The largest art museum in Moldova. The collection includes works by both Moldovan and international artists. Notable sections of the museum's collection include European art, Russian art, and Moldovan art from various periods. It has 3 floors and the paintings, sculptures, old and new art are nicely blending together. The interior of the museum is renovated preserving interesting architecture. Entrance is 10 MDL and you have to pay extra 15 MDL if you want to take pics. Overall, nice visit and totally worth it to emerge yourself in local history and art.

Not a very big but interesting exposition. The museum has been renovated recently, everything looks very fresh and nice. I liked that there are a lot of paintings by Moldavian artists (especially women), it was so interesting to see them and get acquainted with Moldavian art. The price is unfairly cheap!! Only 10 leu (or 5 leu for students) to see a lot of beautiful art in the beautiful old building. Definitely going to recommend this museum to all people who go to Chisinau!

The museum really exceeded my expectations with its art collection. I suggest setting aside around 1-2 hours to see all the exhibitors. The ticket costs only 10 lei (2 euros) and can be bought at the entrance. We visited it on a weekday and there were no queues. It was also nice to see the students painting in the museum.

Nice museum to visit when you’re in Chișinău. The entrance fee is also fair, especially when you’re a student.

Definitely worth a visit if you like art, at at about 10p a ticket hardly a risk. The collection is more extensive than I had imagined. It begins with religious materials (icons, bits of iconostases etc), before proceeding through the usual displays of art history to some contemporary work. From my perspective I would say the most interesting stuff is from the 20th century where the displays were most different from a typical western European art museum, for example. I'm not sure it's all typically communist (some of the painting looked more avant garde than I thought Stalin liked, for example), but i'm no expert. For me the highlight was the sculpture galleries, with some great soviet realist work. In particular I loved the busts by Alexandra Picunov, who I had not previously encountered. She is worth 100 times the admission on her own

Art you call it. The only 'art' there was were a handful. Even out of that handful, 90% was from the universal exhibition which stays for just few days. The three stars are for 1. The 'at least' pretty building in Moldvan standards. 2. The decency they had to make a national museum. 3. The effort they made to run the universal art exhibition.

Nice selection of artwork from 1800s all the way to the modern era (there was an exhibition of Moldovian artists from 2022) Entrance was 10 Lei, and about an hour is enough time to see the collection if you don't linger around each peace too long. Very beautiful architecture of the building itself!

Open the immense, heavy door and you’re invited into a bright, high, ornate and recently renovated reception area. There are 3 floors of art work, many painted by Latvian artists and most are modern pieces. There are some lovely examples that capture everyday Latvian life.

Being a big art lover and an art creator, this Art Museum has become a great inspirational visit for me. I was impressed by some very old works and especially of one’s of my favorite painter Aivazovskyi. The interior of building absolutely gorgeous and arty. There’re contemporary art exhibits which is spectacular. And of course you can get acquainted with local Moldavian art creators.

The place looks beautiful after restoration . You can find as medieval as modern art here. But the stuff is very rude and picky. We tryed to make some fun pictures copiing persons on paints and she said we are doing blasphemy. We stopped. But she followed us and said that we are not allowed to do so much photos, despite the fact that we bought a ticket for that. Stuff is rude.

Beautiful, freshly renovated building with a good collection of local & international paintings, sculptures and other works of art. Valentina Russu's paintings are the cherry on top, very interesting and original technique. Would love to have more info about the artists life and views added to the exhibition to make them more informative. The ticket price is very accessible so it's worth a visit.

Very cool looking museum, with great white halls, white marble stairways full of interesting paintings and sculptures of local and foreign artists. You can visit it by yourself or using a tour guide, whichever is more convenient for you. They have a large dressing room where you can leave your coat or other belongings. You can take all the pictures you want inside the museum, no worries about that.

A must visit for tourists. Renewed, beautiful, shining. The place has classical museum's vibe mixed with contemporary art, especially during temporary exhibitions, which happen pretty often here. Reasonable prices, friendly and kind staff and a lot of good photos.

Museum is definitely worth to visit, however is it the smallest national museum I visited so far(been about 35 in different countries) but for such low price - 5 lei for a student it’s highly recommended. In addition there is fee if you want took photos- 15 lei. Whole tour took me about 40 minutes.

  • 5/5 NVMNX 1 year ago on Google
Much more beautiful than I expected. Totally worth going. And the tickets are very cheap (2lei or 9 lei -if you want to take pictures)(do pay to take pictures, it's very much fun going with a friend and keeping memories). Also, there are MANY galleries, it's like Hogwarts! Try all the doors

Inform yourself well before entering I arrived and asked where to ask for the tickets and the lady, very rudely points with her finger where it says “casa” , which was in that place, I ask her for a ticket and advance. When I start taking pictures, a very hurried lady appears and asks me for the photo ticket, I asked what ticket she was referring to and I say that I did not know that I would have to buy a special ticket just for photos, she laughs in my face and says not to be a liar. I repeat that I didn't know and she continues to literally call me a Liar. I asked to be accompanied to the ticket office so that the ticket office lady could confirm that she had not informed me, which was confirmed, I was asked for 15 more leis, of which I only had 10 leis with me. I had to leave and not see the museum due to lack of information, education and unprofessionalism of the workers. It's not about the money at all but about the attitude. Maybe if they hadn't had the rude attitude they had I would have gone to ATM and re-enter but I lost the will to visit the museum. Perhaps it would be better to put the ticket at 25 lei or a price list at the entrance so that people could inform themselves. Maybe in 1 or 2 years I will visit my home country again and I will want to know more about the art culture and history, I hope to find more human and professional people.

Nice experience. Good balance paintings-sculptures. It lacks masterpieces, work of well known artists. Entrance fee only cash. It takes apprx 1h to go through all rooms. Pay attention some apps may take you to a different location, the right address is 31 August 1989 St 115, Chişinău, Moldova (close to Pushkin Str.)

The employees are terrible. Kicked us out even though we payed for our photo ticket. We haven’t photographed the exhibits, but ourselves. And even though we didn’t do anything prohibited, they demanded a bribe for 150€. Here are the rules and there’s nowhere written that you cannot photograph people
