Good luck getting any services here if you are Anglophone. I had a radiology appointment today, and because of traffic I was late. I called the hospital to inform them. First of all, the whole answering system is french only. Finally when I got to talk to someone from radiology department, she put me on hold for like good 40 mins I'm guessing only because she didn't speak a word in English. I finally got there very late with the idea of taking another appointment for another day and boom! Nobody speaks English there in person as well other than the radiology reception lady. Then it makes me think why they put me on hold for 1 hour?! She literally said, I had to speak french in order to be able getting served better and I was like what?! So they are basically saying there get out of here if you don't speak french. Then she gives my papers to go to an 'English' hospital. Long story in short, there is a language discrimination and a huge barrier at this hospital and what a shame, I mean this is Canada, last time when I checked the Sherbrooke Street is still in Montreal downtown not in france?

The health care system is at risk of unravelling. Many people retired early others have left on 'burn out' because of the difficult working conditions. The Covid19 pandemic has eroded the fibres that weave together healthcare, from CLSCs to CHSLDs to hospitals, in Quebec. More importantly, there is a disappointing brain drain of qualified nurses and doctors to other provinces. Educated healthcare workers are leaving Quebec because Loi21 makes what is on a doctor's head more important than what is in their head. Hopefully, the situation will improve when Quebec society demands change.

I was brought in by ambulance some months ago with the worst headache in my life that had stroke symptoms. When I got there, i was experiencing blinding pain so bad it was causing my body to shake and my arms were numb, and I couldn’t think at all. I was offered Tylenol. Then I was told to get off the ambulance trolley and sit in the waiting room where the pain became so bad I passed out sitting up. No-one noticed. Eventually my husband and child arrive after what was apparently hours as they couldn’t contact me, and took me home as I was in a worse state than when I arrived by ambulance, and no-one had come and checked on me. He told the staff, who had previously said they couldn’t tell him when I would be seen. They then told him I was 3rd in the queue. By this point I had woken up but I just needed to lay down somewhere the pain was so bad, so he took me home. Took me weeks to recover. When I was finally able to get a doctors appointment, the doctor said it was ‘just a migraine’ till I broke down and insisted they X-ray my spine. Turns out I have a fracture in my spine, and severe degenerative disk disease. Don’t go to this hospital if you need to be seen in an emergency.

My experience as an anglophone have been overall very good. First time with an emergency and the second time as minor emergency. Both times the medical personnel, doctors and nurses have been very polite and attentive. However, I want to point out that this second time all personnel were extremely nice and friendly, some of them even spoke with us in spanish when they knew we were spanish speakers. I am really grateful for all the hard work and professionalism they do everyday.

Unless you are brought there against your will by the paramedics please choose another place. If you are not extremely close to death they will just not care about you. I have been brought there by the paramedics because I fell from a ladder and couldn’t walk but when sitting down i wasn’t in pain so they left me sitting for 22 hours at the urgency. I spent the night there with multiple people without being able to lay because they didn’t have beds or litters available for us (some of the people i was with were in wheelchairs too)Next day my back was in fire and I could not sit no more. the doctor did a radio told me that nothing was broken and it was probably the shock of falling from the ladder that was preventing me from walking but I was suppose to be able to walk in the next 3 days. They then referred me to a physiotherapist that I have to pay to take care of my knees and back problem that I didn’t have when I came in. I ask them if I could be hospitalized for 3 days until I could walk because I live alone in Montreal and all my friends are outside the city and work but they told me that because the radio shown nothing severe they couldn’t even if I clearly couldn’t walk and I was moving in wheelchair. They did not propose anything helpful to me for the time I would not be able to walk. Long story short they had a special service that helped me get back home in front of my door step unable to walk for 3 days with no help and a back problem that I didn’t have when I came in. A friend from another city had to ask permission at his job to come and help me for a week. But what if he couldn’t ? What if I had nobody to help me ? Basically they politely told me f**ck off we don’t know how you are going to take care of yourself but you are not dying so our job stops here. We let you figure out how your are going to cook, eat, do the dishes.... for 3 days ( was actually a week) without walking and with a messed up back that wasn’t messed up before they left me sitting for 22hours. Please if you are not dying and have the choice go somewhere else I have been 3 times to the Jewish for things way less severe than not being able to walk and I have been treated amazingly in less than 4 hours.

Came in with excruciating pain. Instead of evaluating me, the nurse in triage (white man with blonde hair and A LOT of gel) decided to banter me on why I didn't go the the CHUM. I told him this was the closest hospital, "I am in 10/10 pain and decided to come straight here atleast for an assessment please" He word for word replied "Well that's too bad for you. I am not going to do anything for you. You should have went to another hospital" He spoke and looked at me like I was a wild animal from another planet. No assessment, no file checking, nothing. I ended up going to the CHUM and they immediately evaluated me for kidney infection and severe consitpation. Please, please, please guys, do NOT go to this hospital if you care about yourself and your loved ones. They will let you die in the ER. ANYWHERE but here. If I knew how to report a Healthcare worker I would do it in a heart beat but I thought I should atleast put a review as a MASSIVE RED FLAG for anyone considering this place for urgent care.

(ER) Long waiting times. Lack of organization and efficiency. There's people who have been waiting for over 10 hours or so to be seen by a doctor who would rather leave and go home instead. When it's been a few hours since anyone was called and nobody is being called, it becomes a joke. Definitely won't be coming back here. Sadly, one star is the lowest I can go. But it doesn't even deserve that.

Never go to the hospital here. Unkindness is basic and everyone can't speak English. Even in an emergency, you have to wait at least half a day. The people who work there just leave the patients unattended and tell them to wait. They just chat over popcorn and coffee.

The worst hospital I have been at. My grandpa was admitted there for a day, and had no way of communicating with the nurses since they are no bilingual. In addition, the nurses seem to not care a single bit about any patients as the emergency area had nurses who seemed to hate what they are doing. If you wanna make sure your elderly parents/grandparents are well taken care off. DO NOT GO THERE.

Long waiting time without prior notice when it’s your turn or how long you should wait even if you are in the Emergency section. Take with you a cup of coffee or a sleeping bag since you may wait more than 3 hours. 🥱🥱🥱😴😴😴

I don't understand why doctors and nurses are paid; they move like amputated-snails, you always have to wait as if we were at war and it was full of patients. The emergency service should be cancel and sent out on unemployment, urgently! A system must be established to control the quality and quantity of medical services, something similar to how bus drivers are tracked, if they are at the station at the exact time. P.S. Let's remember that the "heroes" , had gone on vacation 8000-10000 of them, when the pandemic hit and then the nurses got a rise to $211/hour.... Why we pay for these skunks?!

I got hit by a car and was sent over here at 8pm. It's now 4am. The nurse who checked me in told me that if I needed more Tylenol to help with my pain that I could ask any nurse and I'd be given some. I haven't seen a nurse anywhere since 10pm. My knee, tailbone, pelvis and neck are hurting even more than when I got here and I'm very close to just heading home, broken bones or not. I almost died yet apparently that's not enough to see a doctor or nurse or anyone for hours.

The staff was incredibly friendly. It didn't seem to matter which department I was in, even as I bounced around from one location to the next, someone was always around to help guide us through the hospital. Only good things to say about the staff here, they genuinely care.

People are generally very nice until you ask why you are waiting 50 minutes for a scheduled appointment. Then they become unpleasant and hostile. Typical behavior of medical personnel, their time is worth gold while yours is something that they have an absolute right to waste. This hospital is no better or worse than anywhere else. Arrogant and unhelpful at the slightest pushback.

arrived at 11am, it's now 6:44pm, so that's 7.5 hrs+ wait, still haven't seen the doc. the wait time seems to be worse because of covid measure and waiting for rooms to be sanitized? they call the cleaning staff pretty often to consultation rooms, so that's my guess. I'm so hungry and there's no real food, would I have known i'd be in this waiting room all afternoon, i wouldve gotten food from the cafeteria :'( i came here before covid and it wasn't as bad, like 5hrs wait? anyway

No one would speak English to me. I was asked to sign papers in the language I don’t understand. They charged me over a $1000 for a Tylenol pill and called it emergency care. How am I supposed to explain this to my insurance? Overall, horrible experience.

I had an appointment for an EMG on Oct 28. The tehnician was very professional and pleasant. When the exam was over a lady neurologist came in without introducing herself and no smile. She was very rude and wouldn't even listen to what my symptoms were. She didn't even know me but she thought she knew how I was feeling and when I would have these symptoms during the day. She went as far as to yell at me. I have never been treated so badly from a medical profession. She shouldn't be a doctor. This was my first time at Notre Dame hospital and is my last time.

This message is towards the administrative staff of the specialized medicine clinic in the rez de chaussée they don’t care about you and won’t help you at all. They were useless. They literally tell you to use a machine instead of guiding you. Seriously fire them and tell them to go work in a job where they don’t deal with humans.

Never thought I’d write a review for a hospital, ha. Being new to the province and knowing very little French, I was terrified to come here. Previous reviews painted this hospital (every hospital, lol) in a very poor light. I arrived at 3am on a Saturday, and it was DEAD. I was in and out within 2 hours (the ER; unheard of!). Though yes, there are few people here that fluently speak English, they still seem to try their best to help. I took a point off because the process was confusing, and I think the communication between each station was limited (I was called back and forth a few times, I guess some paperwork was lost somewhere along the line). So ya, if you can time your visit for 3am on a Saturday, you’ll be good 😆

I wanna take a moment to say how grateful I was for the service provided at Notre Dame Hospital. I booked a blood test online and when I arrived at the Hospital I didn't have the Hospital card. Then, I was immediately re-directed to make the card and the attendant was really helpful, friendly and patient as I only speak the basics of French. She provided an excellent and quick service. Afterwards, as soon as I got my new Hospital Card, I was sent to the waiting room and the service was really respectful and quick too. I believe the nurse was the best nurse who helped me out since I moved to Montreal 15 years ago. I just want to say Congratulations to everyone from Notre Dame Hospital for the great service and I hope you continue the excellent service provided in all areas.

No doubt this hospital has one of the worst psychiatric unit you can experience. Their psychiatric so called doctors are over sedating what they call patients to keep them in a veggie state. As bad as a coockoo nest. Never set foot in it unless you are a French Canadian resident. The state of buildings and rooms aka cells is in free fall. Maybe a class action lawsuit against Dr Proulx, Dr Farmer and Dr Lamomtagne could do some good.

If you're not a very good French speaker, I would suggest bringing someone who is fluent to translate for you. The nurses and doctors I saw were bilingual, but the administration only speak "a little" English. Otherwise the staff are very friendly, from the hospital card woman, to the nurses and doctors. I went for a routine gastroscopy and everyone was very helpful and understanding. Only removed a star because so much of the hospital is under construction, with scaffolding and tarps everywhere, signage can be confusing.

I usually do not look for reviews of hospitals and the health care sector in general, I wished I saw all these negative feedbacks before coming to the urgency section. I am not sure about the system that seems to them "normal" for people to wait for a long time (4 hrs and still counting) and waste such a long time Plus it was an urgency matter!! There is no explanation and I wonder about the medical system in Montreal why people (who respect the country, pay their taxes, have the right of medical urgency assistance) have to wait and "beg" for someone to help?!

Surprised to see such bad reviews, I went for a day surgery and had as good of a time someone could have after an operation. I didn't wait very long to get my procedure done, and the nurses Flora and Esther were wonderful to be around and made me feel at ease. I was routinely checked upon as I was having troubles breathing, and they made sure I was in good condition to leave. Everyone was so nice, I did struggle a bit being anglophone, but I don't believe I missed a lot of details. Felt safe, well cared for, and glad I got my surgery done there.

Outstanding service at the emergency of Notre-Dame; Following a visit made on January 22nd 2024, I wanted to give my appreciation of the service I received... I showed up Monday morning at 8 am for an emergency(cuts and abrasions to my left arm); i) Triaje done by med tech, took the vitals and even an ECG complete 2) Been seen and evaluated physically by 2 emergency doctors, with psychology counseling 3) Complete set of blood work by a technician 4) Verbal report of the findings + A formal medical written report to IVAC.... all this within 3 hours because I was back Home around 11:30 am. Thanks to the 2 good female Doctors, Dr Fortin and Dr.Chartrand for their professionalism and all the team as well at Notre-Dame, kudos!🎉🙋‍♂️

Apparantley Anglophones don't exist in Montreal according to this place. Call for a rendezvous and of course no English options to get through to anyone. All Canadians French and English should be able to access health services in both languages in all 10 provinces. Again not welcome in my own country.

If you ever have to deal with Ms J .Campeau at this hospital your in for a real ingnorant person , she has no compassion for your loved ones , for her there just a number ,we had our father there with Dementia he is at the end of life , she has been of no help only to suggest we stop treatment , shes only looking to open up the bed for another patient that is in better health than our father , today without advising the family she had him transferred back to the home , my poor mom traveled by bus to Montreal just to find out he was no longer there , this is the worst service given at a hospital , this is what our health care system has become an atrocity, what a shame third world countries are giving better care for there people

Showed up to the ER with huge pain. I waited 9 hours to speak to a doctor, and the staff never asked about my pain or well-being after arriving even with clear signs of discomfort, and after the paramedic had recorded me saying that my pain was a 7+. I had to ask twice to receive non-narcotic tylenol. They were clearly busy, and perhaps short staffed. But there are definite ways to improve. The doctor was intelligent and well-mannered. However, their assessment relied on an assumption (albeit one that could be correct) and for this reason they chose not to include any follow up. I will be using my records to receive follow up testing at another institution.

Happy to report my experience for blood tests went well. - Met with polite bilingual clerk who readily offered to speak English while processing my hospital card. Then to check-in, where clerk's English was fair, but she did still offer effort. Wait times zero-to-minimal. - Blood draw :Nurse spoke only French but was professional, patient, and friendly. She took over from trainee to painlessly locate my shy veins quickly. Wait time minimal. - Pandemic protocols : Procedural masks handed out at door, though I was permitted to wear my own KN95 mask. Plenty of hand sanitizer stations. Area was not busy, easy to socially distance. My companion was not permitted entry inside, but chairs were available in the immediate vestibule. N.B.: wait area is cold and drafty without no sun. - Appointment date was scheduled via clicsanté.

Worst EMG experience! They are not even sure which electrodes goes where and just kept on trying and switching. Then this lady neurologist came without even introducing herself and just kept on asking general questions. Not helpful at all! I was already in pain and crying and they didn’t care. Will never ever recommend!

I am happy to share my experience at Notre Dame Hospital. I had an appointment for a blood test via clicsanté. All of the employees I met were friendly and willing to assist. - First, you must confirm your appointment in the waiting area; the lady was very helpful, it was nearly the end of her shift but she was patient with me. - Then I went to the room for processing my hospital card. I met with a super cool guy who quickly created my hospital card. He spoke in English when he noticed I am struggling with French. - Blood test: They have a fantastic nurse working there. I strongly advise you to go with him. He is the best for blood tests, very quick, patient, and super friendly. Omg, I forgot his name, but I remember he has a tattoo. All steps have no waiting time. Thank you to the team for being so awesome.

I waited 3 hours in the ER and ultimately just got frustrated and left. There were only 4-5 people waiting but seemed like there was no intention of anyone ever being called. This was my first experience at an ER and this has taught me it’s better to be in pain at home for a couple of days while trying to get an appointment for a clinic rather than going to an ER ✌️

I was worried about coming here for tests as I don’t know French well. Based on the reviews here it sounds as if they’d throw rocks at you or something. I believe the other reviews are mostly based on the ER or skewed negative just due to the nature of wanting to share negative comments more than positive. I didn’t go to the ER, I had an appointment. That said everyone from security to the technicians were very polite and helpful. I did what I could in French in the way of greetings and asking if I could proceed in English, one or two folks needed extra time to work with me to understand the next step or directions but Everyone was helpful. Wait times even with an appointment can be a bit long for some departments though.

I'm waiting for hours with a chicken pox only to find out that they sent me in a wrong room, while sitting just 2m from me. Noone speaks English and if you don't speak French, go to another hospital. Because they will look at you like you are an alien from another planet. They don't even try to understand you and just go away. The worst hospital I've been to. Oh yeah they had an old lady who couldn't move, she was crying and begging for water and the nurses were there and everyone was standing there just laughing at her. Don't come here. Go to jewish general, they will take care of you the best they can.

Don’t even deserve a one star. What’s the point of having a emergency if it take 10 hours if you are in so much pain. Even if you die they would ask to wait and be patient. What a joke of a hospital. What are they doing?? Are doctors this rare in Canada.

I was sent to the ER by a primary care physician with a fractured foot .It was my first visit to an ER but knew that I should expect a long wait. The triage nurse was pleasant and competent as was the ER doctor when I got to see him after a 4 hour wait . (I believe the average wait at the time was 7 hours ) . I was quickly given a CT scan and told to come back the next day to see an orthopaedic specialist to review the imaging and determine the course of action. It was determined that I didn't need surgery , told to keep weight off the foot for 6 weeks and made an appointment for follow up x rays before I left. All in all despite the wait I was able to get the imaging needed and see a specialist within a short time frame. I found all of the support staff I met to be fairly unpleasant and unhelpful . One woman in particular in the ER department was miserable , didn't want to answer simple questions and acted like it was a huge imposition when I asked if she could bring my bag to me when I was hobbling around on crutches. I speak French so conducted most conversations in French but at times I preferred to speak in English when it came to certain more complex and important issues. This was fine with the triage nurse , the ER doctor and the specialist.

I had a deep laceration on the back of my head, requiring 8 stitches. Everyone, every single person whom I met, was outstanding. In particular, I'd like to thank Dr Boucher - I hope I have that right - and his student Rose. I could tell he is an excellent doctor and an excellent professor. I am from Ontario and I was embarrassed not to be able to converse in French properly. Tout le monde était si bon dans son travail. Et tout le monde me traitait avec respect. Merci beaucoup. Je reviendrai à Montréal mais j'éviterai ces escaliers en colimaçon, sous la pluie, avec une valise de 23kg!! I hope my thanks, and that of my wife and daughter, reach Dr Boucher and Rose and everyone else. Thank you!

I had to wait 4 hours in the ER in pain for my rib injury to see a doctor. While waiting this long. I also managed to catch a cold which made my injury worse as I coughed and sneezed.

During the visit with my wife everyone was extremely pleasant and the service was fast. We went in late for an appointment at 7:30 and got out at 8:00.

The stuff are rude. I went in with my children we had a virus. My two babies ended up developing ear pain. Which I thought was ear infection. They said they won’t take them in my 1 year old and 2 year old. I had to say I will not leave without them getting check and we stood theirs for 5 hours. The were so rude and careless. I have never seen emergency’s worst than this,

😠 This is the second time that I set foot in this establishment. The first time being for a meeting for a urinary tract infection, impeccable service, nothing to say. So I decided to make a second appointment with them to do a gynecological follow-up since I think I have Endometriosis due to several...

😠 I walked in the ER Friday afternoon with a minor arm injury that required medical attention. The patient ahead of me, who was sitting in the chair at pre-triage, complained of severe fatigue, shortness of breath, and chest pressure (covid probable) and was swiftly sent to sit in the waiting room wit...

😠 I was "seen" by a little bald doctor with black-rimmed glasses. I am giving this description because he did not give me his name, and everyone needs to beware of this villain. First of all, he spoke to me in the most condescending dismissive tone I've ever heard. When I told him I've been suffering...
