Gurudwara Bir Baba Budha Sahib, also known as Bir Sahib, is where Baba Budha Ji spent most of his life. Baba Buddha, who lived for 125 years, was the first Granthi, blessed by the first Sikh Guru Guru Nanak Dev as a boy, and went on to anoint the five succeeding Gurus. It is great place to go...

Dhan dhan baba buddha sahib g.. Baba Buddha ji (ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਜੀ ) (1506-1631) or Bhai Buddha is recognized as one of the great Sikhs of the Guru period. Baba Buddha, was born into the Randhawa clan. He had the privilege of being blessed by the first six Gurus. He led an ideal Sikh life for more than a hundred years. He was one of closest companions of the guru Nanak (the first Guru of Sikhism) and is one of the most revered and sacred saints in Sikhism. He holds one of the most important and pivotal positions in Sikh history. The first head Granthi of Sri Harmandir Sahib. Baba Buddha ji was a most venerated primal figure of early Sikhism, was born on 6 October 1506 at the village of Katthu Nangal, 18 km northeast of Amritsar. Bura, as he was originally named, was the only son of Bhai Suggha and Mai Gauran. As a small boy, he was one day grazing cattle outside the village when Guru Nanak happened to pass by. According to Bhai Mani Singh, Sikhan di Bhagat Mala, Bura went up to him and, making obeisance with a bowl of milk as his offering, prayed to him in this manner: “O sustainer of the poor! I am fortunate to have had a sight of you today. Absolve me now from the circuit of birth and death.” The Guru said, You are only a child yet. But you talk so wisely.” “some soldiers set up camp by our village,” replied Bura, “and they mowed down all our crops – ripe as well as unripe. Then it occurred to me that, when no one could check these indiscriminating soldiers, who would restrain Death from laying his hand upon us, young or old.” At this Guru Nanak pronounced the words: “You are not a child; you possess the wisdom of an old man.” From that day, Bura, came to be known as Bhai Buddha, buddha in Punjabi meaning an old man, and later, when advanced in years, as Baba Buddha.

Baba Buddha (Gurmukhi: ਬਾਬਾ ਬੁੱਢਾ; bābā buḍhā; lit. meaning "wise old man") (October 1506 – 8 September 1631)was a prime figure in early Sikhism. He was born in 1506 in the village of Kathu Nangal, in Amritsar . His father's name was Sugha Randhawa and his mother was named Mai Gauran. His birth name was Bura (Gurmukhi: ਬੂੜਾ; būṛā).As a child, while grazing cattle outside his village, he met Guru Nanak. He asked Guru Nanak many questions regarding life and death, such that, at his young age, Guru Nanak blessed him with the name Buddha, as he spoke as if he were a wise elder. He was one of the earliest Sikhs of Guru Nanak, and performed the formal coronation ceremonies of the five Sikh gurus who succeeded Guru Nanak; Guru Angad, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ram Das, Guru Arjan, and Guru Hargobind.

It is around 15km from railway station and the best part is that there is always a festive environment outside it. It is a believe that if any married couples go with devotion to have child, it will be full fill after taking onion and Parantha Prashad specially made for them. There is good facilities for parking and toilet at the entrance, also place for shoe racks where people work with there will for shoe storage. Beside Gurudwara there is a pond of holly water for bathing before going inside it, Inside pond you can see beautiful numbers of fishes, you can sit here and see the movement of these fishes, after paying your devotion you can go for taking Langar( Sacrament ) which is outside the Gurudwara and Sacrament is available every time in continuation for everyone.
