none, the free use of top tracer in every bay is brilliant. The course was in excellent condition considering the recent heavy rain and leaf fall. Can’t wait for the renovations to the clubhouse and pro shop to be complete and open as this will make it one of the top courses in Hertfordshire. Myself and my son will be joining this club as members.

A brilliant morning out in a great location. The facilities are above expectations and we now have a 10 year old golf enthusiast, thanks to all the staff who spent time with us. We will definitely visit again.

Had a club fitting with Nic Choulman at the Srixon Centre of Excellence and can't recommend it highly enough. What stood out (apart from the clubs I have ordered) was Nic's genuine interest in my game and how he may be able to help me in the right club selection. Nic was very communitive throughout explaining what the tweaks in club heads and lofts would do at each step and was very patient in finding the right mix to fit the long end of my bag to sit with my existing clubs. There was no pressure to purchase and Nic even recommended where I should continue with my current clubs rather than changing to the Srixon family offering. Will definitely be a port of call if and when I need to change any future clubs.

Really enjoyed the track, greens were running true and presented a challenge to hit them in the right places and the hole layout was interesting and required some precise hitting. The only reason I give it four stars is my friend and I had booked a tee time for 1.56pm. We had booked 9 holes for £20 by mistake. Upon arrival the pro shop informed me of the mistake and said 18 holes was and £32 each in total. This wasn’t a massive problem, however after checking the tee times on the site, if we tee’d off 4 minutes later the price would have been £26 each instead. I feel a little disappointed the pro shop didn’t inform me of this as the course wasn’t busy and it would have been a nice gesture as way of keeping players happy and wanting to come back and play again.

First time back since the name change & was looking forward & overall enjoyed it. The bunkers were all nicely sanded since last year& great to play off grass tees unlike many other courses over the winter understandably. The fairways looked lush but winter had still left them potted & barer under closer inspection & the greens were very green & soft & slow but as the weather warms up I’m sure they’ll improve notably week on week & am looking forward to that.

Today I played in a 4 ball round of golf at The Hertsmere, as a break from my local club. I met Matt (course manager) who like everyone else working at the club was very friendly and made time to show me the facilities. It’s a well designed and challenging course in very good condition considering the hot weather we have had this year The course is credit to Matt and his team, facilities look good, a large driving range, simulator etc. Everyone working at the club were very friendly, and welcoming. I had not heard of the course until recently so was pleasantly surprised. Understand they are considering offering membership sometime in the future, we would definitely be interested, and would recommend golfers who like a good challenging course to play a round themselves. We will definitely be recommending them to our respective golf societies. Sully 😊🏌🏽‍♂️
