One of the most delicious Indian starters I have ever had. Main course was also good but would prefer starters and desserts over main course. Definitely visiting again!

This is a lovely little restaurant, serving delicious food. They don't tell you everything is hot and you have to request to have it milder, so bare that in mind, even the normally mild dishes have a strong punch. The service was very good, staff all very polite and always trying to make customers happy. This place has a Michelin star apparently, but it wasn't anything more special than a good curry restaurant. Prices are expensive as expected, but definitely worth a visit if you love curry, probably the best quality meat in the area.

Our favourite local place to eat! The menu is varied and has a few more unusual takes on dishes. Service is always friendly, but these days it’s definitely recommended to book ahead as they are VERY busy, which tells you a lot about how good this place is !

Excellent Indian restaurant. The menu is compact but full of interesting dishes. We really enjoyed everything we ordered. All the dishes are expertly prepared with quality ingredients and the balance of spices was spot on. The service is brilliant, you will be well looked after by a very helpful and friendly team. There is no wonder that while we visited all the tables were full. Book in advance.

Friendly staff. £5 for poppa doms and dips is a bit dear. Also they charged for lemon water. Most fine dinning offer thus for free. Dishes may look small, but packed full of flavour

This is a fantastic place. The food is very authentic Indian and the Chef and staff are wonderful. I see why have won so many awards. Nothing can stop the smiles on my face after seeing the team work together and making sure every single customer is happy. The happiness was floating all around the restaurant. The attention to detail by the Chef and the staff is great. They make sure everyone leaves satisfied. There is a good range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food available. All of them made to order and with detail and attention. We were sat right opposite the kitchen and it was such a joy watching them all working in harmony. The Chef smiling and making sure the team was comfortable all the time. This then radiated to the customers as the staff were happy. All in all a great family friendly restaurant with very authentic Indian food.

Finally, Indian cuisine that is tasty, fresh, authentic and isn’t full of oil! Highly recommend this place. Service was excellent, staff could explain the menu and ingredients fully and were very efficient and friendly. Menu wasn’t pages and pages of mass produced curries, which I much prefer. Chutneys were the best I’ve tasted. We had to book a month in advance to get a table here, now I understand why! I look forward to visiting again soon.

Quality Indian food, packed with flavour. It’s not the oily, 1-taste-for-every-dish kind of place. In my opinion, their chef is actually a chef and is thinking about each dish. Worth the money, even though a little on the expensive side for what I am used to. Lovely friendly staff who are very accommodating and put you at ease. I will definitely go again for a special occasion.

Delicious food and good service but ambience could have been better. For Starters, we had the Dahi Puri Chaat (excellent, highly recommend) and Chicken Lollipop (nice and flavourful, but a little dry). For Mains, had Butter Naan with Lamb Rogan Josh and Malai Chicken Kebab, all of which were delicious. Butter Naans were excellent, the lamb cooked very very well and the Malai Chicken Kebab was cooked to perfection although the portion size could have been better. Also tried the Carrot Halwa for Dessert which was quite nice, and not too sweet. Highly recommend; will definitely return.

Two Michelin stars, each one totally earned. Dastaan is an absolute culinary treat. This is by far the best Indian restaurant I've been to. The food is on another level. Its unlike any other Indian food I've had. From the freshly baked, uniquely flavoured Poppadoms, naans and paratha, to the incredibly tasty rogan josh and buttered chicken, every dish on our table was a delight. Even the pulao rice tastes fantastic on its own. I'd highly recommend the DahiPuri and assorted Poppadom basket as starts, with an absolutely fantastic butter chicken to follow, rounded off with either the gulab jamun or pistachio kulfi for dessert. Beyond the food, the staff are terrific, very warm and welcoming, and the restaurant is spotless. If good Indian food is your thing, you need to make your way to Dastaan.

Tucked away amongst a small parade of shops alongside the A240, at first glance you’d think this was just another generic suburban curry house but this is something truly special. This award winning restaurant has been cooking up a curry storm since it opened its doors in 2016 and it’s still going strong. The mooli mustard lamb chops are an absolute must and my favourite dish on the menu - if you don’t order them you’re just not doing it right. Succulent thick-cut lamb chops cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, they may seem steep at £9.95 per chop but are worth every penny!

Fantastic lunch as Dastaan. Every dish was great. Highly recommend the grilled meats and the vegetarian biriyani. But everything we tried was great. Watch out for spice if you have young kids with you 😂 but the staff were great in quickly sorting us out with some plain rice and yoghurt! Can't wait to visit again.

Visited on a Sunday lunch with family. Unnervingly quiet with only one other table eating. Starters all delicious - especially the chicken and fish tikka tandoori - excellent flavours, portion sizes and good choice. Main dishes were all tasty but a bit more run of the mill / typical of British curry houses / not as special as the starters - breads excellent though (naan & paratha). desserts were all ok, Nothing super special (would have been nice if the mango kheer was warm). Prices reflective of the quality and decent value. Excellent attention to allergies within our party. Would return :)

Authentic Indian food cooked to a very high standard. I recommend the red pepper prawns and the pork cheek vindaloo. This place is a legitimate establishment with a lovely environment to match.

I can easily say that it was my best Indian meal in London. Even if you are not into Indian cuisine - like me - the staff will guide you to have a proper indo-gastronomic experience. The hygiene is also high standards, prices are reasonable. I would recommend if you don’t mind the trip to Epsom

Wow. Didn't expect to find such an incredible Indian restaurant this side of London and right on my door step. What you immediately notice when you walk in is simply how busy it is (even on a Tuesday night). The interior is charming and unassuming, they let the food (and service) do the talking. We ordered Poppadoms and Pickled dips, Bhajiyas, a Lamb Chop, the Lamb Biryani, the Chicken Chettinad curry, Butter Naan and the Lemon Sorbet dessert. Every dish was cooked with the mastery and care that you would expect of a Michelin awarded Chef. The meal's highlight was the Lamb Chop, whose flavour and texture was so immensely satisfying that we were reluctant to swallow each mouthful. We look very forward to sampling the rest of the menu!

Dastaan is a resturant for people who really enjoy spicy food. You can tell them if you want it spicy or not. The people who serve the food are very kind and the food is very tasty. The portion is very good and they give you the food that you ordered with the matter of 7 - 10 minutes. I would really recommend you try this place out because i promise you will want to come iver and over again.

We finally had the opportunity to visit Dastaan after hearing fantastic reviews from friends and work colleagues, and the experience lived up to the high expectation set. The food was tasty, perfectly spiced with great ingredients. We had a range of dishes including the Lamb Rogan Josh which was tender as well as the prawn curry which was cooked just right. The food was well presented and served up quickly and piping hot by the staff, who hustled around the restaurant with smiles on their faces serving clients quickly and efficiently. The service was impeccable, and despite being a busy Friday night, wr never had to wait long and was looked after. Booking is essential but this place is worth a visit

What a lovely evening with such great service. Food was amazing and very authentic. We were there to celebrate my birthday, and the manager came over after we’d finished our meal to ask how we’d enjoyed our visit and to wish me a happy birthday. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

Great food with prompt and pleasant service with a smile. Ambience was just right for a small restaurant. Very reasonably priced for a Michelin star restaurant especially in an era of inflation where every business has inflated pricing this was a pleasant surprise. It was fully occupied for the evening. Unsurprisingly those who turned up without prior booking had to be turned away. Food : Tiger Prawns were succulent and well cooked. So was fish curry, Mango Lassi had to be ordered twice; twas so good 👍

Incredible.. no other word describes this place. Probably the best indian place anywhere in Surrey and you will struggle to get this kind of authenticity even in the best london restaurants. Every dish is planned to be perfect.. special mention on the deserts especially the faluda. The methi chicken, tandoori chicken and the naans are on our favourites too. The veg is worth trying as we had a few people who were pure veg and it was well received.

The best Indian restaurant in London. Such incredible, fine dining standard flavours, particularly the lamb chops. We have been searching far and wide for the best curry house, and we have definitely found it here! Great job dastaan - see you again soon! 😁 👍

Absolutely amazing taste. Perfect authentic Indian taste. Vegetarian: Beet Reot Tikki and Samaosa Chat was great. Non Vegetarian: Lamb Chop (expensive - only one chop in £11) taste wise again 10/10. Chicken starters were amazing. Lamb Biryani was really great. Garlic Nan were perfect. Chicken chetinnad can be improved. Can get super crowded on busy day. They do have outdoor waiting area but can’t be used in winter. You can park on road outside the restaurant- which is free after 6:30pm. Open kitchen, serve drinks, restrooms available. Very close to bus stop. Definitely recommend it. I am 100% going there again. I can bet on the taste!!!

Amazing amazing food! My dad is indian and very particular and even he can't fault it. Delicious every time! It is spicy though so do ask for milder if needed.

Came here for my birthday in my hunt to try and find a decent Indian restaurant in Surrey, after reading some glowing endorsements of Dastaan on Reddit. After having some difficulty getting a table on Saturday, came on Sunday instead and it was still very busy. The menu is quite limited if you want a chicken dish. There's no obvious option for a medium spiced dish, so I asked the waiter for his recommendation and got a mild version of the already mild Butter Chicken! To top it off, he only brought one even though we ordered two. Why would two people only want one main?! To be fair, it was rectified by one of the other waiters, who seemed less interested in rushing us in and out, thankfully. The Paneer Tikka starter was very good - really tasty, but the Butter Chicken main was disappointing. Some pieces of chicken were a bit tough, and there wasn't a great deal of taste either, although I do prefer spicier dishes. The naan breads were just OK - nothing special. For dessert, we had pistachio kulfi, and it was probably the worst kulfi I've ever tasted 😭 To top it off, we were charged for a bottle of wine we didn't drink and the waiter who messed up the orders then seemed to be very suspicious of us pointing it out, even though neither of us drink and only had coke bottles on the table. After corrections, the meal came to around £70, so fairly reasonable. Despite the disappointments, I still ate everything, and didn't have a bad belly the next day, which is mission accomplished. But as an experience, it wasn't worth the one hour round trip to sample.

A really lovely restaurant and very good service. The food was really fresh and very tasty indeed 👍🏼 not cheap though but worth going to it on special occasions. The starters were really tasty.

Amazing food, 4 stars because of the space. But the service and the food is fabulous. We were 4 adults ad we had 4 starters with 3 drinks and 2 main course curries. We paid only £99. Will definitely go again but on odd days and timings because the space is very congested.

Dastaan is excellent, a real gem to be found in a row of unremarkable shops. There is a great vibe in the restaurant and people are very chatty in there. The food is genuinely different, very innovative and varied. Many dishes I have never had before. I wish them the best of luck - excellence comes as standard at Dastaan.

As an Indian living in London, this is the same food as you get in Delhi, just fresher! The Butter Chicken tastes just like Mughlai food (and like it should). I actually asked the chef and he explained the number of ingredients and their cooking method which shows why the taste is just like back home. The starters are exceptionally good as well. This is the best Indian I’ve had in London. Save yourself a trip to India and go here for authentic Indian food.

AMAZING! AMAZING! AMAZING! If you don't know about Dastaan then you don't know about great Indian cuisine. Ive been eating there regularly since they opened, now to the point of at least once a week. Not only is the food great but it's consistently great again and again. The staff are so nice and friendly and do an amazing job of managing such a busy restaurant. (so... TIP WELL!) I'm off there right now for my weekly fix. ?

Its so difficult finding authentic Indian restaurants as most restaurants are afraid to use real Indian spices and water down the food. However this is not the case with Dastaan, we went here for dinner and everything was perfect, portions were really good, service excellent and considerate, at one point they asked if it was cold. The food was delicious Indian food, with flavors oozing out of all the dishes, you get that feeling of home cooked food. The lamb curry is the ultimate test, in most places you get lamb that is chewy and the curry oily, here it was as it should be, succulent soft lamb with gravy tasty but not too oily. Highly recommended and this may be just one of the best Indian restaurants in Surrey. Definitely looking forward to going back.

The starters here were very good. Really enjoyed them. The naan was also very good. I was disappointed in the main I had. I have plain rice and lamb Rogan Josh. I felt it to be a little watered down and the rice didn't taste very fresh.

A truly fantastic meal. A small restaurant but full of atmosphere. A starter of Guinea fowl followed by the pigs cheek vindaloo finished with the pistachio kulfi ice cream absolutely faultless from start to finish. Depth of flavour level of spice and presentation all perfect. Front of house excellent polite knowledgeable and efficient. Prices very reasonable for the quality of the food and excellent service.

So first off I need to commend these guys on the quality of their food. It was delicious and different from your standard Indian affair. However when it came to booking the restaurant (stated online that we would have children of 6 and 8 and had a call about this) I was lead to believe that the dishes were going to be suitable for children or at least reduced in heat to allow their little mouths to enjoy the flavours, i was very sadly mistaken. The waiter took us through the menu and said all the dishes had spice and they could bring yogurt to help calm the heat, when asked about creating a milder dish it turned out it was something they could not do. This is quite surprising as most if not all restaurants can cater for little ones in this way. As it turns out my youngest could hardly eating anything apart from my wife's rice, this is such a shame as the prices were quite expensive for what I was expecting and it seemed like it was a small hurdle to overcome and an expected one from a restaurant. I did have to ask several times for table water, we did not receive enough plates for the table when the mains arrived, there was a severe lack in serviettes when needed from starters to mains. So it did feel sloppy in their customer attentiveness.
